The Ritual - 7/10

Good old enjoyable suspense, with proper English speaking twats, not bad at all.

Underwater (2020) 6,5/10

I like these kind of movies where people are trapped and have to fight their way out. The movie basically gets right down to business from the beginning and it's quite tense and even Kristen Stewart was good imo.

The Gentlemen (2019) 810

I do love Guy Ritchie's movies...well King Arthur was a disaster, but this once again brought me back to goold old days. A solid movie. Smile

The King (2019) 6.5/10

A bit of a disappointment. I love films about kings and their wars but this movie had some weird casting choices and was not realistic at all. It is based on true events and historical figures but it is butchered beyond belief. Even if you don't know the historical facts it is easy to see how unrealistic and unconvincing it is.

It also jumps around conveniently from one event to the other without ANY notion of time. For example, how long did that siege last? Two days, two months, more?

It also avoids some epic scenes because of a lack of budget, surely. Having crowds cheering from ... somewhere out there ... out of the window, without showing it. Yeah, ok Laughing

And what the fuck kind of performance was that from Robert Pattinson? I hope it is the role that did not suit his acting skills and he fits better in Batman's shoes (which is a totally different role from the one in this movie)

Vivarium - 5/10

This was boooring. I got the message (what was there) but it was ultimately a disappointment which reminded me of slice-of-life movies but with a very bizarre setting with no point. It was too much of a chore to finish, hoping for a good finale (which never arrived) and I wish I hadn't wasted 90+ minutes on this.

JoJo Rabbit 8/10

Worth watching.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

1917 - 8/10 - Well made British version of Saving Private Ryan. Set was top notch. The only thing movie actually lacked of was the story.

Downhill (2020) 2/10

My God! Why did I waste my time watching this?
Simply boring...where was the comedy that was advertised?

Resistance (2020) 5/10

First half of the movie to me was quite boring and cringy and Jesse Eisenberg acting for the children was not as endearing as it was suppose to be.
The movie got better with the second half when they were hunted, but still somewhat lacking. Props for casting forever beautiful Vica Kerekes. Smile

Vivarium - 7.5/10

It tickles what I like a little bit of surrealism, mindfuck with a side salad of eldritch.

The Platform 7.5/10

I dig the distopian settings and bleakness. Although the message was kind of bullshit and really heavyhanded I enjoyed it anyway.

OK, not your typical horror fest with bad acting, but slow and methodical, with good acting.

Liked the horror approach, but I'm pretty sure it was similar to the Kevin Bacon led version. He also went invisible to stalk some lady.

Yeah, I mean what the fuck.. I watched it on a whim for something easy to watch, but what I hoped would just be an easy going action movie..

I also rated it a 3/10 on IMDb, but since I didn't read anything about it before, I was genuinely shocked to see it had a fucking 77% on RT.... HOW?! How in the world can this movie be at 77%?

I don't really believe in bought review scores but fuck, this is really confusing me..

The u wot Gentlemen - 8/10

At last, the faux Guy Ritchie imposter stepped aside for a moment and the ol' cunt came back with a bang. Many of the qualities that made Snatch and Lock Stock so good are present here, albeit...remastered in modern themes with some new sprinkles. It's intense, funny, occasionally gritty, the characters are solid (Hugh Grant, McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam all nailed their roles, Colin Farrell was hilarious also Very Happy), and the writing definitely has its mojo in place. Just take it as it is without overthinking it too much.
