yeah, it would very much surprise me if its open world in the same way as the originals.. it requires a ton of more effort and it can much more easily fail, it's not a safe route.

That's my fear/suspicion as well.
I really hope I'm proven wrong, but my default state right now is to assume that the game is going to be an Exodus clone.
I'm also concerned that if they do end up producing something good, the modding support will be awful due to UE 4 (despite the dev's claims). UE4's default cooked file formats do not lend themselves well to modding. |

Seems unusual to dump their in-house engine, they've spent a decade investing in it. That makes me think its cheaper and they will just make usual run of the mill UE4 FPS.

Yeah, fans have turned X-Ray into a modern engine (with Oxygen and Open X-Ray branches). Porting it to 64 bit and adding DX12 support and tons of new graphical features.
If a bunch of fans can do that, there is no way a dedicated dev team couldn't have made an updated version.
There is no way they will manage to re-create all the advanced AI scripting and systems from the originals.
Even just the complex armour system which gave every suit different protective values for different parts of the body, and treated bullet damage different depending on penetration vs impact. Not necessarily something a lot of players were aware of in game, but something that modders had an awful lot of fun with. |

While cool, todays gamers don't care much about those kinds of mechanics, why would you bother? Anyway we havn't seen shit yet, wait and see.

Yeah that sucks balls..I'm using a Greasy Fork script which works - kind of, although it's not ideal ( https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/375525-youtube-age-verification-bypass )

Man, I don't want to get hyped, but since I'm balls deep on LA (DC 1.4007 this time) and on Anomaly it's hard not to. Really hope they won't fuck it up... that much. Or at least have a brain and easily accessible mod tools, since the community was the only thing that kept this game/universe alive for so many years.
BTW just look for stalker 2 dev highlights on google, it returns a few videos that don't ask you to sign in.

Looks good, but I don't want to get too excited. No previews, barely any screenshots or concrete info so far.
On the one hand I get it, wouldn't want to waste my time with most creatures that pass of as gamejournos these days, but on the other... dunno mens

On the one hand I liked the trailer, on the other hand it's very difficult to even try to extrapolate predictions from something that may very well be a faux and ultimately deceiving showreel à la Cyberpunk.
Will there be actual cinederpification in the game? How consolized will the world and UI be? The body would like to go blyat but it would unwise to be excited about this yet. I've already preordered the isodemo, though.

isnt it clear from the shit sounds, lack of recoil and weapon impact and AI that shoots sideways from a few metres ? Its a modern, console shooter. You dont need to wait for anything, we all know how it will be. This is some fawx Stalker impostor

I don't remember it being so easy to solo 6-7 bandits. Dude went in like Captain Price
1 and 2 are still amazing.
