The debate isn't whether one or 2 people think Daikatana is good or bad, it's about what most users think about game. Daikatana was a failure because it was considered as a bad game, now you are free to like it (like headshot is too).
Same with Duke Nukem Forever, and I loved it, but i'm very well aware i'm a minority.
Anyway. Every people is free to have opinions. I was just saying, seriously, that headshot is always too entushiastic for all games. I'm sure himself he will agree with this. It's not a critic, good for him.
But I hope you won't rely on him before buying a game You'd better read multiple reviews!
As a bonus, here is an early sneak peek of headshot reviewing "Ghost of Tsushima" : game is great, amazing, revolutionnary, a masterpiece. I could run in an open world for the whole night and it wasn't boring at all. Great game, GOTY, even better than TLOU2".
So yeah... (and I have 0 idea how good or bad the game will be, that's not the point here). He will say the same shit for every game, even Forza or Gran Turismo are the most amazing games and master pieces so.. not sure why you wanna rely on his reviews
But good for him, I wish I was that excited about a video game. But thank god, at least I don't have to preorder 10 games a month
I care about it because I have been a gamer for more than 30 years and I don't want my favorite hobby associated with the toxic, racist and/or mysogynist part of the community that is far too often mentioned in news articles that include the phrase "review bombing".
...really? So you're drinking that gamerjourno bullshit cool-aid now?

When disliking something that others enjoy, some individuals find it's not enough to just loudly declare their hate for the subject matter, but actively attack people who actually enjoy themselves. Probably in a religious like fanaticism, hoping to bring the lost sheep to enlightenment, because obviously their taste and opinions are superior. It is embarrassing to read some posts in this thread.
Nothing surrounding this release is new, all the drama played out many times before, and yet the reactions are the same. Even from people on this board, who are not new to this hobby. Maybe, it's the opposite - the longer you game, the more your inflated pro gamer ego feels like your own opinions worth more.
As for the game, around half way through, so far enjoying myself. The formula is sure tired, and the game is probably too long for that type of game play, but as long as you go in aware it's summer blockbuster you'll be fine, especially if you like some eye candy.

Great post, couldn't agree more with your analysis.
I don't want my favorite hobby associated with the toxic, racist and/or mysogynist part of the community
They don't exist, at least not to any greater extent than for any other community. Lefties and the organizations associated with them will always claim otherwise of course, that racism and sexism is everywhere and in everything. If not they would be rendered obsolete (which they are, since long). It's a scam and fake news media obviously pushes for it as well since they're 100% politicized, it's all propaganda.

Whatever you want to call it, really. I actually don't follow games journalism that much, the only serious review channel I watch regularly atm would be ACG on youtube, because I like the depth of his reviews and I often agree with him. But I visit and engage in a lot of gaming communities. Like I said, gaming is my favorite pass time and talking about games follows as a close second. Over the years I have met awesome people through this hobby, online and in person. I think it is spectacular how far the medium has come in the last few decades, especially in terms of how widespread gaming is and how it connects people from all over the world.
But there IS a part of this community that has an absolutely backwards view on the world and every single time a game deviates from this worldview it has to be because of some secret agenda and nothing else. Open some threads about TLOU2 on reddit and sort by controversial and you will be amazed at how much bigotry and vile hate you will find just because a game developer had the audacity to tell a story the way he wanted to.
User reviews have become worthless because a few hundred or thousand hateful idiots are enough to absolutely tank the score and every single time it's for some insanely stupid reason. Women, homosexuals, trans people and minorities are severely underrepresented in video games, especially as the player character, even though they are all part of this community. I don't have a problem if a game forces me to play as one of those groups. If that makes me "woke", drinking the cool-aid or a hipster so be it.
It's happening again (and it will keep happening): criticism, either emotional or logical against one or more aspects of the game (story, characters, gameplay) being used and turned into ammunition for yet another "OMG the gaming community is so vile and bigoted" campaign.
Same shit with ME3's ending and the criticizing some cheap writing (starchild and tricolor ending) equals "entitled gamers" bullshit.
And the "underrepresented" argument does not make much sense because after all, weren't and aren't those authors telling their own stories, in the way they want? They'll do so using the characters they want and are comfortable to use and nobody should fault them for that. Especially nowadays, why risk daring to write (or even have in your game) trans, black or whichever underrepresented group? One wrong move and get your ass blasted all over the internet and called a... bigot

after ive seen more of the story i dont get why people are saying it was without reason. people just saw the first part then went on a rampage hate without knowing the full picture. meh, its what ive been saying the first time i saw the spoilers....to wait and play and see the full thing. questions for everything people said it was a dumb move there is answers for everything.
abby isnt a fucking trans you dumb fucks, another case that you didnt see in the spoilers but you were fast to judge, she is just well built, woman cant get big? get the fuck out, they even show the gym. vurt fucking moron and your fucking woke spam shit.
the story is a direct continuation of the previous ones ending and exploring the consequences of that, its really a part 2 and not like a sequel with new story etc. an eye for an eye revenge story that has been told many times, that neither sides of the story are right.
the game really dosent deserve this hate, the spoilers didnt show everything but now its too late as people minds are already made and even if you show them the rest they will not accept it.
and there were no expectations being subverted, i dont know what koolaid youve been drinking, this is no star wars or game of thrones like skillup said, im curious what his spoiler review will say
I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes..

