Quote: | This update will allow you to run the game now...
This is the update to Galactic Civilizations II, it include the v1.0D1 update file as well as
Collectors Edition Content which is only available to people who pre-ordered.
Remember you need Stardock Central to install the game itself so if you
still not got it this is the link:
http://sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe
This is a direct download and you don't need to sign in or anything.
By the way, this update are .exe files so you don't need Stardock Central to install it.
Galactic Civilizations II: Latest Version v1.01D update
This includes all updates and The Bonus Pack.
The Bonus Pack includes:
+ Additional new visual effects
+ Several new ship components
+ New Computer AI levels
+ A few gameplay tweaks from playing the gold master
+ Full screen video support for tutorials
+ 3 new large hulls
+ 4 new maps
+ 4 new scenarios
+ Ability to enter money via keyboard in the diplomacy screen
+ Smarter tooltips
+ 15 new race logos for custom races
Please seed, if possible can someone combine this update with the game
and Stardock Central and seed it as a new torrent? Do this after the torrent has been around
a while first.
Enjoy people, I will not upload anymore updates from now on. If you like the game then buy it
from the developers and then you will continue to get all the updates.

Don't think it is gonna work, the game still needs to be activated right?, a patch will not solve this.

If you look closely at the archive, the serial number he used is right there... but you still need to log in to update I believe.

RTFM - there's a *.txt file which explains how it works just perfectly...

You definitely need a unique serial number tied to your account to activate the game in order to play. But screw this, I'll just buy the game.

It crashes right after the intro...
Waiting to try the update method, but galciv2.com just took a dive, not approving registrations it seems... at least not sending activation emails.

THe update method works. Amazing. This is something I have to remember for the future. Remember to change the Autorun file before installing the patch.
Damn. This is one for the history books.

I got it from GalCiv2.com, but apparntly people can't get it anymore.
Look I an't tell you where of course, go look around. We are upping the patch now. Once you Get that patch, and the Game files.
Install the games files.
Change the autorun file to GalCiv2.exe
Then install the patch.
It works fine.

The only thing that worries me is that due to the unsual way the game has been installed, I wonder if there aren't any unusual hinks in the game. Aside from the regular bugs.
I wish someone would test the game through and through to make sure every thing is fine. I would but I have an A-Level mock tmw.

You don't even need the patch. I've simply downloaded some bonus thingy they let you download from the official site, without the need to enter the serial number. To my surprise, after the install of this bonus file, the game worked.

The bonus thingy is the patch apparntly.
It updates the game from .006 to .007. 10D1.006 (or something like that) that is.

1) Install Stardock Central. You don't need to register Stardock Central or type in a serial number,
it is only needed to install the Archive files.
2) Once Stardock Central is installed, launch it and click on the File menu. Select "Restore Archive and browse to the Archive files.
Stardock Central will now ask you to select a path to install the game to. Choose one and click on OK.
3) There are 4 Archive files altogether because it is broken up for faster distribution. It should not matter what order you
install them but install the file 'Galactic Civilizations II_1.0.005_02.14.2006' first and followed by the others (you need to
install all 4 files).
** This would be a good time to install the bonus pack to get a working .exe file. Rename the GCClaunch.exe to galciv2.exe and install the bonus pack.
4) The game should run now. You should not need a serial number to play the game but if anyone has any problem
