This utterly grotesque situation makes the rogue dev/employee/tester leaking the DRM-free .exe even more meaningful, may the cacodemons protect that pristine soul
Isn't Vanguard or whatever that other AC progam is, also kernel-based? I don't know much about cheating but the explanation about that one seems logical.
I yar'ed Eternal so I don't know the actual Denuvogate.
There's various software using kernel mode and Win Ring0 such as Easy Anti Cheat and BattlEye and now Denuvo and that Vanguard program.
EAC and other tested and developed programs are usually not a major deal, kernel errors lead to BSOD's and not just a crash though so it can be a problem if there's smaller compatibility issues or such.
(Well Windows10 and BattlEye had a long standing issue for compatibility but I believe it's resolved now though it shows it can be a problem.)
Denuvo's probably a better option than some other methods just expanding the anti tamper implementation with this but it's unfortunate and a bit forced especially for anyone without interest in the MP mode or this demon invasion thing for SP that is also on.
Sounds like Cheat Engine and the table for unlocking the command console still works however though I have no idea if that's a pending ban waiting to happen or not, detecting CE itself isn't a big issue even without going via kernel mode.
Would be nice if this was used for MP only and there's been one video at least where this did cause a blue screen but I haven't watched it so I don't know if it's a example video for what could happen if it's tampered with or just regular usage and whoops.

why do you think the drm-free .exe was leaked?
it was intentional by bethesda

Intentional yes, but it wasn't an act of benevolence from the Beth-E-Corp suits in my opinion. Why would they spend money and implement such protection in the first place if the plan was to release the free-for-all version on Day1 anyway? Someone working there most likely decided to secretly wear the Robin Hood hat and made it happen, although to be completely fair, considering Bethesda's incompetence we can't really exclude anything
Ok finished the solo campaign this weekend... wow what a terrible campaign it was,, the maps was so bad they made no sense the end was so dull its like they ran out of ideas... this should have been a cheap expansion only its not worthy of doom 2016 at all.....
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
