Nice Smile

played some Spiritfarer. Wasn't really my thing so i refunded. I'm super picky though, almost nothing keeps my interest for more than an hour these days.

Oh, a pity. Sad

I too rarely get get to play some game for more than few hours but this loved Spiritfarer so much I finished it in only 1 week. Smile

Steam just showed me this one - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1019310/VirtuaVerse/
But no idea if it's good or what's it more about other than "cyberpunk point and click adventure".

I'm looking for quite a specific type of adventure, read the first post. I have no doubt these recommendations are great if you're just into adventure games.

E.g does Longest Journey really have NPC's with schedules / goals?

I might play some of these anyways though, but its gonna be quite off topic and a lot of long lists if you're just gonna drop great adventure games here Smile

Maybe I should have named the topic to something more specific since many doesn't read the post it seems.

If you end up playing The Longest Journey make sure to grab the HD mod. https://tljhd.github.io/

Very nice. This game was awesome. The sequels not so much.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

It's really unfortunate how Ragnar Tornquist's ideas and concepts for the adventure genre got noticeably worse with time*. From TLJ which was (and still is) a masterpiece to the good-ish Dreamfall to the barely acceptable and very uneven Chapters to...his future Dustborn project that looks like it's going to be a complete embarrassment.

Sadly the case everywhere you look. All that imagination they used to have has suddenly up and vanished into thin air.

Call of the Sea comes out today. You might want to check that out. I think it is already available on the game pass.

I've got to say thanks for this thread, both VirtuaVerse and Call of the Sea seem like good games.

This is what I bought that 34" Monitor for. Everything Went Better Than Expected

Personally, I can't get into any of these point-and-click games. All that pixel hunting and going back and forth after every new item you get in the inventory just to find what kind of ridiculous item use and combinations the devs made.

Still, sometimes I get excited to try some game but get frustrated after an hour or two. And I tried almost all of the so loved classics- Beneath a Steel Sky, Monkey Island, Leasure Suit Larry , Brokern Sword, Day of the Tentacle, Machinarium etc. Only ones I played more were Full Throttle and Grim Fandango but in those there were some game breaking bugs where I couldn't progress...

Oh wait, I finished Syberia 1 and 2 and loved those. Stayed out of 3 because every was saying it's so bad... Now it seems like new sequel is coming up next year - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1410640/Syberia_The_World_Before/

Ah, and the first three Black Mirror games were great. Also haven't played the fourth for the same reason as Syberia.

PS: The guys who made that last Black Mirror games seem for have some good looking games:

The Raven - https://store.steampowered.com/app/736810/The_Raven_Remastered/?curator_clanid=35895276

Book of Unwritten Tales - https://store.steampowered.com/app/221830/The_Book_of_Unwritten_Tales_The_Critter_Chronicles/?curator_clanid=35895276

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 - https://store.steampowered.com/app/279940/The_Book_of_Unwritten_Tales_2/?curator_clanid=35895276

Well yeah. Sometimes the combinations are so bizzare that it would be quite hard to figure it out on your own unless you tried everything for hours on end.

Try Unavowed from Wadjet Eye. Their biggest and most ambitious game till date.

Yup, I appreciated the attempt to introduce a lite C&C system and give the complete spotlight to its characters, though I wish it had more consistency story-wise and more interactivity overall. Those who can't quite digest the classic formula will likely have a better time with it since puzzles are rather straightforward and there's little backtracking involved. I personally prefer their previous titles, but still enjoyed the charming paranormal trip Razz
