I wonder why ppl buy iphones with fortnite installed. why not get a pc for that price instead and play the real deal or worst case scenario buy an android phone as a sidephone just to play that game.
can anyone explain? or do those 2nd hand iphones never sell?

pricier stuff is always "cooler", doesn't matter what it is. doesn't mean it's better but that is how it is.
also people who pay this kind of money for an iphone with fortnite preinstalled, are probably rich or doesn't care about money. rich people are also most likely already trapped in the iOS ecosystem, so of course they don't switch to android or windows.

hasn't anything to do with being brainwashed. im poor too, still it would be nice to have a note 20 ultra 5g (or the newest iphone if i would be an iOS user) for around 1500 euros. if you say you wouldn't buy it even if you would have the money, then you lie to yourself.

If you have the money to buy whatever you want, go ahead, but we're talking kids who get these things paid and bought for by their parents and who throw a tandrum, if they don't get it and the parents are too weak to say no.

It's called making someone emotionally hostage. My stepson does it with his mother and I hate that cunt.

My wife was always using iphone and mac. Then both her iphone and macbook pro broke down and I got her a Lenovo Yoga laptop and she bought second hand Samsung Galaxy S8+ really cheap and she was so happy with it. We got the laptop and Samsung Galaxy S8+ for 3/4 of a price for a new iphone.
And she said she is never going back to iphone or mac because its way too expensive.

These retards think everything's a monopoly now except for their god and savior Epic. Obviously you absolutely have to buy an iPhone and you have to use Steam.

I used to think Tim's self righteous martyr nonsense was just an act for good PR, but judging by those emails to Apple, he actually believes his own nonsense.

All MS weighed in on was the termination of the Unreal Engine licenses, everything else they kept out off. Still weird for them to support any of this since Consoles might be next on the Agenda of Timmy.

That's what I was just thinking. This is like demanding Sony and MS let other companies sell their software on their systems and have their own store. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm definitely down for that, crack wide open those consoles and let's get them hacked Laughing

I'm not sure who's in the right here (it might be Apple), but pragmatically speaking I think if Epic wins this particular fight it would be better for the gaming ecosystem as a whole.

It boils down to whether Apple is right to keep such a tight control on the devices they produce and prevent users from using other stores/apps than those Apple condones, even after the users have bought the device. I mean, if you own an iPhone, shouldn't you be allowed to use it however you want? Then again, you could argue that by buying an iPhone you agreed to certain terms of use and that includes the exclusive use of the Apple store. So I don't think it's really a clear-cut thing here.

I think a lot of us hate the fact that Apple is a closed ecosystem, compared to pc/Windows. But that's something you know when you buy into it.
Sweeney is quite insane if he thinks he can make Apple abandon this approach, after 50 or so years, by sending an e-mail Laughing

After thinking about it, the most likely outcome imo is that Epic loses in court, but the spillout could be a gradual shift in public opinion and some more public pressure on these closed-ecosystem devices. Not in the sense that "you're not allowed to make closed-ecosystem devices" but rather "I won't buy closed-ecosystem stuff when I could instead get a PC which is much more open".

Based on the Agreements Apple still has a right to terminate any and all Accounts with 30day notice for whatever reasons they want, wonder if thats blocked through this ruling as well?

It's already happening after Spotify filed a similar complaint last year.

Quote:

The European Commission has opened formal antitrust investigations to assess whether Apple's rules for app developers on the distribution of apps via the App Store violate EU competition rules. The investigations concern in particular the mandatory use of Apple's own proprietary in-app purchase system and restrictions on the ability of developers to inform iPhone and iPad users of alternative cheaper purchasing possibilities outside of apps.

The investigations concern the application of these rules to all apps, which compete with Apple's own apps and services in the European Economic Area (EEA). The investigations follow-up on separate complaints by Spotify and by an e-book/audiobook distributor on the impact of the App Store rules on competition in music streaming and e-books/audiobooks.

Yep, strictly legally they dont have any solid chances to win. And as I mentioned before, Epic's lawyers probably screamed Timmy's brain out about it yet he still pressed on. Either Timmy is personally hurt in fee-fees he is ready to go all out just to feel better or, which is more likely, winning that case isnt an actual goal (albeit being nice). In this case, though, I'm having hard time to understand what is the longplay. The best outcome Epic can expect is that Apple will finally allow adding external links/references to alternative way to pay on the website/home resource of the app (Floatplane guys complained about it, Apple forced them not just remove ANY possible references and text hints/info about alternative way to subscribe but made them sanitize their app so much it basically looked like dumb carbon copy of some generic IPhone app). But even if that is the case - Epic wont be able to enjoy these additions because Fortnite still will be banned (rightfully so). And even if their UE license and partnership will stay in tact as ordered by court - that part of their business model wont benefit form it since there are no Apple store payment involved.

Confused
