That's cool. Took a while to get them the way I wanted to because the order seems to be random and the section in which you choose each doesn't really make any sense in relation to where they actually go. Could have just had one section with numbered slots, but that would have made too much sense... I would actually use the wallpaper too if they let me NOT ruin it with the logo.

You can now add the game with EA Play Pro sub

EA Play Pro release date: May 14, 2021 6:00 PM EEST

Hopefully Steam pre-load date will be the same

I still have RE Village to start, because I couldn't play Friday and the last weekend, so it will hold me for the next 4 days when this comes out. I was itching to replay Mass Effect 1/2 anyway, so yeah. Very Happy

Apparently the game is 120GB in size + 13GB as a Day1 patch.

What the fuck is with these "remaster" sizes? The original trilogy took up roughly 60gb all total - so now we're looking at double that for the same content? Total War: Rome was even more fucking ludicrous.

I get that space is cheap now compared to two decades ago, but it's like they don't even try anymore. Fuck it, however much it takes up, it takes up. So ridiculous.

yeah, textures are at least double the size (probably more) so it makes sense.

i dont see any reason to install all 3 at the same time though, i doubt thats a requirement..

I agree it could have been implemented much better. It's made for phones I guess.

It might be possible to scrape the source assets, assuming you can poke through their Javascript or whatever it is the creator is written in. Based on that Garrus meme example, there must be four variant poses for each character.

Looks like it pulls from masseffectcustomizer.com (although going there directly redirects you to the EA site I linked to earlier). I found the backgrounds they use for the tool at least:

https://masseffectcustomizer.com/images/desktop/page-bg-1.80901c.jpg
https://masseffectcustomizer.com/images/desktop/page-bg-2.260702.jpg
https://masseffectcustomizer.com/images/desktop/page-bg-3.01443e.jpg

https://masseffectcustomizer.com/images/desktop/home-bg/paragon-bg.4e378d.jpg
https://masseffectcustomizer.com/images/desktop/home-bg/neutral-bg.7fd4f1.jpg
https://masseffectcustomizer.com/images/desktop/home-bg/renegade-bg.ddb3b1.jpg

As far as the images it creates, it's just spitting the data out directly as a Base64 string. I did poke through some of their scripts but couldn't determine anything useful. Bit beyond me.

Regarding the order though, it does seem like it is fixed, it's just selecting the chars in the right order that's finicky.

Mind Is Full Of Fuck

https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-disable-mass-effect-legendary-editions-improved-mako-handling-if-you-like-pain/

Quote:
As BioWare detailed earlier this year, the contentious Mako is one of the things being altered. The infamously bouncy vehicle will have weightier physics and be less prone to sliding, as well as having a boost, shields that recharge faster, and the ability to touch lava without an instant game over. The XP penalty for kills while in the Mako is also going away.

Not everyone hated the Mako, however, as BioWare knows. Project director Mac Walters and environment director Kevin Meek told PC Gamer earlier today that there will be an option to go back to a floaty version of the Big Trak-inspired truck. "For those people out there who do like pain, we've left the option to leave it back kind of closer to the original controls as well if you want," said Meek.

May the NFOrce be with you always.

I'm guessing the second one, but the first one looks better to me. The character seems to be more integrated to the scene.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Correct. Lighting looks better in the old, looks more movie-like. New has very flat lighting.

I had to actually look up an old gameplay from the original ME1 to see the comparison and this new version looks more...washed out imo?

And ya the facial animations are quite weird too. Good thing I didn't spend money on this. Very Happy

That's years of work with a full team vs some months with perhaps 2 developers...

They've done what anyone would have done, they've shown a few selected parts which looks a bit better if you compare them, but i think it's been proven now that many scenes will instead look worse. It's pretty much how it always ends up with these low-effort remasters, Dark Souls, Batman etc. They impressed no one.

So, how does it work in ME3 for the remaster since there's no multiplayer. More specifically, playing the multiplayer would give you a multiplier that was used to determine your War Readiness score. Now that Multiplayer is gone, have they adjusted the value of War Assets accordingly so that you're not locked into a "bad ending"?

I remember this being a big fuckin' deal back in the day, going so far as to download a mod as to address it on the yarred version.
