Just give me that with AMD , with way faster booting times (From the moment you press the power button till it reaches the desktop) and load all the frigging apps and drivers (using SSD in the mix) and call it a day in less than 35secs !!

I'm not that interested in boot times. How often do you boot your system? I only 2-3 times a day. Doesn't take more than 30 seconds already.
+1, unless it takes something like minutes (and in that case, you likely have some problem causing it, no?) it's such a pointless metric

Going from long minutes to seconds for functional boot-up (as in ready-to-use-any-app, waiting +2 minutes for Firefox to actually load a page doesn't count) certainly increased my meter Very Happy

Well, that was a pointless video. It was just a marketing video with some random features shortly showing up. I hope it'll be as easy to customize the UI as Win7/Win10.

It's officially required that you must have TPM 2.0 to install it

My ASUS X570 TUF GAMING PLUS says it has a "SPI TPM Header" but that means you must buy a chip and plug it into the MoBo YET there's no real specification on wich model you need.

In my BIOS a "Discrete fTPM" has been set as default but i don't think it'd be wise to change it to "Firmware fTPM" if that means the PC won't boot or gets broken

I've also downloaded the official compatibility tool and i've been told that this PC cannot be updated to W11 (Because it's yarr'd yet it's shown as "activated"?)

So yeah, good luck with your software, M$

I activated PPT in the bios (apparently this is the thing that needs to be activated on ASUS motherboards) and the TPM is up and running, but I still get an error that my PC can't run Windows 11 Laughing

So i ended up trying the fTPM and....Tadaaaah, "This PC can run W11"

No BSODs and doing a Win+R + tpm.msc shows that i'm really using TPM 2.0

The biggest question is.....Should i keep this option enabled , or should i revert it to Discrete TPM again to prevent any kind of possible issues?

That is good to know as I have an ASUS X570 TUF GAMING PRO so I assume it will pass doing the same thing. It was still a bit funny that a PC that is not even 2 months old fails with the tool as I wonder how many people will have that tool fail them and they end up buying some new parts when it is not needed.

It's kinda funny ppl rush out to enable some anti consumer BS like TPM and even allrdy order chips for their MBs.

There is absolutely no reason to require this for the average user not using Bitlocker. Unless you want to convert the PC platform in to a walled garden you control and force DRM on your user base of course and it's not like this is the first time MS has tried something like this either.

It will probably backfire since most PCs don't have it enabled by default or don't have the required version and there is no way the average user will go in the UEFI to enable it or order a chip but still.

Kinda funny how the big news of 'thee latest OS' is all about trying to fuck folks off. It's no longer how you use your system, it's how MS will make you use your system. The brass neck of them, lol, to make one's hardware not compatible!! WTF!!?? lol? (think about that one)

Laughing Yup, but it's MS, business as usual, control, but this is a new low, even for them Very Happy

I got TPM 2.99966 yeah, but it's one of the first things I disable in BIOS, fuck you MS!!, just fuck you! lol. Do not waste your time with this piss, they have never learnt, nor care, so WinTPMBloat011 will never ever enter any orifice here.

Glad to see fTPM will be enough

I never actually did any research into this but fTPM doesn't some how pull performance or increase CPU heat does it?

I only know fTPM is considered less secure. Hell I hope we can skip the TPM requirement with some hack or whatever

Guess they really wanna be able to run with "safest Windows / OS on the Market yet!" by having Bitlocker and SecureBoot be default on.

Also edgy cynical byline in the topic title. As far as this forum goes that's as new and innovative as Windows 11 - probably less so

From what i've read, you can grab a dll from the W10 ISO , delete the one W11 has and put the W10 in there and tadaaah

Yeah yeah, now wait till W11 gets updated and changes that specific dll to the original W11 and LOCKS YOU THE FUCK OUT FROM THE PC....Not so funny now..

why do i have the feeling that the TMP 2.0 requirement for windows 11 is going to be used as DRM against the user, trying to sell TPM as systemwide DRM to companys, something like this... this reminds me of an short article, Bruce Schneier wrote 2008...

Quote:
TPM to End Piracy
Ha ha ha ha. Famous last words from Atari founder Nolan Bushnell:

“There is a stealth encryption chip called a TPM that is going on the motherboards of most of the computers that are coming out now,” he pointed out

“What that says is that in the games business we will be able to encrypt with an absolutely verifiable private key in the encryption world — which is uncrackable by people on the internet and by giving away passwords — which will allow for a huge market to develop in some of the areas where piracy has been a real problem.”

“TPM” stands for “Trusted Platform Module.” It’s a chip that is probably already in your computer and may someday be used to enforce security: both your security, and the security of software and media companies against you. The system is complicated, and while it will prevent some attacks, there are lots of ways to hack it. (I’ve written about TPM here, and here when Microsoft called it Palladium. Ross Anderson has some good stuff here.)

TPM 2.0 is not needed to actually run Windows 11. It's rather "suggested" as listed in the Microsoft documentation for hardware requirements. You'll actually only need TPM 1.2, which most PCs actually have. So, don't worry. You'll be able to enjoy Windows 11 --- eventually!

That compatibility tool is worthless anyway since it doesn't show you why you can't run Windows 11.

And people like you are the reason why so many people will never use Linux. You're not "selling it", you're just being another Linux fanatic who use expletives to describe Windows users and Microsoft. Rolling Eyes

microshit clearly states the TPM requirement differently...

TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0.
