Just think of it all like the virus. It may ease?, but it will never go away  These times are here to stay I'm afraid, and costs are only going in one direction, UP!, and the longer most remain in lock-down, the tougher it will be for all. So best get used to it.
One cant expect goods and prices to be normal, when the economy is all going to shit, no Sir! This, of course, encourages those who wish to cash in on your desperation, and will scalp until the cows come home.
You either pay the ludicrous costs, if you wish something that bad enough, or don't, and do without. It's all wrong, but we have created this mess we now live in, and you cant have it both ways I'm afraid

I got laughed at three times during this generation switch.
Once, when I didn't sell my 2080 ti before 3080 release. I saw people selling theirs in a hurry, dirt cheap, because they thought it would be worth less after the 3080 release. Guess who's laughing now, bois? People who sold theirs once their 3080 arrived, for a lot more, that's who.
Then the second time they laughed, when I bought a 3080 right at launch from someone who got lucky at the very beginning. Well, they are not laughing now, when even after 3 months the street price of cards (only way to get them) is a fucking 400 euros more than what I bought it for - and even those are sold out.
Third time they laughed, when I preordered PS5 on hour 1 of preorders going up - I had mine shipped on the day of launch and could sell it used for double the price today.

In fact any even closely good gaming card is nowhere to be found for a solid price. Here even 1080 Ti's are sold for over 400€ within an hours or a few days.
I can't remeber such bad situation in terms of hardware availability.
Same could be said about CPUs apart from soon-to-bee old Intel's models very few are ready to buy anyway.

Who makes the most profit from it. It's a scam in the sense that it siphons money from one kind of people to another. It is nothing but a commodity at this point and barely, if at all, "money". People don't use it, they only trade it.
