My version of what you wrote is that you should try to challenge your own opinions by putting them up against other peoples opinions. That's the best way to improve knowledge, remain somewhat open minded, improve yourself and so on. The risk of slug fests is huge though where people instead fortify their opinions based on nothing but oppositional emotions. That's where learning when to "pick a fight" comes in.

10+ years ago I was rather prolific and confrontational in debates and arguments here on the hump (and on other places). Many of my opinions changed throughout those "battles". Unfortunately I was probably a bit too fired up and had plenty of opposition that were equally fired up. In those instances it became more about the rhetoric and trying to nail the other. That was then. Now I'm mostly passive and only react when I see trolling, flaming or injustice.

(somewhat) On-topic: and YEAH, where the HELL is KOTOR3??!! Yeah, the IP owners dumped the expanded universe but I don't care. If anything the KOTOR mythology/story/era is more interesting than most of the official Star Wars story.

Disney owns the rights, EA has exclusive SW-license. BioWare had so many disagreements with LucasArts over the development of Kotor1 that they'd never touch that franchise ever again which led to BioWare creating their own IP (Mass Effect) to continue on that road while Obsidian got Kotor2 but they couldn't stand against the LucasArts executives like BioWare which led to a problematic release that took a decade to patch by fans and IIRC a former Obsidian employee(?).

Nah, that's a load of horseshit. They'd already decided to work on their IP back in the D&D days. Dragon Age was being worked on well before KOTOR came out. Regardless, they were still quite willing to make KOTOR 2. It was only when LucasArts said they wanted it within 18 months (12 months after the release of K1) that they passed and suggested instead that LA offer it to the newly established Obsidian instead. They worked closely again with LA when developing The Old Republic MMO.

The game isn't working any more with me. Yesterday everthing was fine.

when i start the game i see a black screen for a couple seconds and then its crashing at deskop without error. im using the codex version.

edit: When i change the date to 29 december the game is working. Is the crack faulty or something.

system:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
32 gig ddr4
geforce 2080 super.

Is there a way if you start the game that the date goes back a couple days. And when you quit the game the date goes back to normal?

You can make a powershell script which disables network time, sets your defined time, runs the EXE and waits for it to close, and finally reenable network time and trigger a sync with time server.

I have a legit copy of the game on Origin and just started it up with no problems so maybe it's a Steam version issue if it and WWE 2K20 are affected.

the Problem is only the Origin Emu ( OrangeEmu64.dll )

the Game will not start only 31.dec.19 to 10.jan 2020

set the date on 11.jan.2020 or wait to 11.jan , and the game works perfect Cool

played this for about 4 hours now or so. it's fun but not as good as I hoped.

the combat and movement feels so sluggish compared to sekiro, it's kinda annoying...
why can't devs ever copy souls properly? the animations and responsiveness is so important but people keep fucking it up. this feels more like witcher 3 than sekiro in terms of those things.
might just be a getting used to thing so I won't complain about it too much..

can't say I enjoy the outfits and colors and shit as loot everywhere. makes exploration quite unrewarding when only 1 in 10 chests gives you anything useful and everything else is a worthless cosmetic item.
would it have been so hard to put in some items for armor and damage upgrades or something to give me something decent as rewards?
does anyone want 28 outfit color variations and ponchos as loot in a single player game? who is this shit for?

oh and maybe this is just for me here but I somehow have something akin to streaming stutters even though the damn game is on a 2gb/sec M.2 SSD... wtf?


still one of the best star wars games in recent memory so far but it doesn't have much competition there.

Upgrades I assume was a cut system replaced with cosmetics from findings in the game or well keeping the stuff but changing it to cosmetic only instead of "complicating" the game or possibly just time and budget if this had to meet some specific deadline.
(Focus testers, bane of complex challenging gaming and here comes the over simplification!)
(Movie tie- in games bane of proper QA and testing and bug fixing and such because rushing.)


Combat wise I've seen a ton of mixed reports though it seems they've copied from a lot but it's hard for the game to stand up to what they mixed and matched from so many different games or "inspiration" sources sometimes it works better otherwise the individual systems were handled better in earlier games.

Would be nice to see a re-release / remake of the Jedi Knight games at least the second game and Academy on that note but it'd probably fall to modern game design changes if so though the animations and a few other things haven't quite held up but the combat system has some good depth although well the AI doesn't quite hold up either. Razz

Pretty sure it also kinda cheats but when was that anything new, blatant cheating or small benefits or rule bending being a bit of a norm to not give players too big of a advantage just for being human versus limited coded behaviors. Very Happy
(Much as it can work it's also kinda prone to breaking and exploiting after all.)


But yeah tons of collectibles that probably had stuff like saber assembling and possibly outfits with bonuses at some point, Jedi Pimp master from using purple crystals is just a bonus but the other fun bits probably had more effect at one point.

...And less double-dildo saber styles. Guess I can't complain the game does seem to avoid some stupid saber designs mostly aside from Sisters cross thing there with the guard or hilt bit. Oh well it probably had some thought behind how it looked.

To be fair though I think that's a dual saber with a spring or something to make it bend and flexible and oh look it's still kinda stupid.
(How do you hold this! Shit it must be like bar bashing someone with a chair or something for grip technique as to not slip and do the classic double-saber self impalement ha ha.)


Styles overall would make for a nice addition far as I know someone said the game basically uses some balanced form and mixes it up a bit for gameplay reasons depending on if the player goes for single or double saber with Cal for some reason also able to master using the technique for double saber to dual sabers.

Heard the game did support the Jedi Knight 2 thing with turning off the saber in either end in staff / high-chance of self-injury mode but not seen full confirmation of it.

Or what it'd even be good for outside of MP against a actual human player unless very generous dodge or parry chances against AI factors in but it seems the Purgies are pretty good at handling laser blade that can cut trough anything ... besides this one handy plot material for this story, plenty of those around!
(From power crystals to just some near blade oil type stuff or certain metals whatever works, ultimate weapon or just really sharp glow stick?)



EDIT: And to continue the media stuff well...

Ultimate weapon and all that though it looks like ranged options work just fine..including some old tech stuff like just filling the glow-light wielder with sharp sticks.





Hell maybe they should just have tried you know actually just shooting Vader instead of engaging in 1vs1 fencing duels.
(Though for a well done living human steak amputee in a sort of life support armor system he held up well.)

On that note though totally a light side action and master Jedi way of throwing the apprentice into the lava there Obi...high ground indeed but should just have gone 100% dark side instead of 90% and just stabbed the dude, probably would have rounded out as a light side mercy kill even!
(Yeah arguing with the plot it's kinda like those horror movies where it's obvious that don't is the right course of action but the character is always a doer...has to be after all or it just wouldn't work. ~ Very Happy )



Anyways the game itself oh yeah what to say about that.

Not too much for now I guess especially since I'm still dealing with the backlog before taking on any major new releases and gaming experiences of 2019 and maybe this one isn't quite as "GAAS" ... filled.

I really need to give this game another try as I was hoping after a few patches it might make the combat feel better for me but even playing with a controller it just feels a bit off so I just have not had much interest in continuing it.

If you don't like it at the start, another 10-15 hours of it is probably not going to improve your opinion. And there's nothing in the narrative worth slogging through (just watch it on Youtube if you are that interested).
