I've finished all four of the mini-campaigns and my thoughts: I'm glad I didn't pay for it. It's nice that they added some new cosmetics, but the narrative side of it is just bullshit. Judging by the last mission I gather it is meant to be half a joke, but the whole thing just left me mildly pissed off with how they keep fucking with the plot.

This game, with the expansion, is fucking awesome! That's all I wanted to say.

Phoenix Point seems like it has turned into a cheap knockoff now, and it remains to be seen how moddable it is (I suspect a lot less than X2).
X3 must have been in development for a couple of years by now. I wouldn't be surprised if we get some sort of tease for it by the end of the year.

It is very entertaining (and addictive) indeed, I've only played the vanilla patched-up game and still had a bloody good time with it. I'm absolutely not a master tactician though so the usual cruel randomness, timed missions and plain bad luck made me rant more than once, but that's also the beauty of it
The destructive environments, better variety and more fleshed out RPG elements/customization were major pluses that made the sequel more appealing to me than the first nu-com. One day I'll have to find the time to play the modded DCB-approved full-package as well.

I keep playing it... I just finished a run through the other day...
I REALLY hope LW2 works well on WOTC, that would be pretty epic...the A Better... series of mods definiely increases the challenge and would be superb in conjunction with LW2...
XCOM 3 is just begging to be made.....

There were plans to make a compatible version but they could not agree on a fee with Firaxis.

Is LW2 even that essential anymore? There's a lot of mods for WotC that adds up to a pretty freaking rich playthrough. RPGO alone covers everything LW2 offers in terms of weapons, tactic choices, etc.

LW2-WOTC is already available as an alpha. It's not being done by Pavonis though, they are off making their own game.

LW2 was kind of garbage though IMO, but to each their own. Although I did like the ability to assign units to specific squads. I wouldn't mind that as a separate mod.

This was a great game, I can't wait for a sequel! I did not like the cliffhanger ending and the Templars seemed a bit out of place.

BitReactor is working on a Star Wars themed X-Com like title. No clue if that ever gets finished or is worth a damn though.
