Finally decided to continue playing, doing "The Heist" and the one after, basically the actual beginning of the game.

It's absolutely awesome.

Let me be clearer here.

The Story missions, or more precisely anything scripted, is amazing.

Anything that involves AI or Open World, is meh or just bad.

This game would be 100/100 if it wasn't for all that Open World and no AI crap.

What's wrong with making "More or less" linear, story-driven games these days? Why does everything have to be open-world/sandbox?

100% yes, the semi linear approach of the first two Witcher games is better than 200 hours of filler meaningless minigame openworld shit. A high bar to attempt to match a GTA style game (I find boring as fuck personally) and add a spectacular linear narrative to appease RPG gamers, they're targetting two very different audiences. Rockstar have 15-20+ something years making the same game over and over again with a polished built for purpose engine, I applaud them for being ballsy enough to try it but no suprise the oP3NWoRlD part of the game is bad.

I think the side content is okish. Witcher 3's was way worse. Probably cause the combat makes more sense in this game. It's an ok shooter while witcher3 was a poor slasher.
And there is no bullshit to collect, just encounters.

Ehh, they're just making games based on the trends of the market. People seem to love open world and then they make open world too. Its sad though as open world will never deliver a solid story with the caliber a linear/semi open world can

They have been pretty focused on open world from the start, though the second Witcher game was more linear (never played it due to that). I personally really dislike linear parts, the ones in Witcher 3 were god awful, where you play as Ciri, my least favorite parts of the game by far.

I much rather have something simplistic but open world and i can chose my path, what to do + some fun randomness that might happen than something linear but with better story and more things going on, but plays out the same for everyone. its just boring, i'll rather watch a movie or read a comic/book, better mediums for it imo..

After all these years, my favorite CDPR game continues to be The Witcher 1. I think from a design choice it was perfect. You had linear progression through relatively big areas. You had a main quest line that wasn't level-locked, and you had the freedom to adapt the character to the play style you liked. You had multiple options to reach a certain goal, etc. They tweaked this concept for the next two games, with TW2 being the railroaded one and TW3 being the expanded one (but limiting in certain aspects at the same time).

Playing CP2077 so far, it seems they didn't know exactly what they were doing. I'm enjoying the game more than I expected, but it has the marks of troubled development, bugs and technical issues aside.

Some hilarious bugs though:

Not sure there will be much jerking this time. Hatetrain has gotten traction. I won't even touch this game for quite a while.

Even just pull out your pistol and look at the way V holds it. Dumpster fire. My shotgun also clips through my shoulder. Probably has something to do with it.

lmao

Everytime my character interacts with the mirror, he is bald.

After 13 hours playing on hard - tech revolver is the king, the god, it's basically cheating. Ping and mark everyone, that shit shoots through walls.

In a mission with a car that you have to plant a bug I wanted to hide a body in a container but instead it was shot in to space and everyone in the location was instantly alerted to the body. Laughing

Still the city is dead, it's just going from point a to point b killing gangers. Even the gangers are boring as shit. The animals as I presumed in original CP were jacked up furries, here are just steroid junkies - meh.
I was counting on some random events, cop chaces - we know it's not happening or Trauma actions. Sad

They haven't mastered it yet like Rockstar did. Even though my favorite is W3, Rockstar has more consistency GTA 4 and 5, RDR2.

Yeah true but it might be because of all the advert deals they had.

I think the game is extremely detailed, I don't mean graphically. Even Johnny commenting on the most random shit is amazing me, I like this style of narration. Adds a nice layer to things, basically an asshole commenting about your actions. Missions have been great, but I do skip all the padding like I do in most games. I never liked open world game design, so I don't miss the world being an immersive sim. I never liked side activities in GTA or RDR2, just a bunch of bullshit to me.

495 bugs encountered so far during 14 hours.

So that means that on average I'm encountering bugs every 1.6 minute. that is if my logic was correct.

I had that problem.
Seems to be when I wear a hat.
If I don't have any kind of headwear, my character has hair when looking in the mirror.

Yeah, this game would have been better were it not open world. Maybe just really expansive levels that play out in a district of a city like Deus Ex.

Also they could have heightened the first person camera a bit. I constantly have to look up to the NPCs I'm talking to.

anyone else got artefacting or even missing SSR (screen space reflections) ?
i tried new driver, reinstall of teh game and mostly all i can think of..

this is what i mean:

first Pic shows teh artefacting in teh top right corner for example. No matter if i set it to LOW or even Psycho..
second Pic shows with SSR - OFF

it kinda also looks like with SSR - ON, the reflections are gone, lol...
anyone else can test this or is having teh same issue?

Thanks ..

Anyone else trying to play this on OLED and getting eye strain in general? I mean. Cant figure out if its something to do with the TV size vs distance combined with lots of small text and whatnot but its one of the first games im considering playing on my monitor instead because on the TV its tiring to try and pay attention to all the text / inventory items etc etc. Or combination with lots and lots of detail and city/neon lights and maybe some sort of light sensitivity i have.

Distance is 2.5m from a 55 OLED. Every other game ive played was ok.
Edit : fuck, checking distance to tv size i see i should have at least a 65’... well. Yeah. Uh.. guess its time for a 65’ cx next year or... idk. Fml

I have constant eye strain in this playing on monitor. Turning weapon sway help a little. I dunno if it's some sharpening or something.

To be honest, a linear shooter wouldn't have gained nearly as much popularity. An open-world game in a cyberpunk setting done right has been one of my dream games and it's so very disappointing that they dropped the ball on this one.

Stopped playing for good, while I liked the story missions and some side content, the open world part is broken and incredibly basic. Seriously, it brings nothing new to the table and a lot of stuff is either missing or has been done better in other games. Maybe bugfixes, DLC and mods can fix this, but it would need support on the level of No Mans Sky to get this anywhere near the game I had hoped for.

I have tried both "performance fixes", the AMD fix and the memory pools budgets thingy, none of them did anyone in my environment, still 69-71 fps with or without fixes.
