Since it's quarantine, can't skate outside so I just tried RPCS3 for the first time with Skate. Runs great! And after playing it for some time, I realized how many new games just opened up. Oh, the backlog
Here is the parent project, you can run it in Windows. By the way, Heart of Darkness is one of the most impressive, funny and even innovative platformers. I finished it last year on the Playstation Classic.
The Yuzu emulator team gives their special projects codenames
One such project is "Project Prometheus" which has been worked on for a couple of months and they're aiming to release it this month.
Apparently it manages to give the emulator such a significant performance boost that it isn't just able to run all the games full-speed on the average PC but also (with some FPS unlock mods) able to run a lot of games above switch FPS
For example Doom (2016) which runs at 30fps on the switch, here with unlocked FPS
Amadeus.. do you have access to this ?.. I didn't see those screens/videos elsewhere Thanks for sharing, anyhow !
Prometheus is very exciting news indeed, I'm being hardcore CPU-bound lately and basically can't play anything on Yuzu since they've improved the emulation's accuracy. Ryujinx is rumored to get a big performance boost soon, but it's all teasing.

It's all from Discord. Release date could be the 15th and given that they were able to run fullspeed and better on mediocre laptops you should be good. What's your rig anyway?

Also this
I didn't catch those, thanks for sharing then !
i5-3570k OC'd to 4.2 and 1660 Super, it currently struggles like hell and only manages 50-60% speed on most 3D titles since the memory management and emulation accuracy upgrade. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it, more so than my next mobo+CPU update
Edit: Great stuff on Mario 64.. opens up a lot of modding possibilities. Hopefully some entirely content-free is more widely distributed to enable that, not sure how possible that is though.
How accurate the emulation on yuzu so far? Mario Oddysey or Botw still have sps syndrome or graphical glitches, random slowdowns down to 1fps?
Mario Odyssey is playable and only some graphical glitches remain : https://github.com/yuzu-emu/yuzu-games-wiki/wiki/Super-Mario-Odyssey
Performance is kinda hit and miss between EA versions lately, and there are numerous slowdowns. Usually hovers between 40-60 FPS, with some hiccups even with a full shader cache (you can get a rough idea watching jootube.com/watch?v=11eV0-zjsTo - replace with youtube, don't want the vid to get embed here). The fabled Prometheus update should vastly improve that.
BotW is still very rough afaik (performance issues, won't run fullspeed even on top of the line specs as well as unstable, and lots of glitches), just play it on Cemu in 4K with buttery smooth performance imo

They also have another project going (for nvidia users only I'm afraid) that should help massively with shader stutters and not require a shader cache either (cemu can you copy this please?)

I mean fractions of a second, you're not gonna really notice shaders compiling anymore.
And I thought I was following Yuzu closely !
Thanks for the information, I'm on Nvidia so this sounds really nice ! The upcoming weeks should be pretty awesome Yuzu-wise
Why would you use NSW? It be easier to just write Switch like you did Wii U.
3 letters. I'm used to it.
Nu uh, that reply doesn't fly. Wii U is 4.
I couldn't find myself anything shorter for WiiU.. WiU? WU? doesn't make sense, while NSW is used by many people (dupecheck a NSW release for example, section is called "NSW").
I know but I am talking about games that are released for both, like BotW. Must be more games like that, especially Nintendo games? Mario Kart 8 etc?
Unfortunately, Mario Kart 8 is one of the only (the only ?) 32-bits game made for the Switch and yuzu is fully built in 64-bits, so it's not going to be emulated soon on that emulator. Ryujinx, the other Switch emulator, emulates it pretty well afaik though, think you can get a locked 60FPS with it.
Usually, you're better off with Cemu which is a lot more mature, has full mod/DLC support which allows you to play it in 4K with higher-fidelity shadows, etc.
The differences between the Switch and WiiU versions of these games are paper-thin and it's mostly just about a higher resolution (+ slightly better sound, but it's nigh imperceptible and not sure it's even emulated properly atm) - but that doesn't really matter since you can upscale it within the emulator.

I remembering you can dump the 1080p Switch videos from Breath of the Wild to the folder for use in CEMU as a replacement for the 720p defaults other than that running it on the more mature and developed CEMU emulator with the various resource packs and I guess CEMU Hook is still a thing should be a solid experience.
For NVIDIA the main drivers still go with Vulkan 1.1 and extensions but I don't know if the emulator draws upon 1.2 and recent developments at all so it might not matter in the least, 443.09 VLK dev driver from today brings it up to pretty much the latest available (1.2.140.0) but might not quite match the main driver branch in terms of other features and core parts.
(AMD's on 1.2.131.x so a bit behind the latest though it should work just fine and besides stuff like DXVK not much yet draws upon the 1.2 API for Vulkan AFAIK anyway.)
Videos aren't that big of a thing either, there's a fair amount of them surprisingly enough but the usual intro, outro, credits plus some flashback sequences and a few other bits. Nice to have but nothing essential if there's no convenient pack to just grab for those files.
(Then again I suppose being Nintendo means tools for grabbing it directly from the Nintendo servers are still possible for grabbing most anything directly.)

Nope, not on the NSW. Nintendo secured their servers in the latest updates. On Wii U though you can still grab Zelda from Nintendo servers with public tools.

After Super Mario 64 was finally decompiled back into its source code, it was discovered that Nintendo failed to use the O2 compression method when they compiled the game originally. This knowledge has existed for months, but now there’s a way for anyone to get the benefits of an O2 compressed Super Mario 64 with a simple patch rather than command line kung-fu in Unix.
This patch almost completely erases the lag in Super Mario 64, including the lag caused by the infamous Bowser sub, which now runs at nearly full speed even when the entire sub is in view.
Works on native N64 hardware with an Everdrive
Download now includes patches for both the USA and Japanese versions of Super Mario 64.
