yeah, dissection is great. When storm of the light's bane came out it was one of the best bm albums ever besides Satyricon's Shadowthrone. I haven's listen to their new stuff yet but i'll queue it on emule now.
Someone here knows Dornenreich? They are imho one of the very few bands who seem capable to musically express emotions in the utmost intelligent way possible. It's definately not pure bm and their music is very ... weird. I don't know how to put it but i think there's no group out there with deeper meanings in lyrics. To my knowledge unfortunately there seems to be no online translation avaible; the lyrics are all in poetic german.
Don't hesitate to give Dornenreich a chance.
"Bitter ist's, dem Tod zu dienen"
try:
Wundenküssen
Reime faucht der Märchensarg
Nun, so soll es denn sein!
Reiche mir Schwert und Wein,
reiche mir Panzer und Gebein!
Zerschmettern will ich mit Hass!
Ich, das schwarze Nass!!!

ok, i tried to translate "Wundenküssen" - It's far from perfect, but if you're interested- Though i think much gets lost in the translation...
*here you go:
Without regards I captured ALL wounds,
left no sorrow behind for all humunculos - Weep!
All the sweet pain from outside there in here,
I don't want to miss the comfort, forever never - No!
Though wounds become scars,
and scars remain ugly,
the comfort is fugacious sensation,
the scars visibly whiling dreadful,
and even the scar that doesn't weep red,
it finds my gaze,
I speak true,
to break your trick of fate
[Winzárten:]
"Ja, ja ich kenne Dich - "der Trost ist nicht von Dauer"
und ja, ich kenne mich - Du harrst vergebens Lauer."
Yes, yes i do know you - "this comfort is not everlasting"
and yes, i know you - you vainly hold out couching"
[Kargáist:]
"Beharrlich bist Du, stur, noch mehr als gedacht,
doch sieh' - Gefühle greifen leer,
nur Augen wägen letztlich schwer."
You are insistent, stolid, far more then expected,
but look - Emotions are grabbing in vain,
but eyes finally weighty.
[Winzárten:]
"Wie die Wunde mir bald Trost,
wird die Narbe später Dein Wohl sein,
da häßlich Du mich schimpfst,
Deine Haltung bringt mir Wunden ein."
As the wound will soon bring me comfort,
the scar will later be your good,
since you rail me ugly,
your attitude's inflicting wounds on me.
[Winzárten:]
"Süße Wunden, süßer Trostm innersüßer Wundenkuß."
Sweet wounds, sweet comfort ,innsersweet kiss of wounds
[Kargáist:]
"Häßlich, gräßlich, schäme Dich !"
Ugly, dreadful, be ashamed of yourself!
Nun, so soll es denn sein!
Reiche mir Schwert und Wein,
reiche mir Panzer und Gebein!
Zerschmettern will ich mit Hass!
Ich, das schwarze Nass!!!

I dunno why some ppl are like that.
Its weird. I grew up, like when I was young, on soca and softer, classical reggae - not the new dancehall stuff, like gangsta reggae shit. All the cousins i chilled with were from my dads side right. It wasnt till i got a lil older i got into the rock from the white side of my family
Anyway, whether its say Spragga benz (hard to understand if u dont understand the dilect) or Cradle of Filth or Cannibal Corpse, I can understand most types of music.
I dont know why some ppl cant.
Like some ppl cant understand White Zombie lyrics. The only song I actually had to read the lyrics for was Supercharger heaven and only for the 2nd verse i think.
However, u know like american idol type shit, pop, the accents and the 'expression' they use sometimes is so retarded and i cant understand the lyrics. Like Jessica Simpson, as far as Im concerned, she fuckin mumbles. Everyone I know says the same thing. When she is singing live, she mumbles and u cant understand what the fuck she is saying...but then Dani Filth or Buju Banton can come on stage and be understood, even if u dont have an ear for the music....I hate pop

Hell yeah.
And todays black metal scene isn't a joke. Look at all new religious black metal (chaos gnostic, orthodox satanic etc) that's coming out these days... Craft, Arckanum, Watain, Malign, Disiplin, Funeral Mist...
Cradle of filth... Hmm, gay shit, but then again I never liked the heavy synth gothic metal bullshit (ever since Emperor fucked up with their 2nd gay synth album I've hated that crap .
My fav. stuff is more guitar based. I suppose (with few exceptions). Currently the most played black metal would probably be Darkthrone, Craft, Ulver, Silencer, Arckanum, Immortal, Horna, Azaghal and Beherit.
Fun fact: I know a guy who recieved a death threath (written in home made runes) from Dani Filth for writing a negative review in one of the more influental mags at the time.

Well, most of those bands are full out neo nazis, and the satanic part is mainly anti judeo-christianity... And we all know what nazis think about God's chosen people. |
i say we crush them one by one untill there is no one left of those assholes. back to darkthrone...see yes! and fuck yeah tell me when ther is a neo naxi shit band around and i will help booting there small neo arian fuckihg assas out of here. |
exactly.
U have your white supremicist music and u have your metal. Black metal, goth, metal fans in general dont tolerate racism or predjuice at all. Least in my experience.
In regards to the anti-christian stuff, obviously its about that and I applaud it. The public is force fed shit that is to unrealistic to believe, on a daily basis. Its nice to hear/see artistic expression that covers the flip side of the 'norm'...

Neo nazi views among black metal fans are pretty common. Especially if you look in the more "underground" segment of the scene. Sure, dimmu borgir fans migh not be fascists, but a lot of the bands they listen to are (Marduk used to do the whole heil hitler thing live back in the days for example).

agreed and that whats differs true balck metal to the fucking tossers that been around since the 90´s. but its easy to spot them. the bands that sounds the worst is usualy the bands that fucking raise their siegh heil fists. lets smash them.
i have never been to trouble when i go to metal shows. but then on the other hand the nazis knows their place and its fucking hard to spot them.
to make a point clear; the scandi bands that doesnt play into this fools game fucking more plenty than the assholes that do. kill them. and fuck yeah long live black metal you racist fucks.

Ive fought a few "nazi's"....I dont think they are actually racist. Rather, lost and confused kids u need an outlet for their anger so they target everyone who is different. Easy cop out in my view.
Never had any serious trouble while at a metal concert.
Only concert that i had to fight because of race was the hatebreed concert. a group of aryan nation guys showed up and they didnt like me and a few of my boys. We kicked their asses good tho So did alot of the other people there, in the mosh pit and shit.

I listen to all types of music, but basicly, Metal is my main genre, I like all kinds of metal, but I'm more into Power Metal, Heavy Metal, and Death Metal.
I really hate when people start saying that I'm listening to satanic music, I mean, they can't even understand the music, and they label the music as "satanic" only because the fast guitars and the screaming vocalist.
people are such ignorant and stupid. everything they listen on the radio is "the normal music", everything they don't know is music for "people who want to be different"
I really hate when people say that comercial music is the real music, and the underground and uncomercial music is shit.

I don't think of my self as a black metal fan. I like some songs and even some bands. Generally, I'm more or less fond of melodic death than black metal. For someone not listening to metal music and shit thinks is more or less the same. However, its different. I like COF and Crematory but not the way I like Children of Bodom and Tristania.
