this spectacle was as good and if not better due to no magic n blabla and a full armored knights horse charge of a what seemed like a hundred or more
butsadly ofcourse the lighter fake armor as it was normal horses galoping and not the real strong farmer cart pulling n plowing horses that were the only ones at the time that could carry such heavy weight
True, there's little horse armour in Excalibur, but that fits the era of the early middle ages.
And you can't have an Arthurian saga without Merlin, although the magic Excalibur is grounded and somewhat realistic (calling fogs and stuff, not changing people into fish or squirrels )
Plus, it's from 1981, so no CGI, everything is real. And it has a young Liam Neeson too It doesn't get more epic that this:
Except none of that armor in that movie makes any sense.
Arthur, if there ever was an equivalent in real history, would have been around 500-600AD and the type of full plate armor they wear is like 14th+ century
sorry, the king takes the cake, maybe its cause im biased cause it looks more like a true medieval 2 total war battle line of the late era heavy foot and horse knights, the helmets, the pikes, the pickaxe and the daggers to get under the armor
loved it
280 extras in suits damn and still looks tiny, imagine a true 5000+ vs 5000 engagement and the moshpit it would have really become
they say they did no to little cgi, and i think it was worth every penny, and i bet anyone who owns a suit would have went there for free just for the fun of it
I grew up with Excalibur, nothing will convince me.
But I'm always up for an epic knights movie, so downloading now Let's hope it's more than just one (albeit well-made) battle

Oh I absolutely enjoyed watching the king. But it clearly took a lot of "artistic liberties" But I am actually quite fine with that, while watching a movie. Reality a lot of times is a lot more "gory" and "steril", than their cinematic counter parts.
how u mean gory ? full plated knights rarely died, they were nobility and were expected to live and be ransomed, only agincourt was a rare exception where the longbow prooved super effective combined with the mud and also the fact they didnt leave prisoners alive, they really did kill the hundreds of nobles they captured after the fight if what i read was right causing a huge upset and decemation to french noble families
tell us a movie then that did it right kingdom of heaven had some brutal stuff
from how i perceive medieval 100y war warfare: it was rich cunts with OP gear having fun slaughtering revolting peasants, they would never ride out to battle if there was a good chance they would die, their gear and wealth was their life insurance
Cinematic brutality is quite different from "reality". I^m not talking about the knights, which by the way got butchered once on the ground and faced by soldiers with maces, hammers etc.
But I know what you mean and yes, that was still true at that point in history. What I meant is, for example, how the English slaughtered the french prisoners prior to the battle at Agincourt. I think in the movie, it was mentioned, but that was it. While in reality, you'd show the English slaughtering several thousand french soldiers. Also the whole movie is quite "English leaning" and makes the French out to be those "Evil" monsters. A lot like how Russians are depicted during the cold war and to this day.
Remember that the french fought in their country for almost a hundred year at this point against the English invaders.
It ain't Excalibur, doesn't come close either But it was very enjoyable and well made. (even though it has just one, albeit well-made, battle, as expected )
I already thought that girl in the end looked a lot like Vanessa Paradis, but with Depp-like eyes. Good genes

The Boat (2018).
Kind of nice mystery/survival/horror. Kept me interested. While the pacing is good and the actor is good the script is a bit lazy, there's nothing too interesting/smart about it. It's really more focused on mystery than anything else, i think it could have been made way more creepy, though they probably wanted to keep it away from getting cheesy. Quite suspensful and a bit original at least. 6/10
Ah, so you watched it buddy I enjoyed it, and for a low budget production, it wasn't bad, but I really could have got out of that bathroom within 10 mins, lol
If you're up for something absolutely horrific...
i really tried to put myself into that situation while watching... ugh, made me feel sick...
That woman though, such a bad-ass, totally getting Sarah Connor vibes haha
15 mins of war, well it barely had enough content to entertain me 15 mins ... do urselves a favor and just skip forward a bunch of times to the end for some brainless pew pew rambo balony
story is complete hog wash, the operation looked completely retarded , a mg42 spraying at a bus ... and only one person hit inside ... yeah right, ask the guys at dday normandy what a mg42 did to their landing craft ....
just pure bullshit directing and action, like cmon snipers not even shooting machine gun nests first... just another french fuckup i guess , meh doubt they had any military advisor or something, anyone with half a brain would have seen the flaws a mile away
Spoiler:
im supposed to bilieve a special forces team ignores orders, has some fancy shooting, and then after they pull of their nice synchronous shot, they have no plan whatsoever after and just run into bullets and start ramboing roflol ... the more i think about it more i hate it, goddamn directors on crack cocaine
Autopsy of Jane Doe 7.5/10
Well made, although I didn't find it particularly scary (or tense even). The first half, the autopsy basically, I liked most. You can really tell when the movie shifts gear to the 'horror' part.
Palm Springs 5/10
Only because I had nothing else. It's fine for that, just set expectations to very low

Sputnik - 4.5/10
First 2/3 of the movie are alright but than it just goes into nonsense.
