So, gameplay question: how does this game handle death and save/loading?
As in, what happens when you die? Do you respawn nearby? Can you reload? Do you lose anything when you die? Are there checkpoints or can you save anywhere?
(Basically, does it have any elements of souls-like games?)

No Souls-like elements, a lot of AC elements if you like those.

Haven't played an AC game in ages...
so let's see, does that mean that there are auto-saves and dying simply lets you respawn at a recent checkpoint/save with nothing lost?

You go back to your last save. You can save manually at camps and it autosaves in some situations

Doesn't look like it atm not even sure Sony wants to work with Denuvo since the CEO and some of the team worked on SecuROM for Sony DADC before they started the company there might still be some bad blood from the split back then.

A woman walks into a hair salon. The hair stylist scans her, discovers she lives in a rich part of Berlin, and says her services will cost 50 EUR.
A while later, another woman walks into the same salon. The hair stylist scans her as well, discovers she's from a poor part of Berlin, and says her services will cost 35 EUR instead.
Finally, a third woman walks into the salon, and the scan reveals she's visiting from Argentina. The stylist says she'll charge her 20 EUR for the same services.

Spoiler: | If you think that's fair, then kudos to you. I'd say it's a classical case of discrimination, and that regional pricing for online products should be gone altogether. It's roughly equivalent to adjusting your prices based on statistical data on income, meaning that one could use the same reasoning to argue that prices should differ between genders or races (which is completely wrong imo ).
The only valid reason for price differences is when you have to pay different salaries for people in different countries (e.g., different costs in supermarkets), but that's not the reason for price differences on online platforms such as Steam.
Anyway, /rant off |
|
It's not like that at all. The hair stylist wouldn't waste their time with anyone who wanted to pay less than 50. It's a really bad analogy. Try and look at it from a business perspective. You simply can't sell your product in poorer countries for the price you value it at, but it's simply a copy of data and so you can sell it at a lower cost and make profit.
Before you say something like, 'that means they could sell it everywhere at the lower cost', the number one priority of a company is to make profit and they aren't a charity. If you owned the business you would do the same

I would absolutely do the same. In fact, if I were allowed to, as a SW company I'd charge every user with precisely the maximum that they'd be willing to pay for that product... I'd customize prices not just based on one's country of origin, but also on other statistical data that on average affect one's wealth such as district of residence, skin color, age etc. To be clear: I don't blame companies at all for using regional pricing.
What I strongly object to is that setting prices based on some statistical price predictors is forbidden (setting prices based on age, district, city, skin color etc.), while other statistical price predictors are ok (country of residence). It's fundamentally inconsistent... and I believe that while it may seem to work reasonably now, in the long term a consistent policy on price customization would lead to a better outcome.

Or maybe it just needs 100gb to install... that's a common thing on steam, that it needs like double the space of the actual final size on disk.
