So this is why Garus has stopped posting. Must be a pain to fix this buggy mess
1 and 2 are still amazing.

are these bugs that funny to a dev, i mean really? when you work on this stuff you see it every single day.. i mean obviously i've joked around in engines and with 3D models, like anyone does as a beginner, but recording it, adding music, making a thing out of it.. makes me think these devs must be both very young and overall just unexperienced.

But now that the source code is out in the wild, CDPR should really just allow people to fix the game for them and everything will be top-notch in 9 months max. | "Hmmmmmmmmmm yessssssssssssssss. Let's have some "hackers" stealing the game's files, then sell it for "millions" and finally leaking the code so the masses can work on the magic patches instead "
Their masterplan all along

Even if it was a reverse psychology multi-dimensional chess move, before touching the files the modders would first need to find a lvl 99 exorcist to perform the necessary rites
But yeah, although it's a seemingly lost cause that goes beyond the concept of bugfixing, the talent and perseverance of the community can be surprising. I doubt there will be enough interest to mobilize the fanbase (since the game doesn't actually have one), but it will be curious to see if there will be ghetto attempts at trying to restore some of the promised kurwapunk.

As others have pointed out, the source code itself is probably going to be nigh on impossible to compile without access to their middleware and libraries.
Also I doubt anyone would be able to share a compiled executable on any legit sites as they'd be swarmed by DMCA requests before the upload had even finished.
At the end of the day, probably more of a novelty rather than anything useful.

QA teams do stuf like this all the time, tbh kinda surprised more didnt leak yet , QA is usually most ignored part of the whole IT (not just gamedev part) anyway

from what i have seen and heard from friends working in QA ... most of the games are superbroken full of playceholder stuff up until pretty close to release ... these things came together in final months

No. You are wrong. And I am right.
As creators and creatives it's our own constant duty to innovate. Even when we know we might fail. And, don't you worry, fail we will... many times. Innovation means very high risks and the massive possibility of failing. The important thing is to not stop after those fails.
What they tried to create was unprecedented on paper. But put it theory things didn't turned out as expected. It's NORMAL when you aim sky high. It's normal to FAIL*. It's part of the whole process of creation.**
Now CD Red tried and... well... failed. The EXCUSE is that the task was too daunting. They might fix their game OR move on to another project that will be better and enriched due to Cyberpunk's failure. In theory.
_
*, ** The problem with failing nowadays is NOT that it happens (like I said, it's normal), but that an army of self-entitled, redneck absent-mined, hating twatters will make a huge fuss about it, when they could completely act supportive, humane, decent, mature and DEAL in a civilized manner with it instead of spitting their venom.

They failed because of project mismanagement, not because they weren't technically capable of doing the job. It's the most common problem in the game industry, and across large corporations more generally.
