This is the best Divinity OS game in the series so far.

So worth a buy, even at the EA stage?

Depends on how big your tolerance is for replaying the same content over and over.
Usually, with each new patch / content update people are getting back into the EA game and are trying out new added stuff. And with this pattern in mind, by the time the final / full game will be out, one would have already played the initial part(s) of the game way too many times(!).
And this brings fatigue and lack of motivation to start the game anew once it's released officially as a final product. It did happen to me and many other players also. Even PC GAMER had an interesting article on this situation, focused exclusively on the DOS3 EA.

I mean how much of a dumbass do you need to be to not realize that before you start playing a EA game seriously?

We've all been there with one game or another. I had that, among many others, with DSO2... Once it was released, I had played the beginning so many times, I couldn't get past it anymore without getting bored to death, lol. Now I try to play as little as possible as to not spoil the full release of a game.

Many people (including myself) are looking forward to it - despite everything, but we don't really like playing games that are officially still in Early Access, hence the awkward silence. Plus, there's also the fact that with Larian's games it's advisable to wait till the proverbial Enhanced Edition arrives. The patient bear can sleep tight.
But yeah, there haven't been any major updates/news lately (apart from some hotfixes), I'm guessing they're preparing something *soon* for the E3 and similar journoshows.

Yeah, I'm very much interested and was even gifted the thing on my birthday, but I still haven't delved into it since I don't see the point in playing something that unfinished.

I just hope they improve the writing because all I've seen has been very Larian i.e. too much focus on silliness and humour. A heavier focus on darker moments with some dank moments works wonders.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Maybe, but the early access build is pretty much done in terms of real content. All they'll be adding to it before release is some new classes and tweaking the combat. They aren't going to release any more story content or new areas. They might do some behind-closed-doors showoffs of later stuff that will get rolled into trailers and such eventually, but that's not going to get pushed into the public build.

I have just gotten to play the divinity enhanced edition games. So glad I waited.

I'm talking about the brand of humour used by Larian which isn't the same. Like they did in D:OS, some of which was great while others was facepalm worthy. BG1 and BG2 had it as well but not so much that you could call them comedies.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I don't know, there's a lot of wacky shit in BG1 especially.

Again, I'm not denying it and even mentioned the same but I'm talking about the imbalance of humour in Larian games.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Not a huge fan of Larian's humor either. It's a hit or miss for someone expecting a dark, serious tone.
And sadly DOS3 has it plenty also, judging by the looks of the EA.

The problem with Larian humor is, they're trying too hard at times. When you really try to be funny, you rarely are funny.

You could always just spend the whole game running around with Lae'zel and Shadowheart. They seem to be very much in the no-fun-allowed srs bsns category.

I tried it for a few hours when the early access came out, but I found the writing horrendous and as such lost all interest in it.

I was inclined to initially formulate the same opinion, but I don't agree now that 'horrendous' is the right term.
The writing is different from BG1 and BG2. Fundamentally different. Because at the core of the script there are creative people who were influenced by the company's culture, which consist of many, MANY aspects: the legacy of DOS games, European, a different style of humor / literature, XXI century, progressive, independent, political etc.
So, sadly, there can't be a true BG3 with the exact same pedigree of BG1 and BG2. The legacy of DOS is too powerful and the beliefs of Larian are too strong now to be fundamentally shaken and / or transformed.
In any case...
