About 95 hours in and about 220 power level, to me this game is best in series, i didn't like the old games, from new games i didn't like Origins, Odyssey was very good and i put around 150 hours into it, Valhalla is better in any regard gameplay wise, less weapons and armor are a godsend and i really like the combat! You can get a skill to have both 2 hand weapons like greatsword and hammer and it's just fun to mix weapons, abilities are good but tbh not so many i use and i wish they added more. One thing i miss is having 2 bows and you could change bows mid combat in previous games and they should have keep the option. I like everything else they changed like now your hp does not refill after combat, no need for wood for arrows and i never left without arrows.
Playing on PS5 and England looks awesome, really reminds me of The Witcher 3 landscapes for some reason.
The thing that is better in Odyssey for me are the characters, especially Kassandra is muchhhh better then Eivor. Also liked other characters more in Odyssey. Also i think that overall story was better in Odyssey but i atill got alot to do in Valhalla so i can't fully jugde yet.
All in all i really like it, i still have an hard-on for open world games and collecting shit and upgrade your character/home and such so it's a very good fit for me.

Is Asgard of any importance for the overall story? The amount of XP you get in this game is over the top. Even on hard you outlevel areas too fast.

Both yes and no. They serve their purpose best just for a twist i believe. Its a cinematic you need to do all world anomalies to unlock. Go for them. You see trees etc flickering in the distance when you're close. When you watch it you kinda feel it didn't matter much, but still its nice content to do.

okay so game was still crashing even with constantly deleting the cache
but lo and behold think i finally got a definitive (??) fix:
read somewhere that dropping the refresh rate to 60hz worked for them.. well , mine was already set to 60... so i tried going the other direction: i set it to 120hz on my C9 Oled (@1080p bc gtx1070 and bc miners stole my new gpu!).
aand whatta you know been playing for days without a single crash! *fingerscrossd*
so if you're crashing try playing with refresh rates

Nah not for me anyway... About to see the end as there's like 2-3 areas i didn't finish yet, did all 3 other maps and didn't like it so much tbh, as for story and characters i like it way much in Odyssey so i really don't care what more they are adding to the story, will watch over YT and be done with it. I do like some of the gameplay changes they did and england looks great but at same time i have some sour taste left from nearing the end which i didn't have up to the DLCs on Odyssey, not sure why, it may be that i basically got everything you can get (2 special weapons left after ending), or the story didn't work for me, i really don't care for Eivor while i really liked Kassandra, oh well still a good game.

Definitely overstayed its welcome but still cannot say i didnt enjoy myself overall...
I guess ill check back with the complete edition and hopefully some dlc unlocker

After 39 hours, I still like it. It might be the one I enjoy most after the Ezio games. I skip most of the optional stuff though, like I always do with Ubi games.

As someone that loved origins and enjoyed odissey for 120h, i tapped out on this one at 50h and that was already overdue, at 25h i was wondering if it got better than moving from map to map and assaulting castles and doing repetitive raids that dont even require a raid, i could solo everything on hardest dificulty.
This game is very wacky when it comes to balancing, dificulty and leveling, the tree makes little sense, skills are varied and make the combat tolerable, animations are horrible, most stuff doesnt connect and they teleport all over the place to match the finishers..
Story is just gathering alliances that from what i read dont matter much by the end, asgard is the most interesting part but thats like 5% of the game, this is a very repetitive game even by AC standards, i had no trouble running around in odissey for 120h and meeting interesting chars and the family/atlantis plot was way more interesting than anything in this game, it overstays its welcome for sure, some alliance plots are ok, but they are nowhere near enough to carry this game for me.
The whole sigurd/gods/eivor plot doesnt rly make sense, your eivor has visions, odin talks to him all the time, yet he is like, "i dont understand any of this, you are all crazy".. it seems they made the fantastical/asgard plot/quests AFTER the whole historical aliance plot.
I know this is not a movie and even movies fuck up most the time, but man the chars do 180º's all the time in this game, especialy sigurd, he shunts his brother one sec and praises him the next.

Yeah I'm also tagging out. I played this as much as possible to finish it in a month, maybe that burned me out. It's too easy IMO, even without doing much side BS, and everything feels disjointed. I liked the viking theme and the world looks nice, but the generic Ubisoft sauce kills it. I didn't finish it so I don't know how everything comes together in the end, but The Order/Assassins part makes absolutely no sense to me. Every time I killed someone from The Order I got that badly written dialogue, thinking "who the hell are you guy? Am I supposed to know you?". I feel like I'm playing a Frankenstein game, everything seems forced together. Why don't they just make a Viking game if they want to make a Viking game? What's trendy atm people? Let's put all that shit into one game!
It was a good 45 hours of fun for 15 bucks though, so worth it. I hate not finishing a game, but I feel like I'm wasting my time now. Don't play this and Immortals at the same time, you'll realize how terrible Ubisoft has become as a dev/publisher.

These sequences when you kill targets has always been a part of the assassins creed series though. I don't exactly know what it's supposed to be. But it sure could be less England and more Norway/Sweden etc. But too much mountains and i'd go crazy though.

The sequences are AC yes, but it's completely out of place in this game. The dialogue is also horrible in these sequences.

I think most of the big ones were fine. The short ones were very pointless though.
