I'm disappointed in Civvie that he turned down the difficulty.

It was ok, Doom 2016 had bigger impact, Eternal is more of the same. Been there, done that. Platforming was a bit too much. It's fine for finding secrets but for story progression, some parts were really annoying.
I am playing at Ultra-Violence and began to think I finally gotten good enough in this game because after the first Marauder encounter, who I killed from the 3rd try, I didn't die a single time. That was until I got to

the fucking Taras Nabad and that clusterfucked fight with the retarded Archvile (or fire demon summoner). And I probably wound't have died if I knew that there is no fucking demon boosting totem in the area and I didn't die 7-8 times trying to find it...
Dev fuckers forgot or missed to write any info on this flaming shit like they did a tooltip
for every enemy so far.
I can take the mandatory stuff on ultra-violence, but man fuck those slayer portals, that shit is frustrating on higher difficulties. Can't decide whether to play on UV and skip those, or go for maximum completion and lower the difficulty one step

I was the same for the first 2 but now I finished them and they are kinda fun. Just move and jump A LOT and be sure to use the flame belch as much as possible for armour. A good combo is to Flame Belch a lesser zombie and chainsaw it because in the heat of battle you can kill it before being able to Glory Kill it and then completely miss to get any armour or hp. Also the Ice Grenade is a godsend. Maybe the rune that has one time resurrect in encounter tho if you die a lot it's useless of course.

I'm more than halfway through my second playthrough on Ultra Violence after beating it on Hurt Me Plenty. Still love it!
I still absolutely think the complaining about ammo management is totally overblown. A chainsaw of a zombie or imp here and there and I rarely, if ever, have a problem with ammo :/ Once you upgrade your ammo capacity like two times, I've never ran out of ammo on all weapons, ever..
And I do not consider myself "great" at this game by any means. But even Ultra Violence isn't super hard. Meaning, it's still a bit of a challenge, but you don't really use extra lives that often. Except for those fucking Marauders, I still hate them.
Oh well, doesn't matter, really. I love it, I think it's great fun. Slayer Gates on UV are tons of fun, imo. Challenging without being unfairly hard just to fuck with you. I know I'll lose my precious extra lives though when I reach the last two levels or so (I'm not looking forward to the final boss fight, jesus).

This is inconsistent imo or some bug. In later level I got a codex pop-up about battling some enemy mid-action but it wasn't showing in the entries at all.
He also makes a great point about the Marauders at 21:30. Could not agree more, those fuckers ruin every fight they are in. Did they think this is motherfucking Dark Souls? Circle Strafing around single enemies until you can parry?

The Marauders are fine. They are easily killed in under 30 secs if you fast shoot-swap-shoot. You can know when he is about to hit with green eyes if you stay at close-mid range. The only time I died more than 3 times was from a hidden fight where I had only 60 hp and even tho there were 2 zombies around he usually killed them before I could get hp or armor from them.
Also finished the game yesterday. At the beginning at the last boss I focused too much on the minions instead of the boss and it became a clusterfuck of cyber cacodemons and barons and I died few times. But when focusing the boss more I finished the fight in under 10 minutes. But I am glad there weren't Marauders in that fight.
I like the difficulty and even tho it's too complicated for Doom game it's much more interesting once you get all weapons and get couple of upgrades.
