At least you can count on RE3make 99.9% making it. They made sure to announce it when it looked practically finished save for some additional polishing and Capcom has a good track record with their recent releases meeting the dates they set.
Now, HL:A on the other hand, that too is seemingly near finished, but Valve doesn't have a good track record and we have yet to see a second trailer even though the game releases in 2 months, so...  I hope I'm just being paranoid...

What do they gain by releasing close to nextgen? Aside of being seen as outdated compared to true nextgen games?

It would not surprise me at all if Cyberpunk easily ends up breaking their Witcher 3 Steam daily player record they just set and that's considering all the extra platforms it is on as a large number will probably go GOG for it. Cyberpunk just will be a much larger mainstream hit I think just due to the game setting but I am sure Dying Light 2 will do well but I think their numbers will end up about the same as first game.

Well, I didn't enjoy Dying Light that much so I'll go for CP2077.
