you can say that too, but you dont see me caling x game the best ever and other y games shit
i would say today apex legends has one of the best movement, and slower pace tactical would be r6, and in the past there were many others like doom 2016, prey, titanfall 2, cod mw1/2 etc
now when i played black mesa and hl2 i could see the limitation of its mechanics, they are still ok just i would never call them THE BEST still
just because you cant put in the hours/or dont have the mindset anymore dosent mean today games are shit.

I've had more fun, enjoyment, and challenge than any FPS in the last 10 years playing Black Mesa and HL2.
Apart from the odd questionable level design choice (rare), I've felt more like I am the protagonist than most other games, because I decide where I have to go and how to get there. Not in the 'linear vs Open world' crap, I'm talking about no cutscenes taking over when something interesting is about to happen, no arrows pointing the way, no 'Get back in the mission area' messages, and no 'HIT THE BOSS HERE' flashing appendages.
If HL3 is ever made as a result of HLVR .. I just hope they stick to the same formula as HL1 & 2, and don't cosolise the crap out of it.

Been playing for a while now but having the same issue as pre-release: colors/gamma seem sort of fucked up. Even before the game launches I can see it pulling some sort of blue tint filter over my desktop, dafuq? 
The game itself is a blast just like the original HL. And it will only get better from now on. A proper texture pack would be good IMO, some of the textures look bad even with the slider maxed out.

One would expect also a decent moderation on these boards, but it seems like fucking people off around has become a norm nowadays.

How does Black Mesa compare in length to the original?
I feel like I always played through HL1 in one sitting but Black Mesa seems to take me forever.

because it has pacing issues, i clocked around 17h and i would cut at least 5h from it, when i played the free mod i thought the pacing was fine but with this one they readded some chapters

It's the same length, so far. Im in Lambda Core now and I don't think they added new levels. Maybe you played Opposing Force in one sitting, I really doubt you did with HL1, especially if you don't know what to do in some levels. I had some flashbacks during some levels that took me "forever" to figure out when I played it for the first time.

Fantastic remake.
Xen remains uneven, some of what they stretched falls on it's face (especially the chase sequences  ) but overall the remake is a blast.
Well done to the devs, even it it took a while

I'm annoyed at how they extended the alien version of Residue Processing on Xen. Interloper was never-ending 
I still hate Residue Processing with a passion. Such an idiotic level that made me detest all factory/sewer levels in FPS games.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Yeah the remake of the 'main' game is pretty much spot on, but Xen is an example of overdoing the 'fix' for the original - it should have been half the length IMO, and with far less platformy Super Mario Freeman.
