The CW's wayward sons will carry on no more: Supernatural is ending after Season 15, stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins announced on social media Friday. Warner Bros. Television and The CW confirmed the news shortly after.
Executive producers Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer released a statement following the stars' announcement: “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We'd like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”
Supernatural will go out with 20 episodes, and is the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American broadcast television. According to The CW, Supernatural will have aired a total of 327 episodes when Season 15 comes to a close.
Supernatural has been around for so long that it actually predates The CW itself - the show launched on The WB network in 2005, and is the only surviving show from that era.
Love the show and should have ended long ago. What a ride.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
10 seasons overdue.
Should have ended with season 5.
Nope.

Spoiler:
all main characters at least died once and got ressurected not to mention side characters as well. Almost all of the main characters got possessed by something evil and had to fight their way out of it. So yeah where is the fucking excitement if there are no stakes and plots just get recycled anyhow. e.g.:Oh wait jack lost his soul? Did totally not happen before with sam. Oh all the overpowered/most powerful beings got beaten? how exciting. How would the next season up the stakes( they are doing this all along so thats why there is nothing left to fight) Please tell me more. Oh yeah they could eventually take the most powerful monsters on earth(wait already happened) what about parallel universes?(happened) What about godlike beings(oh wait already happened) etc etc
Dunno how you want more. They need to burry this series.
They had a blank card for the show for years. they're leaving on their own accord. Am happy for that.
Hopefully they'll pursue other avenues. kripke has been done with supernatural for a while though. So yay. I've stopped watching for a few eps and didn't miss it. Don't even remember where I left of. Better be a good finale.
Thing is,the Hamill-Effect will haunt them most likely and they won´t get as much praise for their new thing as they did as "Team Winchester & friends, foes, pets and multisexoids"

Well, I'm about to watch the final episode of this, the second to last season. I hate this time of year since nearly all the shows I follow are closing their seasons. Why can't they work 24/7 to provide me with 24/7 entertainment, lazy hollywood bastardos.

I think the final episode was simply pure fan service. The last minutes the guys are thanking the fans who supported them over the years. If it hadn't been for the super-fans they would have ended the series a long time ago. The second to last episode would've been a much better finale though. Everything was accomplished...

God turned into a lowly mortal, it was just poetic justice at it's finest
Still, I've enjoyed the show even after it's first 6-7 seasons when it was somewhat fresh and interesting (with some goofy and silly episodes sparsely sprinkled here and there including the silly animated episode which sucked). But I'm content with that it's over now. We know Jensen is going to The Boys. I have no idea what Jared will do from now on though and I'm not particularly interested either.
