Yeah a lot of people who don't use their accounts on Uplay got stolen and used for cheating at least in R6 from what i recall .
Use a 2 step verification.
But i don't know about that email that you got ....
i get that shit from ebay also when i'am not logged in for a year or so because of "security reasons", i know i should write them that i will not allow this spam, but i'am to lazy

This happened to me (someone stole my account and got banned in R6 Siege).
I had some e-mails about "suspicious activity" but never got the account deactivated. First in May last year someone from Egypt and then China tried (or did?) to login with my account. Then in January this year from Malaysia, Thailand, Algeria and Romania. At least that's what the e-mails say. The last time I activated the 2-steps-verification and so far I am not getting such e-mails but maybe they will try again in few months? I have nothing than free games in uPlay and never used a CC there so I doubt anyone using my account can do shit with it.
On a side note, I just logged to the uPlay launcher and the store doesn't even load. Good ol' Ubi.
