Got a beta key, this is woefully pointless as you can't add your own games to it, just theirs. If a launcher doesn't allow adding your own games, it's just a shopfront. At least Steam/Origin allow it.

Add non GOG games
Added by kaltern

A launcher is just a shopfront unless you can orgainse your existing non GOG games through it too.

I only added that an hour ago.

I don't mind a feature like that... but I most likely won't use it. Smile

Apparently, Galaxy by default install bunch of services + their own virtual network drivers, which act similar to hamachi and create virtual LAN between 2 clients in case of network play. Now, it is all cool and stuff, but the thing is - there is no way to opt out from install these drivers at all. I'm not just mentioning case when you are not interested in network feature, but in general, any virtual network drivers usually the source of all possible BSODs. As someone who has installed Agnitum drivers and OpenVPN virtual bridge - I know that.

Fuck this shit until they make it optional.

The big new feature is universal cloud saves which means that even older games can have saved to the mysterious cloud. Other user features include screenshot capturing, in-game overlay, scheduling, notifications, chat improvements, bandwidth limiting and more

Just watched a Gaymen Laming episode, and they mentioned that GoG Galaxy can now link to all the major storefronts and organise them under a single launcher. This was news to me.

In practice every time you want to launch a uplay game, it will first obviously launch uplay itself (or Steam, or Origin, or Epic, whatever). I dunno. Some people may find this a neat thing, personally, I can do without.

That new 30 day no-questions-asked refund policy is pretty neat though.

Mjeh, saw a bunch of talk about the refund good and bad but in the end I thought to myself: a game on GoG is a game you can download the same day without much effort. So download before a buy, demo/play, like it/it works->buy it.

But yeah most store fronts can be linked (I like) on Galaxy and the ones that you can't/emulators you can look for scripts on github for. A pretty decent client with the ability of letting me not forget which games I own outside of Steam and GoG. Seeing I don't pay much or no attention to other clients other than Xbox Gamepass atm.

I think it is imporant to add that galaxy 2.0 can turn off another launcher after playing if you want it to. Small distinction, but still.

If it prevents that annoying-as-all-fuck thing when uplay always opens itself whenever the game closes, this just might be mandatory for me from now on when playing ubi games.

My dear friends,

We are gathered here today to honor the memory of Good Old Games.

It had a good life, it had a long, well, long enough life.

But sadly, all Good things have to come to an end.

It is thus with sadness, that we bid farewell and good bye to our beloved, well, beknown, friends, well, acquaintance, well, that other thing, when it will take it's leave and fare away forever, into parts unknown.

Say good bye to DRM-Free, say hello to lower cuts for store, that will absolutely not trickle down to customers,

Good bye, you, we barely knew you.

Good move for GoG but what's the advantage for epic here? Surely they already have more visibility than GoG, no? And no way gog is going to let the epic exclusives enter it's store with some sort of DRM or chinese govern- er, epic store leftover "features"... hopefully Neutral

The advantage is getting good PR while expanding the market share at the same time. They won't get flak anymore from exclusivity deals that restrict the sales on GOG. However, they won't sell on this launcher either, but through it, meaning you'll still buy from Epic. You know Epic likes to masquerade as the good guy.

Not surprised they are going this way.
GoG connect and Galaxy kind went into that direction already.

And frankly, Steam also offers Ubi and EA games, EA does with Ubi games and I wouldn't know what Ubi is doing. But eventually they'll all sell on each-others store I presume.

Doubt I'd buy anything on GoG that's not DRM-free from them and certainly not Epic exclusives.

Meanwhile, GOG Galaxy still doesn't want to recognize my Steam library and nothing seems to be fixing the 'offline/retry' error with the unofficial plugin that many other people are also having. The shitty Epic account works wonderfully though, I wonder why Poker Face
