I have a friend who's got a problem with the Music looping/restarting after every battle and tetra master match. Apparently it was patched for EVERY system except PC. Anybody know anything about this?
He's using the moguri mod as well as the HD-background mod and at least one soundfix mod that only improves the audio quality, it doesn't fix the actual bug. That reddit link goes to nexus mods which in turn says:

The author (or whoever) moved on and leads to: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheZodiacTrilogy/ which is... well, I don't know what it is. Some kind of game mod with new characters etc.
I'll ask him to try that download out but I think he want to play vanilla.
A massive update to Moguri Mod for Final Fantasy IX has just been released.
Over the past year, Snouz over at Qhimm forums has been working tirelessly on redrawing and upscaling the game's textures and pre-rendered backgrounds using an AI upscaling technique that improves on the already incredible work done by Ze_PilOt . The results have been stunningly impressive, and today it was released as the next official update (v8.0) of Moguri Mod.
Additionally, several bugs present in the original PSX version have been rectified, and most FMVs have been updated to 30fps.

Only downside I can see is that some of the techniques makes the backgrounds look a bit painted but it is significantly sharper and far fewer errors especially with edges and such.
EDIT: Ah and some of the roughest areas in the original version do get a bit noisier with this method but it is still a improvement in visual clarity and there's not much that can be done short of the lost original assets being found or the game getting a remake treatment.
Not bad, although you can see by looking at some of the Imgsli links that they have cherry picked some better examples for the GIFs. There's still some loss of fidelity in a number of places, although I would expect most people would happily accept it as a trade-off in exchange for the blur removal/anti-aliasing/up-res. Kudos for them getting the results they did though. I didn't have much luck in my own experiments with ESRGAN.
Yeah the first few versions used AI upscaling and then it moved to newer algorithms of said AI upscaling together with touching up in photo editing software by hand which I would expect is almost required for consistent good results but even then filling missing data via approximation and noise means some of the data can't be reliably upscaled but overall considering the source assets worked with and their compression and base resolution it's probably as good as it can get for now.
Bridge part here to the side being mostly filled in with noise effects though details like the vegetation, tiles and other stonework in the scene still show a clarity improvement.
Pretty sure it works with any version long as the game is up to date and it's able to access the files and such that need to be updated or swapped meaning anything but the Game Pass Win10 store edition too.
(It shouldn't directly affect anything with the game exe far as I know though some of the engine .dll files get updated if Memoria is used to enable some of these features as I remember from earlier builds.)
Is the game fixed? I was gonna buy it but many people said the release is bug ridden and the dev doesn't do anything about it. As I looked now there is still a lot of bug reports.

I finally played all the way through FF9 with the Moguri Mod last year. Had no issues and it was awesome. I was never able to finish the original, always abandoning it partway through because some other new game came out. I'm glad my first time finishing was with the mod, as I feel like that's the way it was meant to be experienced.
