After reading a bit about it I found most of the bigger newer passenger planes like Boeing 747 can easily go over 10k km in one flight. And there was some variant that could fly 16k but was stopped from production after a while.

Isn't there fuel system in the game? Because I see that "Longest Flight: 10.39 Hours". Or is fuel removed in lower difficulties?

You never flew a transoceanic flight that is longer than 10 or 12 or even 14 hours? Laughing

Somehow, the flights I've been on have survived. With fuel! Laughing

FSEconomy

https://www.fseconomy.net/welcome

I finally installed and setup the thing (quite a pain to be honest but it worth it)
Seems like this will make me hooked for a while !

3 flights already and +5000$ in dah bank Very Happy
(around 100k $ to go in order to buy my very own C172 Laughing )

Not sure if you are willing to change or give another a try but I found OnAir
https://www.onair.company/
I like it a LOT better. app GUI is way better and the user experience and business/pilot progression I like a lot more.

Is this one really subscription based? As far as I can tell FSE seem to be free.

Too bad FSE has been closed for a week for new members at this point. They seem to approve new registrations by hand for some obtuse reason. And now everyone and their grans are trying to register. :/

Yea but its cheap. like $4 a month for 6 months.
24 bucks for me to get 1/2 a year out of it. Sure I will be bored of it by then.

Edit: Forgot to mention it has a 7 day trial for free.

Comparing the two with about 12 hours in each: FSE is miles behind the polish, GUI, presentation, game interaction with itself, and general enjoyment of use compared to OnAir.

FSE was too clunky to enjoy setting the jobs and flights up to me. And installing OnAir was just download run and done. Plus it has a built in tutorial when you start your company of how to use it. (Long as you start on the easy server, but you can have companys on all the servers at the same time).
just my personal taste and all. But OnAir feels like a proper addition to the game. FSE felt like webpage shoehorned into making it work with the game.

This is the "in flight" gui of the program while flying (on the right):

Will give that 7 days trial a...trial. I doubt I will pay for it though. I expect to be burned out in a month, so 9EUR being the lowest possible price to pay for the amount I expect to enjoy it...naah.

It does, there is some issues with weather events missing and opening/closing doors when no jetways are available though (workaround is to set it to auto for now).

Next 1.6 update will have a option to manage doors the MSFS way, until MSFS will finally allow us to open/close doors properly.

The experience is pretty good. It's definitely resource intensive, I've been able to drag along my 8 year old PC so far but it really brings it to its knees and I'm considering an upgrade.

So far I really like the Bush Trips, I'm midway the one from Croatia to Santorini and the landscape really brings back memories from previous trips and it seems that its the best I'd get for the next year considering the current state of world travel. Navigation has been challenging the first few missions but afterwards you can pretty much wing it without thinking too much.

I think there's a huge amount of potential to this game with the addons you guys shared before, missions, training courses, I truly think they can build a huge ecosystem around it and along with it a lot of fans will upgrade their PCs.

Wasn't disappointed!

Not that hard.

- Download FSUIPC 7 Beta from https://forum.simflight.com/topic/90193-fsuipc7-beta-for-msfs/
- Extract it into a folder of your liking
- Start FSUIPC.exe (it will automatically close itself when you close the simulator)
- Start SLC
- Start MSFS2020
(start order here doesn't really matter)

Be aware of the airliner door issue. To enable the doors to open for boarding/deboarding, MSFS currently requires that you be connected to a jetway - you cannot currently open the doors on aircraft at will.
To do this, you must first tune ATC to "Ground Services" and "Request Connection To Jetway".

Download and run. That's literally it for install.
You have to pick your FS in the OnAir Options, but that's just a checkbox to tell it which you run.
Understanding it is a different story...lol.
The GUI is very well laid out and polished I think. So its not that its clunky, its that its really in depth and lots of options and complexity for what it adds to the game.

But it's not too hard to do. I am managing to turn a smaaaalll profit without ever reading the PDF manual and I went straight to the 'hard mode survival' server right out the gate. Figured worst that can happen is I learn realllllly fast how NOT to play if it didn't work out. Laughing

Nice performance increase.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

For me, I wouldn't say I am a flight sim fanatic, just like Im not a racing sim fanatic. I'd never own a dedicated racing chair setup or a flight sim cockpit even if I could afford it.
Fan but not fanatic? Is that the right way to convey it?
Its the closet I can get to owning a Cessna or other prop plane and taking it out for a fly around. As I said before if I had the money and time, I'd own one to just go cruising around in every month or so (or the idea of that at least..I know in a year or two it would just collect dust in a hanger somewhere).
Same as I'd never want to go full racing career or actually race with race official rules in real life, but I LOVE rfactor/i-racing/pc2 with friends and would love to go to a 'track day' just once if I had a car that wouldn't blow up in the first lap.

For me at least it is like racing. Something I am mildly interested in in real life, but without all the hassle of prepping to do it, scheduled time and days to do inspections and maintenance, investment of time and money spent to go do it, dedicating whole days to it and having to commit a 'lifestyle' thing to it.
Or like Golf. I cannot stand playing golf in real life, but oddly I keep buying the PGA games to play with friends and love it for the same reason: because its all the 'fun' parts. Golf without all the walking, and prepping, and finding your ball, and going to a place to do it cut out.

Or like my wife, shes is NOT into computer games at all..or computers. But saw me playing it and wants to try it. First game in 25 years shes asked me about showing interest in it wanting to know if its like flying a real plane and wants to try it.

Fair enough, I completely understand that.

Personally I've always wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter... could NEVER EVER afford even the course (and I'd have to go take math courses before I could even start flight school)... then renting a little 2-seater with all that entails (fuel, maintenance fee's etc.) would be even more ridiculous. However, unless VR becomes 10x better than current tech (where you hear, feel and see everything including vibration from the engine, 360 degree view X and Y, tactile feedback from controls in a complete helicopter simulation setup that would ALSO cost a fortune to set up at home) and affordable and they create a hyper-realistic helicopter simulator, I don't really feel an urge to play something like that on my 6-core, 1060OC 6GB, 1080P, 16GB DDR4 system.

I've sat in a flight sim ONCE (the first time I studied computer systems for 2 years in the early 90'ies) since the school I was living at was close to an air force base where they had an old Saab 37 Viggen ("Thunderbolt") simulator. We didn't get to fly ourselves, we sat in the simulator and some guy at the control board did a short flight run for each of us (there were 8-10 of us). Not particularly impressive since the simulator was from the early 80'ies, and the damn cockpit (repurposed cockpit from an old Viggen) was cramped like hell and the graphics was very basic (basically filled vector graphics, no texturing etc.) although fast and had surround screens. I'd like to test a modern military simulator for the F-35 Lightning II with the state of the art sim hardware. That would be a dream.

speaking of not understanding - i have to say i don't really understand all the extraneous requirements you add to this.

helicopters in VR are already in a great place.. why do you need a full home theatre and every system imaginable simulated to enjoy it?
i play with force feedback joysticks (i don't have a real collective) and pedals etc but they are hardly a requirement for me to enjoy flying in VR.. it just sounds to me you aren't interested in it in the first place, or have some rather idealistic view of what piloting a real aircraft is like.

that said, most of my time in helicopters is doing military things so i don't really spend much time looking out of windows at scenery so much as i am watching for threats and managing systems.

10x current VR tech? it would be good at 0.25x and i'm just on the ancient vive. Laughing
