The trailer was pretty much like every other Souls game, nothing weird. |
No it wasn't. I remember the first one for dark souls, it showed stuff from the game and there wasn't any voice over at all. The other two i probably saw and didn't react because they werent especially nonsensical.
No biggie though, game might turn out good.

Can't wait for some gameplay footage, it's been a while since the last Souls game, not counting Sekiro as, while equally awesome, it was quite different. This time with a helping hand from America's only great fantasy writer.

Robert Jackson Bennet, Mark Lawrence (well British American), N. K. Jemisin are pretty great too.
Let's add R. Scott Bakker if we're talking about North America.
And I'm mainly a fantasy reader, with second type of books being historical ones (mainly antiquity and pre-renaissance stuff), followed by some sci fi.
Though to be honest I'm not the biggest fan of the world of ASOIAF mostly because of how it's like the galaxy of Star Wars with how stagnant it is. Aegon's Conquest may have been 300ish years prior to the main books, but the world has thousand year spanning ages where all these big Houses have been around since 3000 or so years prior. Then there's no one getting sick of Andal traditions and faith over these thousand years and deciding to start their own religion or whatever.

indeed. People might be tired of dark souls but thats likely because so many take inspiration from that combat system. Can't faultt Fromsoftware for making games in their style, but can fault everyone else for having terrible imagination and just being terrible in general.

Couldn't care less about got men but I'm in for some more proper dark souls ( with weapons, armour, magic, etc). Somehow doubt that mid 2020 release date though, a holiday release along next gen derpsole seems more likely.

The main thing that Surge and Code Vein are missing compared to the Souls games are good level design and atmosphere.
The difficulty and precise style of combat are only the initial aspects that stand out, it's the atmosphere, lore, level and creature design that make those worlds just feel really eerie and different/lovecraftian.

Indeed, as much as I enjoyed most of the Soulslikes released in the past few years (with The Surge 2 probably being the best of the bunch), they all do distinctly feel like knock offs for one reason or another. Miyazaki and his crew of ashen minions from Astora are just head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to talent.

I don't know if any of this is real, so take it with a grain of salt. |

Its unlikely but possible since Microsoft has the marketing on Elden Ring.
I will pray with you.