headshot is free to like every games, but it's so funny I like to mock him.
Almost as funny is the fact that you’re the only one! Having said that I’m used to it and it’s very much a long running joke now. And for the record not every game is good to me and I also have played bad games! When I’m less tired I’ll try and think of some but I need sleep after playing the game for the last 9 hours!
Clocked up 26 hours so far and just starting Seattle Day 3 as Abby. This game is monstrous! It could easily have been two separate games with the first half as Ellie called Part 2 and the 2nd half as Abby called Part 3 lol. Totally see why it was hailed as Naughty Dogs most ambitious game ever! Explored all over the place but there’s still stuff I know I missed. I know I didn’t fully explore the map on Seattle Day 1 as there is a trophy for that which I didn’t get. Can’t go back to it either so will have to get that on 2nd playthrough! I did get the trophy for finding and opening all the safes though which was pretty surprising. Should get to the end later today I think finally.
Well, from my observations headshot seems to be one of the very few who actually enjoys gaming on this forum I was going to wait for a used copy, but I'll just buy it now thanks to your input.

While I understand what you're writing and that dismissals of valid criticism on the grounds of "you're bigoted/entilted" is vile when it's not applicable - a lot of comments are mostly about
Spoiler:
Joel dies, but he was my favourite ! While I understand the sentiment, it was very obvious he had it coming.. plot armour is only as good as long it protects the characters you like
are we ignoring the whole "Abby is trans", "this game is pandering/SJW/woke" crapeola as well ?
The sheer proportion of comments mentioning either is not little by any stretch, it's somewhat contained on metacritic where people know their reviews are "more" public, and blows up anywhere else. I don't think I need to bring in quotes or screenshots ?
Those are indeed out there, but I think we both know which of the two will be picked up by the gamejournos (and potentially some of the mainstream clickbaiters too), once again trying to drown any legit criticism on the game.
I don't have a problem about your spoiler, but I'm guessing that after that
Spoiler:
having to play as abby forced on you, especially if you formed a connection with joel isn't going to make a lot of people happy. But... no, ofc people won't like playing as abby because she doesn't look like tifa from FF7 or some shit like that And the ending, if the spoilers I've read are right really isn't much better.
Saw people comparing this to TLJ, with the "subverting your expectations" theme and it will be interesting to see how it will be received when compared to that movie.
Also, wonder on how this might contribute to the upcoming TV series success.

Ok, I think i might change my mind: from boring to actually good.
Once the game opens up and you are free to explore its really good.
-Shot someone but didn't clearly see him and he was really really screaming, I mean WTF? Later when the battle stopped I walked over and : ah ok, it was your hand blown off
-There are a lot of stuff to find.
-My only - is that your comapnion is idiot. When sneaking there were 2 zombies next to each other, so we could take them on if she would help me, but no, she didn't know that is what i wanted to do.....
Also she is more like a navigator in a rally: to your right! oh, fuck you, shoot the thing, not just call it out!
-Storywise its piss poor so far but at least we have an objective to avenge the old guys death.
This gameplay doesn't have the strength to carry the game for these extra hours even less so with the story's burden on top.
Yeah you weren't kidding.
Fucking hell that last 10 hours felt like a chore, especially with how gameplay is still pretty much the same. I only liked the first game because of the character dynamics and their journey which this game did not have.
And that ending, well you know the writers failed when a ton of people are dissatisfied with that ending.
Spoiler:
"i'm here for revenge but revenge bad so ok i won't kill you but let's just ignore the hundreds i've massacred to get here because your life is the only one that matters"
Since this is the story they wanted to tell, they should maybe have us play as Abby for the first half of the game, let players learn more about her and her friends and start caring for them, then only reveal that flashback from 4 years back right before she goes golfing, and then have the hunt for Abby be the second part of the game.
But they sure have brave writers, what with forcing people to play as someone they probably dislike for a good chunk of the game.
Story failed for me. Especially that ending. I mean, yes, I get that revenge is bad but how it eventually played out was so hamfisted.
They sure fucked up the intrigue and I'm sure for many (including myself) the story couldn't fully recover from there.
@AKofC
Spoiler:
I agree with you, the narrative sequence is in reverse which has no chance against the emotional attachments built by the original game.
The storytelling pretty much contradicts itself to justify the gameplay/action. First, the wolves and scars are described as monsters/psychos/lunatics to make Ellie's crime feel less evil. Then you are given perspective, to justify Abby's initial crime which triggered the whole mess. The ending drags on for hours and there's not even much closure to it. Revenge is bad and everyone suffers. Alright?!
The storytelling comes off as pretentious and lacks the execution to pull this off. The pacing is questionable due the extreme padding and I found extremely annoying the moments of artificial agency when you are forced to press a button during cutscenes as if it was your action. The game would have been better off if it ended after the first half.
I gotta say that I loved the Ellie/Dina dynamic, it was very well written and sweet.
And that ending, well you know the writers failed when a ton of people are dissatisfied with that ending.

Spoiler:
why would killing abby be the right choice? you play the game with 2 characters, you see each others perspective on things, you see no side is right, so why would they ignore everything they showed you only to go ahead and get your revenge? it dosent make any sense. its an eye for an eye.
people are mad because they missed the point of the main theme, they mad couse they fav character died and there wasnt justice, they just ignored abbys story like half the game was for nothing, ellie and joel did horrible things, horrible things got to them.
having to play as abby first wouldnt have this much shock value, to me it makes more interesting to find out why she did it.
