if you liked the gameplay in the first one and don't mind playing the same thing with minor changes to gameplay and pretty much no more of those crate puzzles, then give it a whirl
story they wanted to tell is fine, but the way they told it was just bad. i think their writers failed to write things in such a way that would achieve what they were trying to achieve. instead it just gave us really bad pacing and made the game kinda feel tedious for me.
but again. i didn't like the gameplay of the first game, i also don't like the gameplay in uncharted, but i loved the first game for the journey and relationship between the two characters so that's pretty much why i didn't like this game
so yeah, if you enjoyed the gameplay in the first one, give it a go
Let's not forget all the false advertisement that went into this game. We were lied about various narrative aspects of the game. Sony abusing DMCA strikes to stop youtubers from talking about the leaks. Lastly, the "journalists" pretty much signed an NDA to prevent them from talking about the game's second half.

I think most of the time they usually hide these stuff due to obvious spoilers.
Like they didn't mention in LA noire that hey the initial guy will be fired so you will play a different one later on
Like they didnt mention in RDR2 that hey Arthur dies so you will play Marston after that
Like they didn mention in TRAOD that Lara will be out of business so you will play as a guy instead
Sony and ND were well aware many of the fans would not like this story and they covered up as much as possible to sell the game. Reviewers said they were not allowed to talk about the second half of the game. And let's not forget, the characters were swapped in the trailers just to mislead the fans...
what with the model swaps on the trailers which I don't think was done in good faith as they only did that to obscure something happening at the start of the game which is quite different from the two listed below.

Not sure about Tomb Raider as I didn't like the gameplay, so never got out of the Paris areas, but the first two don't really count because those things only happen towards the end of the game. So there's nothing dishonest about the trailers. It would be dishonest had
Spoiler:
Arthur died up in the mountains at the start of the gamae or if Cole dies while out on Patrol before ever making Detective.

Ellie reached the 3rd day in seattle, so you basically swap character after ellie's part ends...
Yeah there is the epilogue in santa barbara.....
Oh there's no problem with that, and I don't think that's what Nodrim is talking about.
It's more to do with
Spoiler:
Joel being presented in the trailers like he was going out with Ellie on whatever quest she was on when it was actually just a model swap.
As for playing Abby, my only issue with it is the poor execution/sequencing of events that they decided on. I still think you should have started the game with her so that the only real flashback is to the one that set her on her path but only show that towards the middle of the game before she goes golfing.
That way there's a chance players will care about all these other characters instead of tossing them down the mountain of fucks to give at the start of the game and having them try and climb back up.
Oh and also the whole Lev thing which is just a Joel and Ellie lite that doesn't really work because Joel and Ellie did it better.
Overall I think they made a serious mistake having you play Ellie in this sequel. They should have just set it in another state with new characters with their own problems to solve without Joel or Ellie showing up unless they wanted to do fan service.

I see. I didn't know about that trailer stuff.
Well for me: I've played through the 1st one and didn't really care about neither of the characters so Joel ending up in the 2nd as he did, well sad story bro.
At least the sequel had some clear goal whereas in the first one sometimes I got this: ok why are we doing this feeling?

You forgot the most obvious one, MGS2 with Raiden in 3/4 of the game "Snake" sureeee.
Hell even MGS5 was confusing.
Also, they didn't swap models in TLOU2 trailers. During cameras changes, they just mixed flashback portions with non flashbacks one making you think you were playing with Joel too.
I was one of the idiots, who kept away from all spoilers. I really liked the first game, found it actually very nice, emotional and just deep enough. The character arcs and motivations were really nice.
So I play 12 or so hours of Ellie, am bored of the writing already, dislike that they killed Joel, but felt no feeling of revenge for Joel - because it was all so poorly written. Anyway, I follow along the story, there is no chemistry whatsoever between Dina and Ellie, but whatever, at least gameplay is good, graphics are nice for a console game.
Then I slowly realize I have to play with that abomination Abby for 12 hours for some lesson from Kneel Cuckman. Fuck that. Instant uninstall.
That is false advertising. This game has lazy, illogical writing in it just for the sake of the agenda. And yes, Abby is disgustingly swol, but even if that wasn't the case, I would have stopped the game at the same point as well.
It has all been said before, so I will not reiterate, why it is a shit game. But to get to a point in gaming, where a tripple A production is ONLY about pushing a liberal agenda, and not only that, but pushing it in such a smug, arrogant and lecturing manner is sad.
I want my games to be fucking games again. No one cares what the idiot Hollywood actors thing about politics, and no one cares about Cuckman's SJW lectures.
Fuck you, Kneel Cuckman, you are too dumb to lecture other people. This game hurt my brain.
Cuck journos giving it 10/10: also fuck right off, cucks.
A bit much calling Cuckman bold... he's just doing the hip thing, what's currently trendy in media and in hollywood..
Pushing for conservative ideas, that would be extremely bold and they'd be under heavy fire from all major gaming sites, the angry little twitter mob would demand their death and so forth. Cuckman has his ass covered from all angles, he can play the victim, he has all/most of the gaming sites backing him up. Nothing bold about it.
He obviously knew they'd lose a part of the fans and perhaps a bit of the sales, a very small price to pay to instead gain even more recognition by the right people/media.
I finished it and it was a great game. A good send off to a great Playstation generation. I have no idea what all the lessons, SJW, agenda comments are about, but that's just me I guess. The first half had better story/characters, the second half had much more varied locations and more fun gameplay. Story overall was as average as the first game, but that's my opinion. I liked the performances (VA, animation, directing) and character interactions of these games, not the story itself.
I understand what they were trying to do with Abby's physique, but there's a difference between mascular woman and transsexual. They went overboard there.

8.5/10
Yes, I think it's a much better game than the first one.
Even storywise I would say it's better.
My only dissapointment was that in the 1st part of the game you get this open world like horse riding stuff, and I was like "oh this is good" and thought that at least Abby will have an open world segment like this, but no
