After about 9 month or a year or so of random headaches, and 'foggy' headed where I feel slightly dulled and harder to concentrate randomly for 1/2 an hour or so at a time. Went to the doc.
And now on meds for high blood pressure. It was REALLY high, 184/113.

Growing old sucks, Heredity sucks, being a lazy sedentary person sucks...well I guess I CAN change one of those things...but the other 2 still suck.

Sorry to hear that!

Have you been tested for blood clotting? How are your cholesterol levels?

Your doctor probably told you that, but doing regular exercise is a very good way to strengthen your cardiovascular system, and your blood pressure will go down with time.

Buy a blood pressure monitor and keep a daily record of morning, mid-day and evening, and present the data table to your doctor. Medication for high blood pressure is not without worries, so you need to keep track and see if the medication is working, if your blood pressure doesn't drop too low, etc. Whenever you don't feel well with related symptoms (head pressure, lightheaded, vertigo, etc.), measure your blood pressure and also log it into the data table.

They took 4 vials of my blood to test all that today. Worried about diabetes too. Father had it horribly bad.

I got a bloods pressure monitor, but don't trust it..two tests in a row gave 145/101 and 165/99. Was a middle of the road drugs store one, need a better one. Head pressure and lightheaded/fuzzy is why I finally went. So hard to tell if the meds or just the ongoing ones i had until meds slowly start settling in are the cause Razz

But can say I wasn't surprised. Disappointed but not surprised. Last 10 or so years of my life have been 12+ hours a day sitting at PC for work and hobby.
I need to get out and be more active. Get around to doing more in the garage shop than I have been...maybe every weekend or something...and actually USING the $400 bike I bought 2 years ago I have rode 4 times.

That’s my life too. I too had high blood pressure (but not high enough for medication). When the pandemic hit, I bought a indoor cycling machine, and started walking long distances. My bp is now 122/77, pulse won’t down from 80-90 to 60-75, lost 30kg (66lb), and cholesterol went down. I also ran tables and the measurements going down, slowly but steady, was encouraging. You can always spare 39 mins for cycling, or 1-2 hrs for a brisk walk.

It's Trumpys fault. Don't worry with Biden you won't have HBP anymore Laughing

Joking aside, my father had same thing. Turns out he is hypoglycemic plus he spends quite few hours per day on his toy we bought him a year ago (Samsung S9). As soon as he "fixed" those issues, he was feeling much better. No more headaches, flashes, HBP etc. I'm not saying is a all around cure but maybe it's something similar.

No idea if you spend many hours on your mobile but lay off as much as possible if you do. Your eyes focus on the little screen and that causes some issues.

@LeoNatan
Yea more exercise is something I definitely need more of. I'm about 30 lbs over 'ideal' weight sure that isn't helping any. And Im sure my diet of "Whatever I feel like" is not great...LOL.

@raven_g20
I dont use my phone for anything but calls. Cant see the point in using it for anything else. I MAYBE look at it 15 minutes a day tops? Some days not at all. I got a full keyboard and 34" ultrawide. Why would I want to look at a 4" screen with a tiny fake keyboard on it?

Hopefully the meds help so far cant see much difference so far in BP levels, but only been 2 days since I started on them. Right now head still hurts right in the middle of the top of my head, and a base of skull headache; and fuzzy/foggy headed for the last hour or so.

When i was fat it was 150/100. After working out and living more healthily it sunk massively. This is probably the cause for most people who have high bp i bet.

@Stormwolf
But is a lifestyle that is not over indulgently hedonistic worth living? Laughing

Don't have to give up anything, but if you know it to be an issue you should limit it. I had a "eat half of everything" principle when i was losing weight at least. Now i can eat half of that again and be content. Trying to eat as much as i could before is folly. So there is hope for you too Laughing

A good balance between eating and exercising will help a lot. Don't forget the body is just like a machine. You got to take care of it or it will get worse faster than normal. No need to be drastic on cutting food you like. Just don't overdo it Smile

Go for a walk 3-5 times a week for at least 45 min. If you are too bored to exercise more extensively, that'll do wonders. What I did myself for many reasons. This actually fed my appetite for more and started training even more until it became a part of my life...and of course, will help regulate your blood pressure.

Also bear in mind that medication for blood pressure usually have size effects. Most common is the swelling of the foot. My folks both have Shrek feet Laughing

Whatever you do, do it fast because the longer time passes the more problems it might cause. All the best man.

Lay off the emoticons?, they weigh you down, and just add to stress and fatigue, whilst also increasing your post count.
