As a studio they are just forced to do it because there's more customers on console and mobile than PC period.
Thats not true anymore for a good nr of years. Depends on the game, but PC was ahead of xbox for pretty much this entire last generation and very close to ps4 in many ocassions where platforms sales were published. Ubisoft even had quarters where PC was the nr 1 money earner, ahead of everything else. Diablo 3 on PC also dwarved console sales. It was the fastest selling game ever on pc until just recently when WOW and Cyberpunk took that.
But yeah, its become almost impossible to make an actual PC game anymore. The first thing you would see on steam forums is "this is 2021, why no controller support".
Well its difficult but possible to code both those types experiences for each platform. As a studio they are just forced to do it because there's more customers on console and mobile than PC period. If you look at the EA and Activision figures, its amazing they even bother with PC at all anymore, getting a game thats not pay to play, muilti-polayer orientated and lootboxed etc. is just never going to happen from the big studio's, it just doesn't make sense anymore.
Not surprising why they want to go the mobile route.
Took them a couple failures to finally understand what everyone's asking for, this appears to be the proper D2 remaster I've been looking for !
By the time Diablo 4 comes out, everyone will still be playing Diablo 2..

It's not entirely Vicarious Visions. It's apparently Blizzard and VV hand in hand.
Also the 3D renderer is just pasted on top of the old engine (with a few tweaks to improve, not just change)
Hence why you can switch back and forth and the game should pretty much play exactly like before, even the frame-sensitive stuff - because under the hood the calculation is still at 25fps.
They did add stuff like more turn angles tho to add granularity etc.
Other QOL like shared account stash (no more mules), no char expiration, increased security due to integration into the new bnet, being able to join sessions of all difficulties, no more region seperation and remastered sound effects and more ambient sounds/improved general soundscape - all pretty great.
I love the part where they modeled all items and unique items show on the character with a unique model. Like fancy masks etc.

THEY WANT FORTY EUROS OMFG
for some machine learned boosted resolution movies, same story, same everything, just a little UI and stash quality of life improvement and some shitty gfx
How have you not been banned yet for being mega retarded?
I've seen people get banned for less.
It looks far far far far far superior. I mean big deal. 20 years of difference and who knows how many more millions in budget.
Also nobody said the movies are AI remastered. They're frame for frame remade afaik.
From what I've seen they have more than earned the $40
Do you just not like remakes or do you have some mega high standard for remasters/remakes that stems from... all these other great remasters? VV did Crash Bandicoot Nsane and Tony Hawks 1+2. They're the benchmark.

There was exactly no bannable offense in Pickupartists post
we are now in the era where EA offers the reasonably priced remasters and activison fanboys feel offended when told the truth on how 40 euros is greedy as fuck and one of the highest priced remaster prices out there
Yep awesome just a coat of paint, the cnc remaster was probably the best game of 2020 as well. There's just barely any single player games anymore, and rarely released in a working fashion (wasteland 3 was pretty good too, but fuck is it buggy and rough round the edges).
Now, let's see what Blizzard actually releases. Don't tell me you're already forgotten about wc3 reforged? I doubt they'll make the same mistake again (bet they made a few cutscenes to use and decided it was too much work. Anyway, i doubt they'll make the same mistake once, but you know what they say: fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice.. and all that
Looks good. It's still very colorful, but it's not going the Japanese Sci-Fi Shoot'em Up route like Grim Dawn where everything is bathing in neon green and pink.
I'm a big fan of 2.5D don't understand why developers don't use the format more often. Maybe its more work that just making something fully 3d, but i would imagine it leads to much better performance and you can in some ways get more detail working on the tiles once rendered too.
