They look almost Lovecraftian, although they'd be more suitable for a game about sexual predators

Oh, almost forgot to mention. They have a "send crash report" feature after crashes. Except you cannot report bugs, because it's bugged. Razz

https://www.reddit.com/r/mountandblade/comments/fs5cdx/i_cant_send_a_bug_report_because_the_bug_reporter/

Can confirm that it's the same on my end.

Haha I have no idea but this is indeed more of a case of general laziness. On the bright side, at least the bodies are done right!

hmm i don't know what to make of bannerlord.. as others suggested it doesn't feel like it has made the changes people were looking for.

i'm sure someone will dispute me, but the combat is basically still trash.. it feels as if you tried to add directional combat to quake, it looks mechanical and doesn't feel accurate or visceral. there's no flow to it at all. it's too bad they didn't learn anything from KCD or chivalry.. or even their own system. i'm getting manhandled even on the tutorial because the ai just doesn't mind being stabbed while they are holding w+lmb Laughing i don't think i can play permadeath here for sure.

the group combats looked improved with the formations and ai changing tactics but the suicidal nature of the battles means only the initial orders make any difference, no one gets tired, backs off or changes up what they're doing in combat, they just all immediately cycle to the next available target like robots. Rolling Eyes
i think the whole thing needs to be slower, orders need to echo down slower both for players and the AI, and battles need to be a LOT less decisive and fatal. i don't mean that like they should run away comically in single-file when they are in danger, i mean they need a lot more fatigue and combat states with formations rotating during combat and doing things other than charge in and die relentlessly. all the time they spent on this and it still feels so damn rigid and inhuman.

i've barely played the game but i feel like it'd be better to just go back to previous titles Laughing it still seems fun, just i don't understand why the combat gameplay hasn't improved much.

I like the game. The combat is 'ok' they have added 'kind' of a combo system (if you get a clean hit and time the second correctly it will join the animations and make a different looking swing - it also feels like the follow up hit hits much harder).

There are still a lot of missing features for sure... I was going all in on creating my own kingdom... until I learned that it is not implemented yet Razz (the main quest has this option, but it has a requirement that is not fillable - 'have your own settlement' -> I've had a castle, villages and even a town, and this part would not get completed)

I'm currently playing on the easiest combat difficulty, and ... it is easy. I rarely lose a tournament (well, now, a bit later in game, never really), only in the beginning when you have no gear (your own armour is brought on to the tournament) and you face some platemail tier troops -> you just wont deal any damage (1-6 / hit) while you get hit for 40-60 for a single hit)

Also the mass combat is very easy (I have to check whether the difficulty affects this). I usually don't do any combat myself, I just command the troops, and I had no trouble at all beating 150+ enemies with my 71 army.

Mmh... money making is reasonably easy, even without abusing any of the businesses (you could create a business which churns out 10k+ each day - was fixed in latest hotfix). As long as you're in war and you can beat the individual enemy armies (usually 70-150 sized) You get easily something like 10k+ for a single combat (prisoners + random loot). And if you join a kingdom and join with an army, if you get into a large army vs army battle, the plunder from it is massive. I got 65k for a single battle (as cash, not as loot) of 250 vs 450. With the loot I think I racked over 100k for that one battle.

But yea, this can only get better from this, and I already like it a lot.

16 hours in now, loving it. No crashes, no noticeable bugs except 4 instances of placeholder text.

Just joined a kingdom and joined an army, leading to my biggest battle so far at about 400 vs 100 which again ran smoothly at 60 fps.

Upon having the army I joined engage in battle, I got a choice of which part of army I'd like to command. Could take control of the infantry, one of two cavalry units, or archers, and then once in battle I got orders from the leader like 'protect the right infantry flank'! So that was pretty cool

Also enjoying the tournaments giving a random item as reward. Got a really nice horse and a plate helmet worth 20k!

-edit-
aaaand just had my first crash

So...apparently, you can only get certain amount of skill point during character creation for crossbows.
The lowest skill requirement xbow in the game right now requires more than that to use.
The ones they give you during arena fights do not give you skill points.

The only way to start leveling the xbow skill is to enable cheats and spawn in a lower level bow, that currently don't spawn in the campaign anywhere.

Fixed a crash related to a villager opening a dialog right after an enemy lord encounters the player during a raid village action.
Fixed a crash while moving troops in the party screen.
Fixed a crash while exiting the campaign map.
Fixed a crash while dragging 0 item count tuples in inventory.
Fixed a bug which caused a crash when breaking into an allied settlement under a siege.
Fixed a crash concerning battle log entries when talking to a winning faction's non-hero character if the player was on the defeated side
Fixed a crash that occurred just before the fight with the hideout boss after the hideout has been cleaned up.
Fixed a crash that occurred when a player vs NPC board game is over.
Fixed a crash which occurred when attacking a settlement after being interrupted by a party in the siege preparation stage.
Fixed a crash related to targeting routing mounted agents.
Fixed a crash that occurred when loading the game after successfully collecting weapons as the gang leader requested in the Gang Leader Needs Weapon quest.
Fixed a rare crash that happens in character creation when choosing an option.
Fixed a rare crash that happens when caravan payments are processed.

Performance
Fixed an optimisation issue with NPC pathfinding which led to a huge performance loss, especially in siege scenes.
Fixed a memory leak issue.

Save & Load
Further stability tweaks for save and load.

Battles and Sieges
Fixed a bug that opened a siege battle instead of field battle when attacking a besieger party.

Combat AI
Night debuffs, visibility limitation and extra aim error of ranged units have been removed.

Clan and Party
Fixed the open hands issue in the banner editor.
After some time during a campaign, some lords were remaining without troops in their party because of financial problems and constantly being harassed by bandits. Lords now manage their finances more effectively and take troops from garrisons if they are at risk of going bankrupt. This was one reason for the snowball effect in the campaign, with kingdoms being eliminated too easily.
Minor fixes have been made regarding pregnancies.
Fixed an issue that caused player clan members to get stuck in a settlement.

Kingdoms and Diplomacy
Fixed an issue with defensive battles after a safe passage barter had been made.

Crafting
Fixed an issue that prevented axes from being craftable at the smithy.

Issues & Quests
Fixed a bug with the AI trying to attack at the end of Army of Poachers quest.

Other
More than 200 items reintroduced to the game.
Armor values and prices overhauled.
Production of weapons and armors in towns tweaked.
Aserai’s basic troop was Aserai Tribesman, however, it should be Aserai Recruit. This is fixed.

OK can someone help me enjoy this game? I bought it since I was looking for a new game to buy that had some depth and longevity to it and this seemed like a good choice but either the start of a game is incredibly boring or it's just not my kind of game.

It feels a bit like a weak "Elite" but instead of spaceships, you use horses and infantry to fight. You can explore, trade, do boring quests, do combat although it's rather chaotic to me because you have so little control due to being locked from the perspective of your character. I don't even engage in combat - I either use my lance to run through the mobs or I use my bow to pick them off. This way I can do just as much damage as with a sword without getting a lot of damage but it's hardly very satisfying.

So can anyone sell the game to me - maybe there's far more to it later on, or trading becomes more than going from town A to town B to sell at a profit? Diplomacy? Castle building?
