Just installed the Vdemo out of pure curiosity to check the performance on my old rig, it's far from being decent of course but not as completely unplayable as I feared. The poor 970 is being absolutely chastised (much more than the oc'd 2500k - that ancient bastard still got it), though at least it doesn't stutter. I get 30-40fps on Medium, could potentially brute-force it to 40-50 by lowering the various shadow settings a bit more to potato settings.
Now as for properly playing it, I think I'll wait as well. I'll have a far better system and the game will get the necessary QA from all the folks live testing it. From the little I've played it's essentially everything that I realistically expected it to be with its pros and cons, but the damn boner won't go away so that's a good sign.
So you are going to lift the Beta from the thread title?
Yeah I figured. Now that I think about it I have never been chased in a car at all outside of scripted missions. And in those scripted missions I never get to drive either. I guess the AI isn't up to it
That's because there isn't any driving AI, at all. Every car is set to a standard pre-determined path with only a couple variables like, oh there's a thing there stop.
You can park your car in the road and NPCs completely shut down and you cause a traffic jam. No one cares. There's no reactions to anything. You can pull your gun out and point it at them, they don't care. They don't get mad and shout, they MIGHT honk, I only heard it once. They won't get pissed and turn around or try to get around you somehow. It just stops.
Cops don't chase you because there's simply no driving AI.
There's a place on the map, I forget where and it's universal where they fucked up the pathing of the cars and literally drives right through a bridge support like it's fucking platform 9 3/4 to get to hogwarts. No collision or anything. The support simply doesn't exist to them lol.
It seems some people struggle to understand the difference between an rpg and a driving game. If you have already finished this you did not play it like an rpg.

There's nothing about this that is an RPG. Period. Even CDP took away it's RPG classification and replaced it with action adventure.
Well reading the cyberpunk sub for a bit has been entertaining to say the least, i really wonder why there is so much disparity between reviews and actual player experience of this game i mean what the fuck is going on?
It definitely reinforced my intention to play this in a year or 2 that's the least amount of time they would need to fix this it's far worse then any of their other games at release.

No one expects a driving game. I mean the driving is shit, at least on keyboard and mouse, but the problem is that since they've made this sprawling city with roads and cars and what not, then it seems dumb to not at least make the AI be able to drive and react appropriately to the player.
It breaks immersion. Instead of being immersed in a living breathing city, you always feel like it's just a fancy interface for getting to and doing missions, which is what it is but it's the devs job to obfuscate that.
They built this beautiful sprawling city, but they ruined it because they couldn't implement something that GTA 3 had.
As far as traffic is concerned, it seems that Nightcity has the most chill and pacifist citizens, not getting scared or mad if you ram their cars or shoot at it. Too meek to even switch lanes and pass your car when it's parked there blocking up traffic.

It means people with problems are airing their grievances, while people who have bug free experience are happily playing the game. So obviously the negative opinions are louder than those who have nothing to say but enjoy the game.
Speaking of which, I woke up, had my breakfast. Time to boot up the game.

Probably because half of the npcs and people on billboards are youtubers and streamers? The purist hobo that preach at the entrance to the ripperdoc is some streamer, the ad with the girl fixing her face with a screwdriver is another. The ex gamespot reviewer Alanah Pearce got a chair and was modelled in game. Yeah she didn't review the game alas only hyped it for a year.
YongYea was just glad to suck a dick of a cleaner who works at CDPR HQ.
So yeah. I just don't know how this game has so stellar opinion.

Apparently, “it’s an RPG” is the ultimate excuse these days for shit games. Bugs galore? It’s a true RPG, what did you expect? Unoptimized? It’s a true PC RPG, of course it has high system requirements. AI is non-existent? This is an RPG, nit a driving game.

1) Money
2) CDP didn't allow for reviews for console version, so no one knew just how badly it was running. They knew how bad it was and hid it.
3) Reviewers rushed the main story to get their reviews out so they aren't gunna really experience the game as a whole.
4) Big reviewers typically have better hardware and aren't playing on some gimped out system. So it didn't show how bullshit the system requirements are. The recommended specs are absolutely bullshit for how badly the game runs.

Does codex don't do updates anymore. From the lastest games they don't do the updates.
probably better of getting the dinobytes release since that's the GOG version and they've already released the new update.
Please tell me when in the story (or where on the map) do you hear Silverhand say
"Ha. House is raking it in. Wonder what the boss has to say about it".
It seems the script might have broken for me and this line plays every time I fast travel or load a save. Sometimes it works just fine though! I wonder if I might have moved from a scene too early or something and the game doesn't know what to do.
The worst part is, the subtitle gets stuck and doesn't disappear.
It's the "Gig: Playing for Keeps" mission, somewhere around here:
Spoiler:
You probably need to speak to the bartender to get rid of it.
Crafting is pretty fucked atm, you get the same amount of components from breaking down a health consumable worth 10 eddies as you do a weapon worth a 1000 - only the rarity of the item you're breaking down matters and nothing else.
This also enables net positive crafting loops, you can basically get infinite xp and eddies if you're so inclined.
Man reading about his game is a blast. Its not often you see an entertainment product get such a reaction from people. People writing essays about how their lives are now ruined because they can't play the game on 8k ultra with their 2070S, how there not enough sex in the game, how there's too much sex in the game, why the game didn't cure cancer like it promised etc. The "CDPR is a transphobic company" on restera was just an eyeopener to read.
I'm now 25 hours in and i'm having a fucking blast. The game is basically the Witcher 3 in certain regards. Its an RPG lite to some extent, the combat is ok (although when stealth, hacking and shooting come together it can be quite fun), the controls are a bit wonky, its a bit broken at parts but omg is the sum greater than its parts again. I'm biased (like everyone) because im a sucker for story and the world and boy does it have a lot.
Based on the doom and gloom of the launch im quite happy with my 4790k and 2060 performance (it dips to 40ish when there's a lot on screen), but i'll survive and thankfully my play has been relatively bug-free (but even then if its not big it doesn't bother me, i played Wasteland 3 at launch and that was much much worse).

OMG! Thank you so much! That was indeed it! Coincidentally it also bugged out, since I previously completed the mission, even before you meet Silverhand:
Spoiler:
I actually sneaked in and just stole it, without talking to the barman. When I entered and talked to him though, he went to the storing area and got me ANOTHER Jacob Lamb's eye So I guess poor Jacob is blind now, or one-eyed I guess since I recovered his one eye previously
Well, game broke literally in the first mission after the tutorial. I wanted to do it stealthy and didn't know Jackie helps you if you wait with him. So I just optic hacked and stealth choked everyone just to realize the mission can't progress because your partner is still crouch waiting under the sink like a moron while I already took down everyone...
I will probably never get to finish this game. Both because of such bugs and because I am trying to climb every single ledge or wall and look around every corner. Most times there is nothing but at least I found a level 20 sniper in some container you can get to from an elevator near the first Ripperdoc who does your first implants. Doubt they can fix even half of the bugs in the next year. So many visual ones like NPC's glitching and bodies exploding after you put them down.
