Oh nice! I get now between 45-55 fps on Vulkan, followed BSoD latest guide, and i can finally play the game Very Happy
Still have some slowdowns so i might read on how to install these full shader cache tomorrow.

Yeah the cache is quite important especially the later games with a lot of smaller effects and what not dragging down emulator performance until the data is cached which can be upwards of 20000 or so individual files and for open world type experiences it can take a while to get a full cache built.

Not sure how CEMU handles the cache validity but GPU driver updates, emulator software updates and game updates can all invalidate existing caches plus differences between how AMD, NVIDIA and Intel handle both OGL and VLK and what these support and do the shader cache stuff for though it could be that the software is fairly vendor neutral and thus a downloaded cache could still be usable despite driver and GPU differences. Smile
(There's usually a second cache anyway from the GPU driver especially for GL and VLK though it also manages D3D though it's not as dependent on this but exceptions do exist.)

Framerate wise I guess once the graphics packs are updated for VLK support it's business as usual with 60 FPS overrides where possible and disabling or tuning certain effects as desired, code patches might already be compatible as far as I'm reading since for the WiiU there's likely not much for new patches now including Breath of the Wild and other WiiU and Switch cross platform launched titles.

Not an expert on emulation though, I really like what I'm seeing for how the projects are working and improvements to accuracy and performance across a wide range of newer and older consoles, think the only one I'm reading any problems about is for PS2 due to the hacky nature of the main emulator for this system and numerous settings and plugins making a bit of a mess in how to configure it all. Very Happy
(But compatibility remains mostly alright and guides exist for a large variety of even the more problematic titles.)

EDIT: Should see about replaying the series in full at some point, adventures of Link and his love interest who at least avoids being kidnapped constantly but he's still never going to get lucky. Razz
(And she took the series name despite usually not doing much then again it's probably better than Legend of Man-Pig Ganon and his constant failure based existence...)

Early installment weirdness and all, wonder how anyone actually completed the first two games though I guess translation issues didn't exactly help but the Nintendo Power magazine and walkthroughs probably did and the manuals had this little anti-piracy thing in them which basically amounted to dungeon and item guides.
(Mid-installment weirdness too really with the timeline split and all hah.)

RPCS3 now surpasses the 50% "'playable" games.

It's legitimately astonishing how fast RPCS3 has progressed over the last few years. I don't think anyone could have predicted (Laughing) how quickly it would transition from "hey, a 2D game from 2006 runs!" to "Well, I'm playing Persona 5, fuck you Very Happy" -- a most definitely amazing emulator, along with the likes of Yuzu and Cemu.

Well that's just emulation in general, the processing power required is always literal magnitudes more than the hardware being emulated. A SNES is 3.6Mhz with less than 256KB of RAM, yet to accurately emulate close to 100% requires a 3.5Ghz+ modern processor via the likes of BSNES/Higan Very Happy

... or an FPGA Very Happy

I was actually able to finish MGS4 on RPCS3 quite comfortably minus a few quirks and a few FPS tanking sections

i9-9900K seems to be THE CPU for previous Gen emulation, definitely going to get it or something similar next year when I buy new PC.

Sure is.

Can't beat that single-threaded performance, especially when overclocking the beast.

Basically if you like Emulation the extra pennies you spend on a burly Intel CPU can spare you from buying certain ports and even entire consoles, like the Switch.

Not that I'd call Switch Emulation too playable yet though especially on a overclocked 9900k plenty games seem to run pretty well already.

Same goes for those PS3 and Xbox 360 emulators.

Same with the "3rd" gen Ryzen, whose IPC increases over the two previous gen procs has really elevated it in the emulation scene. BSoD Gaming showcases all his emulation vids now, such as Yuzu/RPCS3/Cemu, using his Ryzen 3800X and he loves it. Sadly my Ryzen 2600X just doesn't hack it as well as even multiple-generation old Intel procs when it comes to emulation -- but oh well Very Happy

Does anybody know a good multi-emulator that works well with the Steam Controller I got during their sale-out @ €5.50 (or if there's some 3rd party software that can configure it separately from Steam)? It seems it doesn't really register as a gamepad and ABYZ works as keystrokes.

RetroArch, as always - the last I checked it has autoconfig scripts for the Steam Controller. Failing that, you can always add emulators (including RetroArch) directly to Steam as a Non-Steam Game and the controller will function like a 360/XBONE one.

You're very welcome Smile RA is magnificent and strongly recommended for any and everyone into emulation, it cuts so much hassle and adds some much needed quality of life functionality. Plus it has support for G/Freesync, so you can play classic games at their correct refresh rates ^_^

Motherfucker, half the AVIs were either gay or midget porn.

Also the lack of any CRC checking means you get broken files pretty much every download.

That was such a shit software.
