I had no idea Alex Wesker was even a thing. Laughing

I enjoyed RE7 and I hope this one will come out around the same time next year.

Biohazard Declassified are back again with a fresh helping of rumours for the still-unannounced Resident Evil 8. As always, none of these have been confirmed, so take it all with a few salt shakers. Nonetheless, many of these rumours do coincide with the other rumours that have been floating around.

For starters, Occultism is a big part in the game. Similar to Resident Evil 4 (which is rumoured to be in the remake machine), we have a cult that worships the creatures created from a new virus. Going with the previously-rumoured hallucinations being a factor in the game, the virus has permeated throughout the air, causing these hallucinations.

The main antagonist is someone called Alan R., a count living in a castle near the village where the game takes place. Longtime series antagonist Alex Wesker is also lurking in the background. The game will feature a village environment, along with a castle, caves and a in general a larger focus on outdoor settings.

As previously reported, Resident Evil VII‘s Ethan makes a return, and will be joined by a new playable character named Emily, who is a village resident looking for her father. A new game mechanic is the flashlight, which will offset the game’s dark lighting and settings. As expected, it can run out of batteries, but slowly recharges by itself over time.

This next rumour ventures into SPOILER territory, so if you haven’t played RE7, steer clear.
 Spoiler:

As for the enemies, the werewolf-like enemies leaked earlier are back, while according to the leak, other enemies include something pale and human-like. Dogs, wolves and creatures that resemble lickers also appear. The general appearance of the enemies matches up in theme with the earlier leaks by Twitter user Dusk Golem.

Additional information received by Biohazard Declassified wasn’t revealed, due to it being “unheard” by their sources, and if true, “give away a lot of main plot points”. Regardless, if what they’ve said before is true, then we might very well hear about RE8 in the near future, given its rumoured 2021 release.

That "spoiler" doesn't sound good at all. Sad

To be honest *inserts confession bear* while I am fond of the series I've never particularly cared about the various characters or the plot(s) in general simply because they're...not exactly quality. Resident Evil is all about the gameplay for me, with its peculiar atmosphere, the exploration and the methodical survival horror, and VII nailed all these without too many B-movie-like parades.

I hope VIII can follow on the same route possibly without campy kung-fu werewolves and flying witches shouting "you can't hide forever. Playtime is ovah!"

I agree, I gave up on the "plot" a long time ago Laughing

But I liked the gameplay of VII, so I'm looking forward to this for sure.

Yeah, it's time.

Cross-gen era will be big this time I think, with cross-compatibility being the easiest it's ever been you can jump on the next-gen wagon while also keeping the 100 million PS4s out there to target, which is where the money is and will be for a while.

Good time to release some big stuff over the next 1-2 years.

Yes and No. It will be in case with Xbox but it always was like that.
However, in case with PS5 due to big differences in some hardware arch - I dont think PS5 games that exclusively gonna be using these specific hardware capabilities (mostly related to data streaming) will be cross-gen.

I like it, i mean i need to see proper gameplay but i hope it doesn't play like 7, i love the more actiony RE games, the atmosphere reminds me of Resident Evil 4 which if my fav RE, so i hope that they also took cues from RE4 gameplay.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

2 games I have been playing recently have both been cross-gen. Regularly playing with and against Ps4 and XBox 1 owners in Predator hunting grounds and .. although I haven't tried the online yet, Need For Speed Heat. If C&C were on the consoles too, that would probably be cross-gen too. (Consolers would only be disadvantaged in that game if two players of equal skill were pitted head to head. No mouse and keyboard, a skillfull player with a gamepad will still beat a mediocre player on m/kb.. )

Has the PS5 real time ray-tracing like current PC tech?.

There's a reason why the director of RE7 had to reassure the players that the game isn't about supernatural/occult. The trailer could be misleading again because it's not the most amazing cut, but we'll see.

Curious that they didn't list RE8 on Steam yet.

From what was said about its development in the previous months, it was a mid budget current gen game (it was REvelations 3) that its surprisingly highly positive reception during testing convinced Capcom to spend one more year on it and convert it to next gen RE8.

So its origins might not allow it to be as impressive as it could had been graphically, but meh, a true next gen RE won't be that far away anyway as the franchise is close to having yearly installments, so I'll allow it as long as the gameplay is great, and then RE4make or whatever will look even more next gen.

Quote:
Experience survival horror like never before in the eighth major installment in the storied Resident Evil franchise - Resident Evil Village.

Set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again.

FEATURES
• First-Person Action – Players will assume the role of Ethan Winters and experience every up-close battle and terrifying pursuit through a first-person perspective.

• Familiar Faces and New Foes – Chris Redfield has typically been a hero in the Resident Evil series, but his appearance in Resident Evil Village seemingly shrouds him in sinister motives. A host of new adversaries inhabiting the enigmatic village will relentlessly hunt Ethan and hinder his every move as he attempts to make sense of the new nightmare he finds himself in.

• A Living, Breathing Village – More than just a mysterious backdrop for the horrifying events that unfold in the game, the village is a character in its own right with mysteries for Ethan to uncover and terrors to escape from.

Best RE Game ? IMHO one of the worst, changed too much for my taste. 0 to 3 are best and ever will be, no doubt.

3 already started changing the series with it's focus on more action with the dodge button, plentiful ammo, explosive barrels scattered around and numerous enemies. It was the precursor to the "action horror" focus of 4-6. So you should have said 0-2 instead.

1 and 2 are still amazing.
