I'm guessing because Microsoft has only just recently started their push for putting first party titles on Steam, the biggest being Halo MCC. I'm sure the Forza series will come eventually  |
Pears 5 is also on Steam, but not 4. Most likely UWP. |

Any way to skip those damn intro movies? AFAIK the files are encrypted and MS won't let you do even the slightest tweak. (running it with Xbox Pass PC (beta)).

I bought the Ultimate Edition (includes all DLC's, VIP pass, all DLC cars, the lot) today for $40 and change and cancelled my Game Pass subscription.
Microsoft Game Pass for PC has left beta and the monthly fee for the basic sub will more than double October 1st (10 Euro's instead of 4.5 Euros). If I sub more than 4 months I'd already paid for the Ultimate Edition of the game while only having access to the standard version. And FH4 is the only game in MS store that I play and keep playing (online racing is fun).

Afaik you first need to buy a prepaid 3-year sub to standard Game Pass full price, THEN there used to be an offer to upgrade from standard up to 36 months of Ultimate for a very cheap price.

However, Ultimate Game Pass on PC is kinda worthless to me since it's basically about getting access to skins, characters etc. for certain games (and so far Forza Horizon 4 has never benefited from Ultimate). It may be different on the Xbox but on PC it's utterly useless unless you play competitive shooters like CoD, Fortnite (pukes) and the other similar crap games (IMHO, I'm just not the least interested in playing those kind of games whatsoever).
Anyway, ever since I got the game pass the only game I've played from start if FH4. I've tried some others but uninstalled them within days. And we won't see FH5 until quite a while after the new Forza Motorsport has been released; it was in early development a month ago so unless they're teasing the FM-fans it will take at least a year for THAT to be released, then another year for FH5 to be released...
Playground Games, the ones that make the Horizon games (Turn10 makes the Motorsport games and it's their engine that Playground is waiting for to build a new Horizon game on) and currently Playground is working on Fable 4 so that will take quite a while for the studio to complete before they can even begin to put together FH5 Japan (or wherever it will take place IF there's even a new Horizon on the horizon (pun intended)).
I wish they'd do a proper big DLC for FH4 (not some silly crap like Lego (bleh) or Fortune Island (I hate drifting in games), like adding an mini-Ireland to the game.. but I fear it will never happen. What's in Horizon 4 now is what's planned and what we'll be stuck with until 2022 or later.
Good thing there are so many things to do. I'm getting better at tuning cars (quite a challenge to make competitive tunes in various classes where the lower classes are limited in what you can put in there, then you have to tune the various settings for the springs, gear ratios, alignment (camber, toe-in/out, caster), anti-roll bar tuning stuff etc. and make a tune that is good enough to be competitive online. Getting all that shit right isn't easy since changes in one tuning area affects the other areas. But it's fun. I've also dabbled a little in creating liveries but the built-in livery editor is PAINFUL to use.
So beyond that I mainly do all the seasonals and a lot of online racing. Currently at 4* level 50'ish, so all in all I'm at level ~1400+ according to the leveling system.

Definitely the best arcade racer of the moment, though FH3 was prolly better. NFS is a joke by now, The Crew 2 is worse than the original (far worse) and TDU2 lost its servers (still a better game than The Crew 1/2 and any of the NFS games released in the past 15 years)
So, nice to see that MS wised up and takes the crown for the open world arcade racers. I seriously doubt that the possible TDU3 will pose any threat here.

The series is too #yeet 'n hip for my tastes, but I'll probably give it a shot anyway since it's the only reasonable option for open-world racing..besides GTA V

Does this game just hand you a badass car for each series or do you get a pile of crap that you upgrade parts on?
I feel like I have to ask this with every single game that's come out since Gran Tourismo 2 with the exception of NFS (earlier ones) and the infamously amazing Wreckfest...

Some races require you drive a specific type of car with a specific power limit. It's up to you to decide which car to buy and how to tune it to fulfil the needs for the race. Then there are weekly changing festival games where you can win rare cars and they require you to do various tasks (like special risky moves, achieving specific times on tracks, racing against rivals, competing in online matches etc).
There is a ton to do and hundreds (700+) cars to win.
