You are honestly better off removing all this junk BEFORE at image level, integrating all your drivers, .reg edits, group policy edits etc, permanently disabling access to ALL and ANY updates whatsoever, then doing the same every six months or so, if there is anything worth updating to by then.

This thing can no longer be trusted to have access to anything regarding updates, else you will be back to square one before you know it, a riddled pile of bloated horse shit, as at least this way, you only end up with a riddled pile of bloated cat shit.

it should work with the media creating tool and an inplace upgrade but i doubt that it will be good idea to do it.
you want a clean system, to get the most out of your hardware and not a system which will run worse then 8.1 because of bugs which can happen with a upgrade.

do yourself a favor, backup your stuff and do a clean install.

upgrade does exactly what it say, upgrade and keep old shit, not reccomended and a new install forces u to get rid of old shit u dont use and makes u backup important stuff, dont be lazy, start fresh and backup ur shit u care about

Code:
   .SYNOPSIS
`Start-WindowsCleanup` cleans-up a system clutter and reclaims disk space.
   .DESCRIPTION
The `Start-WindowsCleanup` cmdlet performs the following clean-up tasks to reclaim disk space:
Clears the contents of common directories of the Windows file system for both the current running user and the global system that are used to store temporary, logging, backup, cache and dump files.
Runs the Windows Disk Clean-up utility automatically as a .NET process by setting the appropriate VolumeCache subkeys on the StateFlags registry property.
Removes all VolumeCache subkeys that were previously set by `Start-WindowsCleanup` after the Windows Disk Clean-up utility has completed.
Cleans-up the WinSxS Component Store by removing superseded component files and resetting the image base.
Logs all clean-up actions to a transcript that is saved in the C:\Windows\Temp directory.

https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10x

Quote:
Windows 10X is a new version of Windows that has been built from the ground up for new PCs, and will begin shipping on hardware in 2021. It's built on top of a new modern version of Windows called 'Windows Core OS' that guts legacy components and features in favor of contemporary user experiences and enhanced security.

This means everything from the Windows Shell to the underlying OS has been rebuilt with modern technologies. As a result, Windows 10X does not support legacy Win32 applications at launch. Windows 10X PCs in 2021 will be able to run Microsoft Edge, UWP, and web apps.

Legacy Win32 application support will arrive at a later date, however. When it does, Win32 applications will run in a secure container by default, meaning those legacy applications cannot affect system performance and battery life when closed. Windows 10X is a much more secure and stable OS as a result of this, as there's no opportunity for legacy apps to cause bitrot.

We'll see how it fares and how different it is from the Windows 10X that was presented a year ago aimed at surface-based hardware.

"When it does, Win32 applications will run in a secure container by default"

Sounds like emulation but not really installed way or something.. Like when ya run another Windows system in a virtual machine or something. "Whatever ya do in there will be lost once done or won't be transfered to W10X "

Laughing Laughing Laughing ahh, good old Windows 10. We decide what you want, and whether you like it or not, when you want Laughing NEVER let this thing connect, until you have most things in place, I mean NEVER!, and after, DISABLE it's ability to do so Wink Once done, image the system, and keep it safe. DO NOT do any manual updates! Run with that till something important comes out, which is nothing on Windows 10, then rinse, repeat.
