Friking game, the most frustrating mission with a river and I can't finish it because of old-school full of holes mechanics, my troops on the other side of the river are all dead and I can't reach the tank from the other side sooo now I can't finish the mission.
Spoiler:
That's nod 11, having a hard time beating that on medium. The remaster is so much harder then the original.
It seems they did some AI tweaks, and at some aspects ai is godlike, like running over you're infantry with tanks (every try seems so succeed) and the a-10 strikes always hurt don't remember any of that stuff in the original. Only solution is to abuse save, not much fun though.
I watched an old vid (like wtf how to win this), the mission was a cakewalk back in the day.
Yeah the air strikes can be a game breaker, they take out my specialist at the begging and I'm screwed sam sites are USELESS I built 5 of them and they can't stop shit.
Hint for the above mission, pick the country on the right it's a much easier map, same principle though, forgot the name but it's 11B (don't pick A).
So, I finally finished the GDI campaign (on normal). The last mission was brutal. While the unit damage is "normal", the AI gets seriously endless money it seems. He always rebuilds everything. So you better get the job done or don't bother

Not really, but you do have to cheese the mechanics of the game. The last GDI mission, NOD has 2 construction yards to deal with. The first base, just use engineers to take over. Ion Cannon to destroy the laser tower and go in with tanks and humvees to destroy any defenses. Then APC full of engineers and take over buildings. If you don't, AI rebuilds.

Yeah, forgot about cheesing. I made the mistake thinking the enemy would hunt my harvesters so i kept them in my base when at danger. Of course they don't . The enemy is just running a script, they don't care about that stuff. Also forgot that they attack the same fucking spot again and again and again. Now the game is as easy as i remember.
I try to cheese the least possible. But in the last mission, I sandbagged the left entrance, so I didn't have to defend it all the time. But it was evening out by the AI having a turret that it kept rebuilding (normally AI doesn't rebuild stuff that is not in their base/s).
Why does infantry sometimes just walk towards an enemy instead of shooting? Even though they may easily be in range?
I am on mission GDI 8 by the way, on medium, good so far although there is a lot of trial and error in a couple of missions. Music is fucking awesome, these remastered tracks make up one of my favourite OSTs ever. I will copy them to my phone
Damn, I have to extract the wav files and then I have to convert them to mp3? And their filenames are crap?
Isn't there a way to download the OST with proper names in mp3 or flac format?
If you get hold of a program called OSBIEditor64bits (it's a freeware program easily found on the net. Extract the zip and open the program. Go to File/Open and look for the MUSIC.MEG file in the CnC install folder, it will load up all the sounds in the game including the music tracks. They are all in WAV format, then you can just extract the music you want as WAV files.
Theres loads of free convertor programs on the webs or something like Audacity VGA some of them convert in batches. Just look for the OST from the original game and I believe all the song tracks are still the same and labelled easily. ie: Hells March, JustDoItUp etc etc. It's bit fiddly but short off finding an OST on the web it's probably still the easiest way to go.
Ignore the timestamps as this was taken from a continous play OST on youtube, this is probabaly all the tracks though I presume. Some guy did all the hard work in identifying them all.

Doing NOD now and damn, while almost all missions are rather short, you really have to redo most of the times a couple of times to learn the patterns and timers...
Mission 11 and fuck that warthog...
You think you're fine and then whoosh, all your units are burning...
or the ship that has a reach of... I don't know... a MILLION KILOMETERS! And also kills half your army in one swift passage...
I am so tempted to use the patch/mod above, but I am recording my missions for a playthrough for steam and I cannot use mods, or it makes the whole thing kind of obsolete, lol.

I watched a vid of mission 11 in the original game. The missle boat was bugged and didn't fire at all and the a-10 didn't target you're high value targets, now it always targets you're commando/obelisk or troop concetrations and it never misses. So it's way harder then it was.
11b is easy though when you expand with the obelisk towards the river to kill the gunboat and sandbag another one more north. You only need one obelisk to repell every attack, I used a second as reserve in case of a a-10 attack.
Funny thing is that the game is balanced around bugs and exploits. Take nod mission 12 were 2 mammoths are waiting and the only way around is to make them target the construction yard vehicle while out of reach. They just ignore anything that is shooting at them

Definitely more challenging now But I finished it now. As with all missions, once you know how to, it becomes fucking childs play...

Aye the first game definitely didn't age well, some really old and tired trial and error mission design in there. It's clear to me now why I only finished it once and RA plenty times
And the last allied mission, if you let the truck escape you won't get reinforced and you can't build your base I was stuck wondering around until I figured I have to restart.
