At least all this has helped bringing the hype train to a full stop for me.
Gives me time to finish Valhalla and Fenyx Rising before my Ubi+ month runs out
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
PCGaymer gave it 78/100. This is what is said in their review:
Quote:
We received a 50GB patch during our review period. CDPR referred to this patch as the Day 0 patch. When asked for clarification whether the patch will be what players were receiving at launch, a CDPR representative told us that the Day 0 patch is what people will be experiencing on launch day. It is the Day 1 patch, only different in name. More fixes will be rolled into the Day 0 (Day 1) patch, but we cannot specify exactly what.
Earlier someone posted that the Day 0 and Day 1 patch were different according to CDPR, but this implies it will most likely be the exact same thing.

Reports of vehicles falling from the sky - initially believed to be a hoax - are now confirmed after a local orphan shelter was crushed by a falling Arasaka armoured vehicle. Eyewitnesses claim an individual dressed like a space-clown-pimp was waiting at the scene and quickly escaped in the vehicle. It is believed these incidents are linked to recent tornado sightings in the Badlands.

Less graphical glitches (though never 100% perfect, like all these games)
General bug fixes for quests, world, characters, systems
Balancing
and
Melee combat improved
UI improvements
DLC
...more?
They've posted their plans and it looks like its going in the way of GTA 5 or RDR2
So expect Cyberpunk 2077 Online released in 2021-2022 that becomes their cash cow for 10 years with microtransactions/battle passes. Cars check, guns check, user created challenges 2021 with dlc tests. Probably more DLC's focused on world building and mechanics since CDPR is not as shitty as Rockstar.
REDengine 4-5 looks like to be in a good place to start rolling out to public in the next few years to compete with Epic. Its a few steps to user generated content from there.
Cant blame them, online mode is the biggest revenue generator for Rockstar.

Right, i had totally supressed the online crap.. it's too bad the world if full of derps and that you can make money of them. But yes, i expect them to be better than R* at least, it's a company i refuse to support any longer.
Well at least the MP team will be separate from the DLC team, meaning we'll have single player expansions too. Unlike GTA V and RDR 2 that R* dropped like a dead baby after release to focus on the multiplayer side.
After all. What are we without our edginess and cynicism?
I wanted to wait for release day but since it's pretty evident at this point that the current official date is merely a placeholder for gullible folks, we might as well preorder the tag

On a more serious note, I wonder - what should they have done?
Let's have a look at Dying Light 2. We had total radio silence about that game for over a year except the drama surrounding it.
And arguably, as of E3 2019 I was more hyped for DL2 than Cyberpunk as the presentation was phenomenal. But right now I sometimes forget that that game is still in the works, meanwhile I'm all giddy to get my hands on CP2077. I think it's because they were drip feeding us info, showing off the world and generally maintaining interest and reiterating what the game is gonna be. Meanwhile I don't know what is the state of DL2 after they kicked out Avellone? Is his work scrapped? Is it dumbed down? No one knows. Meanwhile CDPR have been rather straightforward with what they promise to deliver and it seems we'll get that, even if a bit buggy.
VTM:B2 is another one, which is probably completely FUBAR and I lost all hope for that game.
It's a double edged sword. Would keeping the game under wraps be a better solution? I don't know. It's a business at the end of the day with every month of development costing a shitload of money. It's cynical but I'm guessing CDPR thought that releasing it now, even if a bit buggy, captializing on the pandemic, new consoles, hype, etc. is better than holding fire, bleeding more money and allowing for more rumors to swirl. People have been losing their mind over the smallest bits of news.
How would it looked like if they came out and said that "Covid has hampered our production process so severely that we need to postpone the game by a year to April 2021"? "Oh, it's just an excuse, they can't pull it off, they need to rework the whole thing, they're rolling back on their promises". Etc. People have already been nagging that it's been developed for "8 years", conveniently forgetting a huge game + 2 full game sized expansions along the way. Like it fucking matters how long a game has been developed. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a futuristic, first-person open-world roleplaying game, based on a tabletop RPG that first came out in 1988. Itās about a mercenary named V who, unlike the strong personality of The Witcherās Geralt, is more of a canvas for the player to paint. Your appearance can be customized with a range of skin colors, hairstyles, and features. Rather than picking between āmaleā and āfemale,ā you choose a traditionally male or female body type and choose between two penis types or one vagina. The pronoun characters use for you is either āheā or āsheā based on your voice. While thereās more flexibility to this than weāve seen in other games, tying binary pronouns to voice feels simplistic and retrograde. My V has a vagina and goes by āhe,ā but the game doesnāt seem to acknowledge that heās a trans man; characters occasionally make reference to his dick or balls, though this could just as easily be metaphorical. In some scenes with hireable sex workers of different genders, I appeared to penetrate themācertainly possible, but with no indication that my character doesnāt have a biological dick.
Don't hype broken early stage. Do not hype hopelessly optimistic release dates. Don't delay just for a month, several times, when it is fully known internally how broken the product still is. Do not release until in somewhat of a manageable state.
Look at Rockstar. They don't announce anything, just work on a project for years, then release 2 trailers, where the game is almost ready, and release. They did it with GTA4, RDR, GTA5 and RDR2. Sure, there are some bugs, but come on.
