I'm still in the first chapter and not impressed really, compared to subnautica.
Is there station building later in the game?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) Ok, then I might give this another chance. I was about to drop it.

First chapter is terrible because of scavenge hunt. I spend two hours looking for a condom and almost vomited returning for nth time to the ship to restock on oxygen. Some people on steam says that the last chapters were rushed and change the formula from survival to walking sim.
I'm in chapter two right now I guess, and so far I agree with ShillUp. Looks great, the scale is amazing, sounds good, but...tool durability is infuriating, the attempts at humour are eye-rolling at best, the constant 4th wall breaking is just so clumsy and I fail to find any motivation to keep playing after about an hour every time I boot up the game.
Yeah I'm thinking about cheating the item durability. I mean I understand the mechanic but after my scrapper busted on repairing the battery and I had to waste 15 minutes to get back to the ship to make a new one.
There are some serious design flaws here. Too much micromanagement of everything that takes the enjoyment from the game.

I was looking for something unique and not procederpurally gimped to quench the appetite for survival and isotested this one, what a strange bipolar chickeny beast. I finished it since I had nothing better to do this weekend, it was both brilliant and insufferable almost in equal measure like a rollercoaster of wackiness, annoying but with a good heart.
The game clearly borrows many mechanics from Subnautica and translates them to the space-y context, it's rather polished and the gameplay loop works fine (for the most part ) despite its warts. However, since it never takes itself seriously and is structured in a peculiar chapter-based way with the last three ones that turn the experience into a mundane walking simulator-like sad trombone, it lacks the intriguing mystery, satisfying progression, gripping atmosphere and sense of wonder that its main inspiration could offer
The omnipresent humour with its absurd tone and pop culture references for me was a double-edged sword: you get bamboozled in many imaginative ways (comments and actions breaking walls, fake piracy screens, bogus quests, unexpected twists and so on ) but all this also takes away the immersion and makes the exploration more trivial than it should be. The very low items' durability and the risible initial oxygen capability don't help either, though the experience does get better once you unlock more goodies..until it gets worse again for different reasons. Building with its modules and various structures gets unlocked as soon as you craft the dispenser, but it's fundamentally an optional feature as everything is at the service of the main "plot".
It has its moments, but whether it's the nosy self-complacent tone or the limited budget the game to me felt like a missed opportunity more than anything else. Not great not terrible/10
I don't know what the problem with resources is, I have more than I know what to do with and it never felt like a grind to get them. I just pick up everything wherever I happen to be.
Yeah, I just started so I'm in the starting area still and there's so many resources I was a bit afraid because certain reaources don't respawn, but it seems you get plenty of these anyway (like glass and paint, I think)
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
There are MANY things I really like about this game. But the numb-minding back and forth in the first hour is absolutely immersion / fun breaking.
Your O2 reserves will only last for 45 seconds.
Are you fucking kidding me?
I've played a lot of Subnautica but, somehow, I've never had this issue there.
Thats because in Subnautica you could always get back to the surface. And at the point where you could go deeper, you'd have the Seamoth and better tanks. There is no surface in space.

The amount of scavenging is killing me in this game. Oh great I get the vacuum scooter oh no I have to get back 10 minutes to scavenge for fuel, you would like to upgrade your suit well go and find that aluminium. Now you need electronics guess what you have to scavenge it for ten minutes in that particular place that is half a map away.
I must say that shillup review is 100% spot on. There would be great game here but design flaws and probably purposeful trolling design is changing a fun experience into a chore. Drop the durability and fuel for vehicles and it's half way there. Even the ultradurable scrapper isn't enough because the rest of tools have like 15 uses and you need to craft them again.
Oh! But you have enough resources to do that. Yeah if you spend half the game to haul them to your bases.

If they took Subnautica as inspiration in terms of free-play time vs. survival mechanics, this is a massive fail. Yes, O2 in Sub was also limited at first to around 45 seconds(?). But recharge mechanics weren't tedious, as ANY point / place in vertical space would mean more O2. Where here, in Breath, you only have ONE point / place vertically AND horizontally for recharge...
Take 15 seconds to get to destination, 15 seconds to get back (on the same exactly path that gets so tiresome), that leaves you with ~15/20 seconds to engage with the environment (loot / explore / search / admire environment / plan next exit from airlock). Did really NO ONE from their testing team draw an exclamation mark on this situation?!
So, again, like I said: are you fucking kidding me?
Reesetera is going to lose their shit when they see this game.
The character you play is just called "Man"
One of your contacts is named "babe" and her avatar is just a closeup of her cleavage.
I just finished the game and it was a blast.
Highly recommend it if you like Subnautica.
The humor is right up my alley.
So much hope for this game, so much disappointment in the end.

Thank god i did not buy it! It had so much potential
It's not a bad game at all. Just the chapters are like different games. I still haven't finished it but ]the first chapter is just flying back and forth for resources and oxygen. The first half of the second chapter is same but
Spoiler:
then you get a "bike" and can move around a lot faster and you are forced to build a base that's utterly pointless because you can use it for like 5 hours before going to other zones. Then there came Chapter 3 where you only fly a shuttle. You can't leave it if you don't dock at a station and you walk around and do some kind of easy puzzles at those stations in order to get an upgrade to the shuttle to leave for the next zone. And you can't build anything during this chapter. I have seen some streams with bases so I guess that's coming in some later chapter.
But I still enjoy it so far. Even tho even I have to admit the jokes get too predictable and boring after some time. Can't really recommend it to Subnautica fans because it's too inconsistent and in (probably) most of the game you don't even build your own big and beautiful base which made Subnautica so cool and unique. BTW there is an reference for it - you can find a game cartridge called "Soupnautica" And the whole game is full with such references and easter eggs about many movies, games, meme etc.
Finished it, loved "most" of it. There is a lot of useless walking back and forth in the later game, but whatever, not as bad as to trash the entire game for it, as some did.
This is about the story more than about anything. If you expect an "open-world survival crafting game", well, it's not really that. Only the very first part is.
Anyway, at the end (which is very nicely done by the way) and after the credits, they let you know, that you can continue later on via a free addon (or stay now and basically free play for whatever reason ^^).
I give it a solid 8/10
By the way, apparently, less than 0.5% of people have finished the game yet, lol.
Aaaaaaand finished. Took me about 25 hours but I read almost everything in the game and spent some time trying to build a base that turned out to be completely irrelevant and useless (all you need in it is the research table and power/oxygen of course) so normally could be finished in ~20 hours.
Also I never found storage lockets but I am sure I saw a streamer having some. And I scanned everything I found in the first zone. Thought I also explored everything but probably missed something. I only had suitcases that were little annoying and could be kicked.
Yeah, took me 25 hours as well. I think the whole "building a base is rather useless" is kind of part of the "joke" of the game. I mean it keeps making fun of useless game mechanics etc.
And yeah, the entire ending was rather fun to watch.
How many times did you try to skip the credits, until you finally gave up? I tried 3 times, lol.
I watched the ending couple of times to capture images. But the credits could be skipped with 3 skips, yes.
Found where to scan for the Closet storage but turned out a bit pointless since it can be installed in the Habitation module only... It's much easier and faster to just place suitcases in front of the Research table. Disappointing if they really do the base building "as a joke" but I understand why they put it into the game. Afterall I think I wasn't going to play this without it because it looked so much like Subnautica. The game is basically a scam for trying to look like a "Subnautica in space" when it has very little in common with it. But I guess that's part of the dev's joke as Breathedge briefly crosses some other games as well - with space dogfighting or corridor shooting. I think with a decent montage it can even look like a Doom game.
