Hmm i thought it was simple indeed, i got to the copper stage without a hitch. Then i got a boat went to the swamps and got fucked like bunny and tried to go back twice only to die again without hope. Lost it all. Im still recovering lol. I like it, its pretty chill and has so many lil details that make it fun to play.

I tried it due to the hype, I just couldn't get into it and refunded after an hour.
Maybe I'm just getting old and more picky about my games these days...

it's not age or pickyness fault, it's just this game... Over simplified, boring as hell, variety of enemies close to 0. It has good foundation, but it needs more complexity, more variety in everything and modders will make something worthwile in the end. Ofc it's in EA status, but with the money received, they need to ramp it up development fast cause this hype will evaporate soon.

For me it's the fact that evey time i travel far, i have to start over again with the game basically. Especially if i would have accidentally died. You can't transport minerals and you might just break your axe or pickaxe before you've set up your new camp. I might not know everything since i basically just started, but it is a mind-numbingly shitty process to expand throughout the world. Not to mention those fucking portals. Naming portals? WHY? Just let me select one of my portals and go there. My third portal didn't even work and i have no clue why.

I see people stating it's 'too easy' or 'too slow' - and I guess they're missing the point of the game.
In a way, I don't think calling it a 'survival' game is exactly correct. Survival games have traditionally involved a high level of risk, where death is a Very Bad Thing, and is best avoided.
In Valheim, you're already dead... so it wouldn't make any sense to make death a really big deal...
You lose some exp and worse, all your equipment, and so you do a good old fashioned corpse run.
And besides, this game is FAR from easy. Sure, it does take a while for the game to really get going, but your first foray into the swamplands is guaranteed to have you die very quickly. And the second Elder is unbelievably tricky - you need to be pretty well kitted out in Bronze level gear before you can even get close.
Besides, this IS a refined version of Minecraft I would suggest. And if the developers can somehow sort out the networking and server issues, this game has the potential to be just as big. And even for EA, it's got so much content it's ridiculous. And there's more to come.
I think anyone playing this under the impression it's a harsh survival game, where eating dirt and hacking down trees with the femur of an enemy are the only ways to survive are mising the point.

For me, it's one of the "Put aside until out of EA as to not spoil all the fun ahead of time" - games.

Allright, playing it again, no more swamp for me, going for the elder boss, found the plains, instadeath as soon as i face a new enemy. This is the second biome i find after black forest and i died. It may have been easy in the begining but holy fuck i cant even progress now lol.

Dont think about the swamp until you have upgraded bronze gear and anti-poison potions.

Good day Valheimers!
Todays patch has some huge changes to dedicated servers. Dedicated servers now always use direct connections instead of using Steam Datagram Relay (SDR). This should result in much lower latency for most players. Private dedicated servers are enabled by adding "-public 0" to the server command line (See server manual PDF). You can only connect to private dedicated servers using the "Join IP"-button. I really hope this patch solves a lot of connection issues introduced in last weeks patches ( due to switching socket backend ). In addition to these dedicated-server fixes valve are also working on fixes to the SDR system (used when connecting to non-dedicated servers) and i believe there is already a beta-steam-client available that fixes some of these issues. Thanks everyone!!
* Localization updates
* Made Haldor head-turn smoother
* Object network interpolation is skipped if object was far away, solved issue with network players flying through the air when entering dungeons & exiting portals etc
* Added -public 1/0 flag to dedicated server again, Allows players to host local lan only servers
* Join IP-button updated to allow for lan-connections (dedicated servers only) & added DNS support
* Dedicated servers use directIP connection instead of SDR, solves issues with slow steam relays in some areas of the world
* Bonemass puke-effect network fix
* Updated Dedicated-server PDF manual
* Prevent pickup items when entering portals
* Lowered wolf procreation slightly
* Lowered chance of boss trophy talking |

Yea but it started with like almost no content. I too am in the same boat (pun intended) that there really isn't a whole lot to do in this game and refunded it. Will get it eventually once they add more stuff to it as it has potential.
This isn't exactly a new genre of the game, there are more games out there with more stuff to do.
My specs:
Ryzen 5950x @ boosting 5ghz, Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master, 128gb G.Skill Trident Neo pc3600 ram, nVidia RTX 5080, SoundBlasterX G6, Samsung 980 Pro m.2 1TB and Hynix m.2 1TB storage SSD. Custom watercooling loop.
Derpsole: Nintendo Switch, Derpstation 5 Pro

Discord channel is full of ideas, how hard is to add at least single thing, like lantern slot on the ship to see better in the fog? I don't expect DLC but at least some small pieces kurwa. They are just lazy as fuck.
