After several attempts and an embarrassing amount of phantom "this time I'm going to finish it" not-so-solid pains, I finally reached the sneaky elusive end. Also known as Episode 46: The man who enjoyed the game whilst absolutely hating it at the same time
It's evident from the infamous second chapter and its shamefur copypasta that things went nasty at the parasite-infected Pachinko HQs, though the idea of going open world without having a structure able to sustain it and the focus on maps capable of making even Ubisoft's level design look decent in comparison wasn't exactly a brilliant plan in the first place. The compulsive silly fultoning, pointless mother base busywork, horrid UI, generic missions, the wimpy silent Snake and a diluted narrative with twists that could challenge even the ol' Syfy didn't really boost the immersion either.
I've never seen the MGS series as a particularly great one, but at least the linear-ish structure granted cohesiveness to the classic games and offered good pacing alongside a pleasant atmosphere of nonsense KoJijapness. This beast put together with duct tape on the other hand rarely produces bits where the magic happens, and even when it does, the pieces are way too few and far between.
Thankfully the actual core gameplay is what manages to partially salvage the disaster, since with the great responsiveness, satisfying animations, AI and overall smoothness of the sandbox-y action even the mundane missions become acceptable. Whether it's by panthering around or by Ramboing it always feels entertaining to troll the enemies in the most deranged ways like an anarchic tactical big goose. Still, I find hilariously sad and quite emblematic that the most well-crafted mission by far is Ground Zeroes, which isn't even part of the game. 6,5 fultoned B-ranked whatashames/10
I actually enjoyed this metal gear, gameplay wise and story wise, and that sexy quiet was nice i enjoyed the secret ending a lot to my surprise, all in all i liked it, i wish i could find average games like this that i can finish and enjoy it as a whole.

Coming in never having played any of the previous games, MGS5 was a fucking hugely nonsensical pile of horseshit, narrative-wise. Kojima is clearly the Japanese David Cage. But as you say, gameplay-wise there is a lot of fun to be had just wandering around and choking people out, blowing shit up, etc. At least in small doses anyway. It does start to become repetitive pretty quickly. But I like to trot it out again every so often for a few days.

I was big MGS fan once. MGS1, MGS3, Peace Walker, even MGS2 are among my favourite games. My dream would be the passion and story of MGS1/MGS3 combined with Phantom Pain gameplay.
What MGS5 lack is passion. Game is so fucking repetetive, cheaply and lazy done copy/paste(repeating same missions) with mechanics from mobile games(grinding, base building). And the plot is so uninspiring.

I would rate it now 5/10
Better or worse than MGS4?

A tough call. Both have terrible plot but the one in MGS4 is at least finished. MGS5 have much better gameplay but used in uninspired game, that becomes very boring very fast.
Both are bad games but I would call MGS4 a better MGS than Phantom Pain but worse game generally.
Any way to use AA besides DSR'ing it up the ass? I can't find any info regarding a possible nDerpia Inspector profile, and injectSMAA/Reshade/etc doesn't seem to work
Already modded it to turn off the horrible baked in FXAA too.

I don't know if the Reshade compatibility is tied to specific versions of the game, but it worked fine for me on the yarr when I played it (I think it was Reshade 4.4).
MGS4 is miles better than MGS5... It has some epic scenes (return in Shadow Moses, the final act/battle), and missions are not repeating itself.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is Now Playable on PC via PS3 Emulation
Have you actually tried it? My experience with it wasn't as smooth as the video suggests (9700K & 1080, performance varying significantly, visual bugs, sound popping), but this was mid last year. Unsure if some newer custom builds have emerged.

I finished it on an R7 1700 and an RX 580 8GB. There were moments where the FPS tanked badly but for the most part it was playable and I was able to finish the whole thing.
I happenend to finish it for the first two weeks ago on a 3950X using this fork: https://github.com/illusion0001/rpcs3/releases
The framerate got really bad at times, not what I was expecting after those videos. Maybe it runs significantly better on Intel?

Finally played through this recently and got really hooked on it, to the point that I ended up 100%-ing it! Afterwards I got even more hooked on making something in Blender and I can finally show it:
