Story missions are like 10-15 hours or so.

And that is without fast traveling.

I don't have much time to game these days, so I'm only at 32 hours, but I think this is almost as good as Witcher 3 (without the DLC). That's the biggest praise I can give it atm. Witcher 3 was much more intricate though, I'm not sure how to explain it. I hope in a year or two with DLCs and maybe an enhanced edition, this'll be even better than Witcher 3.
At times this game looks so beautiful, it's the first time I want to take screens of a game (I don't though). I was also pleasantly surprised by the shooting, it feels very good.

Got some source on that?

Its pretty clear that it has been scraped and rebooted multiple times. Id be in compelte shock if this version that we're playing was developed for more than 18 months. Thats my guess

But its unbelievable how many people think this game was in development for 8 years.

If they just made a semi-linear FPS RPG (similar to the games that put them on the map) it would have been awesome, oh well. I dont think anyone ever asked for openworld from Witcher 1 or 2 either.. but Op3NW0RlD durr.

It's not that unbelievable. The average gamer has no idea how game development works. I'm sure even after the inevitable Schreier exposé comes out revealing some sort of Anthem-like scenario, people will still talk about 8 years.

60 hours in and still having fun in this. Even tho if I wasn't used to save-scum every minute in every other game, I admit this would've been very frustrating to play. Random deaths all the time. I think it's something to do with double jumping because I never died after jumps before I bought the implant. But I just love to jump and can't stop myself doing it. Laughing
Also many of the side missions are made very lazy (as said previously but I still say the variety in gameplay is good enough). I mean their stories - most things already happened "shortly" before you get to the mission's place. In Witcher 3 you play they happen during your playing. As a comparison I will mention 2 missions for both games.

And almost all side missions are like this. For me Witcher 3 had more boring gameplay but at least good stories that you play while here it's kinda the opposite.

The gigs are a letdown, yeah. I'll probably not going to do them all. Main story and side quests, that's the game, basically. Those are all pretty great, actually, but also pretty linear (ie new quests trigger only after reaching a certain point) and there's little impact to what you do. Free roam and open world gameplay elements are missing or not worth it.

W3 is still way, way better. I couldn't let that game down for 5 minutes, but with Cyberpunk, I enjoy it when I'm in the game, but often don't feel much incentive to start it up. Only with Judy's and Panam's quests, I wanted to see where they went.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

I'm replaying Witcher 3 with a bunch of mods right now and I concur. I think what makes Witcher 3 better is that it all feels more personal and it has a more calm atmosphere some how.
I also think the Witcher 3 benefited greatly from having a well established character that's already well known (lore wise in the universe) as well as having had two games prior to build up that character.

I like V but Geralt is extremely relatable for me, he's an old man who likes a woman here and there, he's morally grey but has a redeeming feel to him when it matters.
He's mostly quiet but when he says something I feel for him and he has an ethos of sorts (he kills monsters (including human ones)). He's just really likeable.
There are nuances to him that are revealed as you play that makes you think of him as a person rather than a game character as well.
I'll never forget the Unicorn (Laughing) or that moment where he sarcastically asks a dwarf crafter to make him a self-cleaning armor. xD In fact, he's ironic quite a lot in his dialogue, almost always said with a glint in his eye. Very Happy

I think the reason it feels more intricate some how is simply that it feels like it's been crafted with care and experience (story/character/progression wise) due to having had two prior games in the series.

V is more of a blank card (despite the life path) to me and never felt as personal as Geralt did, but he did grow on me towards the last 3rd of the game.

Agree for sure. Though it does seem as CDPR are damned either way when it comes to player characters.

If they make a fixed protagonist like Geralt, they get accused of not making a real RPG as people can't deviate too far from the fixed personality.

If they make a blank/open protagonist they get criticised for not having an interesting player character and story.

Personally I preferred Geralt as a fixed protag to V, but I know it was a fairly common criticism of The Witcher series that people couldn't play the PC they wanted.

Not jumping but some collision stuff. I keep randomly dying when bouncing into stuff or stepping of a higher object (can be even a curb). Same issue with trash randomly exploding when touching it.

They really picked the shittiest time to release the game. And not because of the bugs. It has already been 20 days since the launch and it's still in the same buggy state as on launch.

Most of the people have moved on already.

@Yondaime maybe you're right, what elevates Witcher 3 to great heights might be the two previous games. I was talking about the game(world) btw, Geralt was obviously a better character since we were invested in him. I hope they won't give up on this after all the criticism, I want more games in this universe. Fleshed out better of course. As much as I loved Witcher, I was done with it after three games. I really hope they don't refocuse on that universe competely just to please old fans.

Witcher 3 was great DESPITE being an open world game, because of characters, choice consequence and strong sense of place. Combat was not stellar, but I liked it. Itemization was a bore.

CP2077 has even better sense of place and atmosphere, but the core issue is, it doesn't know, what it wants to be. GTA it is not (and imho should not be). World reactivity is just not there, and it should not be there. The main issue is that it lacks in RPG elements - mainly choice and consequence.

Shooting is alright. Itemization is absolute boring trash. But writing and presentation are great!

Overall, CP is a lot harder to do right, and focusing on GTA aspects simply took away from the game. You don't need GTA shit in an RPG. You need RPG stuff in an RPG.

I just can't believe how short the main story is... Reached a certain point and was like WTF, this can't be it already. The game is a fucking disgrace, a stupid joke. A giant, pointless unfinished waste of time and such a huge stinky mess overall. CDPR should go out of business and simply disappear after this embarrassment.

40-60 hours is optimal IMO, maybe I'm just getting old Sad
I don't dilly dally in games, I still have lots to do after 30 hours. I'm not doing any of the blue icons. Long enough IMO.

You can fail a bunch of quests and it will say so in the mission log. For example, the clown mission can be failed if you don't help him during the fight.
