I've been looking to buy a soundbar for my UE48H5500 Samsung LED Tv, preferably in the ~250 EUR range and with Bluetooth support.

In before "buy a 5.1 setup" - don't have any space, and any soundbar is still better than the default speakers, I can't take them anymore Laughing

See if you can find a used good condition Sonos, they're top line for powered sound bars, but expensive if bought new.

If not them, I whole heatedly love the Yamaha series. I bought my dad one and it sounds great for what it is, tested it out on my system.

Has a subwoofer hookup for it too so you can add any one you want later on down the road instead of being stuck with whatever it comes with. Simple subwoofer (single RCA) cable and you're good. Adding a sub in later would let your smaller drivers breath better to focus on the mids/highs. Even a cheapo Polk PSW10 would work great with it (if you wanted that option later). The built in subwoofer can put out more bass than I thought it would be able to. I tested it at my parents place and I could hear the bass upstairs.

YAS-108 is the newest one
https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-Surround-Bluetooth-Soundbar-YAS-108/dp/B07D73HMVR

The dobly X (atmos shit) is a bit gimmicky but does work in some movies for bouncing sound off the cieling. Really cool sounding on Dunkirk and Kong but imagine you won't notice it at all if any.

Klipsch has one, no need to mention their reputation:
https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-R-10B-Bluetooth-Soundbar-Subwoofer/dp/B00M0SQM2U

JBL, they're not the high end they used to be but they still make good shit:
https://www.amazon.com/JBL-Soundbar-Wireless-Subwoofer-Bluetooth/dp/B075SH93CL

These are all obviously USD prices, dunno where you shop at over in Neonland. Some people like Vizio/Sony and all those cheapo ones but I tend to stick with companies who specialize in sound. I think you'll be plenty happy with that Yammy.

I had the same problem when I bought my Samsung 4K TV but quickly realized that a better option is bookcase speakers. They do take up a little more space but there's only two speakers and they sound much deeper and richer than most soundbars from the same price range. Edifier has great speakers for this purpose - I put them right besides my TV cupboard and you can't even tell where the sound comes from.

Edifier R2730DB I can highly recommend. They have bluetooth support, TWO line ins (I use one with my Audio Technica record player, another for my PS2), optional sub out in case you ever want to add a sub (not needed really since the bass is already too much for my neighbours Laughing ) and optical + coaxial ports. They also look much cooler than a soundbar.

If you lack the space on the floor, there's plenty of cheap wall brackets for speakers to hang them next to your TV.

I don't think soundbars are worth it, if you are looking for per dollar parity in sound quality with other setups.

I managed to snag a really good discount on a Focal Dimension - they sound great, but I bought it at 40% price basically, and even then it cost a lot!

Movies sound absolutely stellar with very clear voices, balanced lows.

Others that sounded really good were the Q Acoustics M4 and M2. Those are the best value, that you can find imho, from a recognized, and very good brand.

Finally bought a soundbar for our TV and omg what a difference.

We had some Logitech Speakers for the last 2 years (40ish$) and well, the sound was as expected, lol. Anyway, now we have this:

https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/sony-ht-sf150-120w-soundbar-7500113

100€~ and fuck me, what a difference. It's 120W, supports HDMI arc, optical, Bluetooth, USB

we use it with HDMI ARC, so now we only need the apple tv remote to control everything.

Anyway, cost/performance ratio, excellent I'd say. Sounds are clear and you can distinguish every sound, no matter how "noisy" the scene is. With the "cheap" Logitech speakers, as soon as there was a loud source, anything else was muffled basically.

10/10

When it comes to sound, I find it usually best to buy from companies that produce nothing else, but sound equipment.

Never found anything logitech related, that sounded right. Ever.

Compared to what he had before I'm sure its really good, relatively speaking. Especially for the price.

It's fucking day and night. I am spending half my day in front on the tv now, before, I hardly ever watched anything on it Smile

My wife is happy and ... not so happy at the same time Smile

BUT she also complains (when she is angry, otherwise she doesn't really care) about me being to much on my computer. Well, not anymore!

I am convinced that a good sound setup is by far more important to experience a movie than a large TV screen. The audio creates the space and the presence.

I still use a 46" 1080p TV but have not felt the need to upgrade yet. Though those OLED TVs sure are becoming tempting, I'm holding out still. My sound setup is a 10y old 5.1 Teufel Motiv 3, that I partly bought because I liked the aesthetic at the time but it got good reviews for its size too. https://www.areadvd.de/hardware/2009/teufel_motiv3.shtml

And the Onkyo reciever was 300€ at the time.

All in all 800€ for a setup that works well for me, but I'm sure sound specialists will say they can get alot better for less money.

Long story short, if your 100€ soundbar sounds amazing for you, then enjoy it! I think its pretty incredible what can be achieved with these tiny setups nowadays. Nothing for purists, sure, but incredible still.

my projector screen is 124", a soundbar for that would not make sense, it would take me out of the experience. they're a little better than TV sound in my experience, but not by THAT much (i've not heard any super expensive ones though, just in the 150 dollar range or so).

i'm still on an old 5.1 setup, big speakers.. not sure i think it's worth upgrading to anything newer/better.

Yeah, even the very best soundbars are not that great, not worth the cost for them IMO. Sure, they are miles better than the in-built TV jobs, but you are better off with a decent amp and speakers, that will do great for streaming music also. Unless you wish a 10.1 setup with surround miniatures in every corner of the room?, it really ain't worth it.

I have a Polaroid 65" 4K TV. The sound is abysmal, hence why I bought the Logitech speakers for it back then. It was unwatchable otherwise.

Anyway, now the sound is great with this Sony sound bar. Dunno why some people here have to doubt anything anyone say constantly, but guess that's in their nature...

Between "sound is great" with your soundbar and "sound is great" with a decent 5.1 or even 2.1 setup there is a huge difference.

Its relative. People who already have invested in higher-end setups will most certainly not feel like a 100€ soundbar would be able to produce good sound. But by their standards, not yours, coming from logitech speakers.

So you're saying a 1000€ setup will sound better than a 100€ one?

You're starting to sound really patronising, you know?

Just saying...

Why do I even bother, lol.

I read some reviews on a Swedish shop because i got curious, it varied from "no improvement over my TV" to "Great". it had a 3/5 score. It's probably decent for the money but it also depends on the TV, TV sound can range from horrible to decent.
