The rebind crouch issue should have been fixed with the 1.04 patch, normally. In my case, it was. I have ctrl for toggle crouch now just fine (pre-1.04 it didn't save the bind).
I had the same problem until I made sure to rebind Hold Crouch to something else as well.
The game tries to revert your bindings when you rebind Hold Crouch to Toggle Crouch and let Hold Crouch be empty. But if you rebind Hold Crouch as well then it won't, at least not for me.
I swapped the C and CTRL keys back then but was still same.

Should try now then. I always play games with CTRL as toggle crouch. When I install and start a game it's the second thing I check after unticking Motion Blur, CA and such. Having to always hold CTRL fucks up my pinkie since one guy stepped on it and broke it during a football match long time ago...

finished the game today incredible experience if you can get past some of the bugs (which for me did not impact the game much luckily)
very happy with the story & characters, keanu was fantastic especially. looking forward to any expansions they might make and i'm completely baffled by the quantity of people who are acting like the game is garbage because it had a bad release on console lol

without reading the whole thread, can somebody tell me, if anybody got the game "working" on windows 7 so far?
It's compatible, thanks to a DX12 on 7 wrapper, but I don't know much more specifically beyond that. I'd expect your hardware specs is still the most important factor.
friend of mine was playing on windows 7. it's part of the official min system requirements so it should work without having to do anything fancy.
that said, he had crashes whenever mirrors were activated but fixed it by changing some settings I think. not sure if it's because of win7 or other reasons.
