Makes it easier to hit the order button though, because you're only put on a list with no further input asked. They'll ask more money later.

And i'm wondering if the 8 weeks are overly optimistic w.r.t. the corona situation.

Sounds like it's like buying a laptop where everything looks good. 9900k cpu, 32 gb ram then with a 1050 GTX. Meaning every damn headset has some fault which makes absolutely no sense. Add that to the closed ecosystem problem. Quest? Who the fuck would want a mobile android headset for 5k Euro?? I know they recently started the link stuff which is an improvement for sure, but what excuse did people have to buy it before that? Laughing ¨

Rift S. As expensive as the other, but the hz is really hurting it, and probably doesnt have the mobile crap library of the quest.

Atm i would have gone for the quest if the link is solid and i can even play pirated games. Fuck buying lame hand waving simulators or games for a premium.

In conclusion: It still doesnt seem like VR has found a good enough footing for it to be worth investing in. Games are lame and awkward, with too much gimmicky nonsense. I'd say Alyx was worth it, but is it? I've seen some videos and it's gimmick central. So much focus on hand waving and using hands basically in a way that feels unatural.

Yep, it's not there yet, coupled with terrible headset design decisions. Give it 5 years and VR might be good if it havent died out.

He probably means norwegian krones.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

But it's more expensive than 5000: https://prisguiden.no/produkt/oculus-quest-64gb-345988 over there so he probably typed some random number. Laughing

It's simple really. Index is the best and then S when it comes to PC headsets. Quest is the most universal but a tiny bit worse at PC stuff.
And I've had S. It's really good.
After playing half life, expect most of vr gaming to be ruined Laughing

They work fine through Oculus Link, cause OBVIOUSLY they don't run natively on the Quest

So, is the Oculus Rift S is basically the most recommand to get? seems to be decent price and a lot using it, but I would like to hear more options.

Yeah. Rift S straight for pc, quest for universal use.
Best is of course index if money is no concern (and now at least 3 months of wait on order).
S and Quest are restocked every week or two veeeery briefly

Don't forget as mentioned tho, Rift S has NO IPD adjustment - so if your IPD is not in it's sweet spot (61mm - 65mm) don't expect a good time. Some people are more affected than others, but there is no denying that if you're outside of that range - your eyes will need to work harder, and will very likely cause discomfort and eyestrain. (the software adjustment is not effective at all).

Yeah, I think Rift S is locked at 64. So +-2mm is still good but more/less It can get blurry I think

IPD can be adjusted through movable lenses aswell, like on the Odyssey+. It doesn’t have to be two screens.

I’ve a low IPD, below just 60 actually. I’ve had the original rift and vive and now the Rift S.

I’ve zero issues with blurries, focus or eye or strain with the S.

I don’t like the halo design though, I find it more difficult to get comfortable than the older Rift.

I got 60mm and my Rift S works fine. The sweetspot is pretty big though you can tell I'm right around the limits. I can see how the sweetspot is 61-65mm

I've got around to printing the rift s koss headphone adapter and running it with koss ksc75. It fits perfectly which is very surprising and sounds good although my porta pro sounds better. This whole ksc75 fame is understandable but nothing beats Porta Pro. Especially for media as it just has some more energy to it.
How could they go from possibly the best headphones in human existance in cv1 (porta pro) to bad smartphone speakers in this?! And Ksc75/porta pro are perfect for vr since the positional audio in these is fantastic and You don't feel them on Your head.

It's this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3615447 size t25.
BTW use 100% fill and no supports. Hard abs. And no supports since it's difficult to take those out from inside

Good games are good games and can only be enchanced by vr. Like hellblade or all the simulators in cockpit.
The thing with vr is that aside from half life, boneworks and handful of other non sim games, the vr game market if flooded with arcade novelty crap of mobile games quality. And You have to put the thing on your head and deal with lenses. That said... Alyx is the best gaming experience I can think of right now. Hellblade in vr scratches similar itch. Shame Soma is not in vr.
+ I always disconnect rift s and put in in the cupboard so it won't collect dust. It adds another layer. Once those things will be casually wireless, we are golden

Too many people are concerned about their image. I find that to be a popular argument against VR - that you look 'silly', yet I imagine a good number of those saying this have no problem acting like a retarded palsy-riddled orangutan every Saturday night flailing their limbs about after a few pints in an attempt to look 'cool' while showing off their smooth moves...
