Another arena FPS that no one will play.

Every time they announce one of these, people go ''yay, arena shooters are back!'' but no one actually sticks with them.

Only UT4 has a chance.

Technically it sounds awesome and it's gonna be cheap, too. But I don't like the setting and I'm pretty sure only some hardcore diehards will be playing after a month, bashing any noob who dares to enter Very Happy

Hardcore arena shooters are niche as fuck.

Godspeed to them. It might sell ok if they market it well but requiring skill to play is a big no no for the modern gamer. Online will die a quick and painless death.

Does anyone remember the assault mode and I think it was onslaught mode from unreal tournament? I think those would be pretty popular today but everyone seems to have forgotten them. TBH I barely remember much past the ut demo that was really popular.

Might get some sales just because 2GD is one of the creators he's pretty good at capturing that twitchchat audience.

Not sure I love the Egg shaped player models though but I understand the design decision, it's kinda unique and also offers an easy way to see cosmetics in a fast paced game, while also giving a big "round" target to aim for.

Played it last weekend. It's pretty solid. Very smooth gameplay. The fact that you don't have to pick up armor and weapons and is round based, may attract some people who are not used to arena shooters, but if Quake Champions failed as it has failed so far, I doubt this game will become popular anytime soon unless some big streamers play it. Time will tell I guess.

Which sucks because its true. I REALLY liked TOXIKK. First game in a long while I felt pulled at my early/mid 90's bare bones, guns and power ups, FPS run and gun nostalgia. And its empty of players. :\

Thanks to 2GD's connections, some big streamers played it but they got their asses handled to them so bad that they stopped playing very quickly Very Happy

Indeed, the genre is somewhat dying, but it seems like Diabolical has good chances of gathering the remnants of the Arena shooter community together - Quake Champions fucked that up, even if things got better recently, the game is pretty much dead at this point.

These games fail, I think, because they are more of the same / no new mechanics and the price point is too high to get new people interested in the genre as a "just want to give it a try". F2P with cosmetic purchases is probably better, but the core gameplay needs to be solid. This looks good also but I'm afraid it'll fail to attract a crowd.

and what u think casuals will do , same thing insta quit, nobody wants to practice bunnyhopping an entire map these days, thats what killed quake , skill cap to high and almost no way to come back once a person has map control

people rather pay 2 win then practice to get gud

it was always coming to epic, epic is the reason the game actually survived, they ran out of money year ago and epic was their last lifeline, they just looking for the right time to launch now to general public, guess now is a good time as any
