wait, so this thing doesn't even have a gameplay loop?

who knew tech demos could be so profitable

Guess that depends on what you define as a gameplay loop.

You can trade, bounty-hunt, do delivery and random missions for money.

Buy ships, upgrades, weapons, clothing and armor with said money.

It's basically Elite: Dangerous Lite.

With questionable performance and stability, and a high potential for progress resets.

So yea, it does have a gameplay loop, but barely.

I mean really, what else does Elite Dangerous have in the gameplay loop besides some computer generated planets and missions that mean nothing at all?

A release date (already in the past) and continued support?

Well, at least this ship has just been released into the game and is pilotable. And I don't think they are gonna concept new ships until the game finally hits 1.0, if that ever happens. There are already around 80, either released or in production, in all planned group types - from simpletons through mining, espionage to big carriers. Every new concept ship right now won't add anything and people will get mad(der). But after release there have to be more alien ships and variety in some groups (like the espionage).
Still trying to be somewhat optimistic about the game as it really is something very hard to make and never done before in such scale. Tho they should still scrap out some stuff to make it possible.

Looks on track for liquidation. Can't believe they have so little to show after all this time making a space sim with PC grade graphics.

I remember where I was working when this was announced.. has to be something like 10 years of dev so far.

I'm not entirely sure I believe those figures, not after all this time. Who in their right mind would invest so much cash into something that has shown so little sellable product in such a long amount of time.... I smell something even more fishy than the jpeg scam...

I finally downloaded this to see what's changed since I last played it. New features since i last fired it up are fine, but they really need to start optimising this game imho. Even just a little. I've droppped all graphics to low settings but i'm really not seeing much difference from when they were at max anyway. Makes playing whats there a less than enjoyable experience unfortunately. Sad

I think client performance is still heavily affected by server performance.

If you relog a bunch of times you're likely to see the performance vary greatly from time to time.

I once joined a server and had 70fps (my record). Relogged at the same place and had 30fps after.
