Other than a large erection?

I planted some chilli seeds at the start of may. First time I've ever tried something like this. Was at a bit of a loose end during lockdown so thought fuck it.

There's 3 chilli types, habanero, jalapeno and cayenne. And 3 god knows what sweet peppers.

Fuck knows which is which, I lost the sticks with the names on.

I was growing a beard but the heatwave made me get rid of it. Razz

You should look into making hot sauces if you're growing chillies.

Yeah, a pair of zeppelins as balls. Fuck covid-19!

Seriously, three monstera deliciosa, a lil' tomato plant, a bunch of pothos from cutting an old (but gold) one... tiny cute garden we have.

Yeah, a bunch of stuff.

Zucchini
Cucumber
Tomatoes
Potatoes
Paprika
Thymes
Peas
Carrot
Corn
Oregano
Parsley
Catnip
Chilly
Sallad
Some other spices I forgot.

If I count the trees that were there before we moved:
Apple and cherry

It increased quite a bit compared to our first year in this house (which was last year) and the wife seems to have plans to expand that a bit further.

Looking at the neighbourhood it seems the covid period has inspired many more people to have a vegetable garden. First year of us living here it was just us and one other. Now most people grow stuff.

I'm not much into gardening (I do help out), its mostly the wife that is really into it. I do more of the cooking.

Taste is like Cauliflower but better.

And some Scarlet Emperor Beans again

Giant Sunflower >4m (hailstorm damage on leaves)

Red Kuri Squash

Young Brussels Sprouts (can be harvested as late as February)

I'll have to try Brussels. I never have much going on after September. Your squash looks big already, did you start early in the season? Also, you use tarp. Why don't you mulch?

I love the fractal chou btw

I'm doing Winterproof stuff this year for exactly that reason, so I can harvest all year round!
Other than Brussels Sprouts, I'm also doing: Leek, Curly Kale, Chicory (Sugar Loaf).
All of those can take low temperatures and snow and can be harvested from November, some as late as February.

Squash photo is back from early July even. I seeded them back in April.
I use both a tarp and mulch on top of it, that particular spot just happened to be without mulch.
They grew out of control over half the garden (way past the tarp) and I already harvested around 20 of them.
The hailstorm wreaked havoc on everything, thankfully I'm already at the end of harvesting period.

This is now:

5 meters away from the garden:

I also have some Butternut Squash

They'll go on the compost heap when I'm done harvesting. Some of the younger offshoots are still very intact and going strong, blooming etc. so if I'm lucky it will keep going for a while.

@Shocktrooper ahh cool. Using hay as mulch? That's a lot of squash! You don't consume them all I suppose? We had a lot of courgettes. Now I know they are very prolific i will plant less next season.

I gave many of them away, some will also be prepared and put in the freezer. I use cheap bark mulch from the supermarket, its based on conifer bark.

We also had too many courgettes, a big chunk went into the freezer for soup and some went to my wife's family. Same for other stuff that grew plenty.

This year was rather good for growing stuff, had a few weeks with sunny days and rainy days following each other up. It's only the past three weeks we had to do some additional watering.

I think our water barrel is 120L, we were thinking of doubling that capacity for next year.
Pretty sure we could support an even bigger capacity with how much rain our roof catches but our garden isn't that big.

Last year, I got over 100 courgettes from 4 plants, you'd keep plucking but the fuckers just kept on coming. I waited too long on some and they got huge, like almost a meter long. It was a Black Beauty cultivar. This year I used some of the remaining seeds and barely any courgettes grew so far, maybe 4 or 5. One plant died. It's either the seeds were too old or some sickness befell them. Everyone is kinda relieved they failed this year Laughing

You could have ended up with onsided gender of the flowers (am I even making sense saying it like that ).
We had to hand pollinate some to get it going.

I don't think so...they bloomed relatively late and by that time there were already shitloads of insects, bees etc. flying around to do the pollinating.
I don't know why the one died, I put it in the best spot and it gave me 2 fruits then it suddenly dried up and died.
The other two I put in slightly shadier spots (probably a mistake) and they slowly spit out fruit but at least one of them appears to have developed sickness, probably some fungus, and the last fruit it produced was small and mushy.
